Summoners: One Golden Term per Level

”Is that Charybdis?” Shen Fei’s face was serious as he sensed the overwhelming magic power in the distance, vast and chaotic, like a massive vortex sweeping the surroundings.

”Yes. The great vortex on the sea surface is just her façade. If ordinary people were on a boat, nothing particularly special would occur.

At most, the giant vortex would be spinning, and Charybdis only swallows and expels seawater three times a day, each period lasting eight hours...”

”So isn’t there a vortex all day?”

Shen Fei was speechless. Twenty-four hours a day, with each vortex lasting eight hours, wouldn’t that mean it’s creating vortices all day?

No wonder Odysseus had to take Scylla’s route back then.

”It’s a bit different; she needs to breathe, so you have to catch the time when she breathes.” Calypso explained, then continued, ”If it’s extraordinary creatures, or even demigods, they’ll be caught in the magic vortex, a magic vortex even I couldn’t withstand.”

Shen Fei nodded, realizing that such a surging magic vortex was indeed outrageous.

Not for nothing is she the daughter of Poseidon and Gaia. Although she’s only a demigod, she might as well be a true divine spirit, perhaps even stronger than typical subordinate gods.

’Could it be that Zeus sealed off one of Poseidon’s exceptionally powerful offspring for some flimsy reason?’ Shen Fei pondered.

”When is Earth Mother making her move?” Calypso couldn’t help but ask.

At this moment.

A terrifying surge of magic power erupted, and the entire sea surface suddenly cracked with web-like lines as countless luminous veins climbed out from the abyss.

When Earth Mother Gaia’s shadow rose from the boiling core magma, the surrounding sea area coagulated into a dark green amber.

The previously rotating great vortex suddenly solidified.

Charybdis assumed her human form, peeling away from the frozen vortex. Her skin was pale like a drowned corpse, covered with indigo blood vessels, and those pulsating veins clearly depicted a terrain map of ocean trenches, scaled down by thousands of times.

As her eyelashes twitched, what hung from her hair were not strands of azure but eternally spinning tiny vortices, each tip devouring light.

Gaia’s curse materialized on her body as shackles.

Dark red rock layers spread upward from her collarbone, forming a basalt collar on her neck, while luminescent blue stardust stones grew on her exposed waist and abdomen.

”Mother~”

She spoke, her throat rolling with the sulfuric breath of undersea hot springs.

”It’s you!”

Charybdis seemed to receive some information from the void, her vortex-like eyes turning towards the distance, and the figures of Shen Fei and three others appeared within Charybdis’s sight.

”If I kill you, I can break free from the curse and return to the past!”

Compared to Scylla, who did not wish to return to the past, Charybdis, daughter of Poseidon and Gaia, was not a simple sea nymph but a true divine spirit, even if merely a subordinate god.

Yet her rank was very high, with only the Twelve Main Gods able to suppress her securely.

If Zeus hadn’t sealed her in the Strait of Messina, she would still be a divine spirit now.

Now Poseidon told her that Earth Mother Gaia would act to partially seal her rank, returning her to the status of merely a sea god.

If she killed these four people before her, he would help Charybdis return to her past, freeing her from lingering in the Strait of Messina.

In the instant Charybdis raised her hand, the sea and sky completely inverted.

The tiny vortices in her hair suddenly expanded, transforming the entire sea area into tens of thousands of giant mouths that madly converged, forming twelve whirlpools, each over a hundred feet in diameter, opening their fangs towards Shen Fei and the others!

”Break!”

Shen Fei utilized the [Tsunami] Divine Authority, nearly a step away from transforming his soul into that of a divine spirit, the power he could wield on the ocean was not weaker than Charybdis’s.

Infinite tsunamis were born at Shen Fei’s reverse hand, raising hundreds of meters of water walls within the sea.

Simultaneously, the sound of the Seven-Stringed Zither’s strings arose, interfering with Charybdis while also supporting Shen Fei, causing the surging tsunami to grow even larger while weakening the vortices.

’Boom——!’

A deafening sound of water clashing rang out, the entire sea region plunged into turbulence, while Calypso’s hand transformed, and violet spell words swiftly spread along the crest of the waves: ”In the name of the Nether Moon!”

The frozen vortex was suddenly coated with a lead-grey hue, and the sea eye that devoured everything began reverse ejecting sunken ships and bones.

Five ghost ships emerged from the decaying depths of the vortex, the Misfortune Sails hanging from their masts unfurling simultaneously, charging towards Charybdis.

”A petty trick.”

Charybdis laughed disdainfully, and in the next moment, a tempest suddenly surged forth.

A Level Twelve hurricane, carrying black waters, tore the ghost ships into fragments.

The torn ship wreckage reassembled in the air, transforming into three hundred bronze long spears entwined with seaweed, the venom dripping from the spear tips corroding space into charred black holes, the spear rain shooting towards Shen Fei.

”A mere demigod dares to offend me! Even if you kill me, my father will avenge me!”

”If you leave now, I will plead with my father to spare your life!”

For many beings, Calypso was like an ancient relic, an ancient demigod, with Hecate as her backing, at least Scylla didn’t dare to offend Calypso much.

So back then, when Scylla was turned into a sea siren by Calypso’s magic potion, she dared not seek revenge, but it was different with Charybdis, even if her mother deprived her of part of her rank now.

But her father was still the current Sea Emperor!

This was Divine Authority’s confrontation behind Shen Fei, words likely wouldn’t deter him, but that witch might not necessarily come.

”Nether Moon Entombment!”

Where the spell traveled, all spears were engulfed into the suddenly opened Netherworld crevice, and Calypso said coldly, ”Hmph, just a tool of Poseidon, do you really think Poseidon treats you as a true descendant?”

”You’re still trying to resist? Poseidon has already deemed you a discard, at the moment Earth Mother acted, you were nothing more than a pawn he used to attempt to block Athena and the others!”

”If you were truly a direct descendant, why did Poseidon only come for you now after being cursed by the Divine King for so long?”

Calypso, no longer purely innocent and ignorant, became sharp-tongued.

Anyway, she’d already had to offend Poseidon, and now Shen Fei was Hecate’s Divine Favored, siding with her.

Charybdis, provoked by Calypso’s words, showed rage; it is not lies that harm people, but truth that is the sharp blade.

If she were truly important to Poseidon, he wouldn’t have allowed her to be sealed for so long, Poseidon only saw her as one of his chips.

Of course.

If she managed to kill Shen Fei, Poseidon would not withhold his favor.

But for Charybdis, this was nearly a betrayal: her mother aiding others to kill her, her father treating her as a tool.

Calypso had just uncovered this truth!
