Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1339: Chapter 1340: Chasing and Competing

No one knows exactly how Cheng Yaozu spoke to Ying Xiaoya, but she discussed it with her parents. In the end, she followed Cheng Su’s suggestion and went to develop in the branch office in Guangcheng. Next, it was time for the handover.

The Jam Company was doing better and better, and had added two more financial staff. Ying Xiaoya sought Cheng Su’s opinion and handed her workload over to the more steady and honest Gu Liqing, letting her take the lead. In the future, the company’s financial team would naturally expand.

When Xiao Pinshan heard that Ying Xiaoya was going to the branch office in Guangcheng, his eyes darkened slightly, but he also understood that this was ultimately good for both of them.

He sought an opportunity to talk things over with Ying Xiaoya.

Time had changed, and Ying Xiaoya could finally face him calmly. She wholly accepted Xiao Pinshan’s blessings, and she only said one sentence, ”I wish you happiness,” before turning away.

Xiao Pinshan watched her back disappear, knowing that from now on, they would truly just be colleagues in the same company, meeting would be quite rare.

The days flowed in an orderly manner. After completing the handover, Ying Xiaoya bid farewell to Cheng Su and the others and followed Cheng Yaozu to Guangcheng to help at the branch office. As for settling down there, with Cheng Yaozu around, she wouldn’t suffer any losses.

As for Qing City, the land was approved, the design drafts for the new factory area were being made, and construction teams were being engaged to build new workshops. Cheng Su and her team were busily occupied, but despite this busyness, they felt quite fulfilled.

Cheng Su was busy, and Qi Taiguo wasn’t idle either. Besides leading the team for training, he also frequently visited places like the weapons depot to learn. Even though he had just completed a major mission, receiving first-class merits and praises, he became more reserved and steadfast, yet more humble. As Gao Linbing put it, the more recognition he received, the lower the profile he kept, the harder he worked; it was a bit hard to understand.

Gao Linbing couldn’t understand, but Qi Taiguo understood himself very well. With more experiences, he increasingly felt that the higher up one goes, the lonelier it gets, and he must always remind himself to stay vigilant.

This demeanor of Qi Taiguo naturally earned him a lot of respect and admiration from others. Isn’t there a saying that goes like this: when someone is more exceptional and accomplished than you, they are often also more diligent and modest?

Of course, there were also those who couldn’t stand him, like Dong Jun, who spoke harshly and even plotted little schemes, claiming that Qi Taiguo was just posturing for advancement.

But Dong Jun merely talked big, he was also a deputy battalion commander. It’s not like he was unaware that significant actions were happening above, such as the fall of the Loo Family. Knowing this frightened him to the core.

Why? Back then, he had been eager and sycophantic toward Chiang Qing. Had he indeed become her beloved son-in-law, he might have been the one sitting in prison now!

Therefore, while Dong Jun counted his blessings, he dared not stand out too much. Especially since Qi Taiguo was in the limelight now, crossing him would be asking for trouble. So, he could only indulge in loose talk, however, who paid any attention to him?

Cheng Su was busy, Qi Taiguo was busy. The couple seemed to be competing with each other, chasing and catching up. Sometimes, they wouldn’t see each other for several days. Seeing each other, they were each engrossed in their own affairs, one reading books, the other reviewing documents, exchanging information about recent days like, how are you today, or asking if the other wanted to eat if food was prepared. Or sometimes, engrossed in reading, suddenly impulsive, they’d end up together affectionately.

Thus, although they were busy, it seemed they spent much less time together than before, yet their rapport continued growing stronger, naturally improving their relationship, giving a sense of being an old married couple.
