Chapter 940: The beginning of the evacuation of the city of Istel

Istel, like many towns located on the riverbank, was in danger due to heavy rains and rivers overflowing their banks. In a matter of hours, it was flooded with water.

Many private houses were swept away by the current along with their inhabitants, and those who managed to climb the hills were trapped.

Along with the water, predatory aquatic beasts came to the city, preventing the survivors from leaving their homes, and all the brave souls were carried away into the dark waters, becoming food, filling the stomachs of these beasts.

There was no electricity, which meant there was no heating. Because of the incessant rain that was pouring down in buckets, it was very damp everywhere.

There were very few dry and warm clothes, and many people quickly caught a cold and started to get sick.

The water divided and isolated the survivors in the city into many different groups.

There were a lot of people gathered in one huge building, and in a small room nearby, a single mother and child were hiding, trapped.

In another place, a local resident, taking advantage of the disaster and his boat, captured several gullible girls and held them captive in one of the buildings.

The situation was different throughout the city. Some hoped for salvation, but others had already given up and were waiting for their fate.

And at that time, amid the general gloom and uncertainty, an event occurred that came as a real surprise to many.

The endless pounding of raindrops suddenly stopped, and for the first time in the last day, the residents plunged into an atmosphere of silence.

”Is the rain over?” one of the few people who couldnʼt sleep because of the noise of the rain, dampness and constant coughing asked incredulously.

”Indeed, the rain has stopped,” another confirmed, looking out the window and seeing no drops.

In a small space, a mother who was hugging her child, warming him with her warmth and trying not to cough to let him fall asleep, looked up. A spark of hope lit up in her eyes.

Meanwhile, in another place, a man holding five young girls frowned when he noticed the sudden cessation of rain. Unlike the others, for him, this sudden change, instead of joy and hope, became a source of anxiety and something he did not want.

Under his gaze, the girls, overcome with fear, clung to each other, not knowing what this terrible man could do.

The silence didnʼt last long. A loud voice broke it.

”Residents of Istel City!”

”Pay attention carefully!”

”Leave the water and put on warm clothes!”

”The water will be frozen soon!”

”As soon as the ice gets stronger, move to the city center for evacuation!”

Nathanʼs voice, like the voice of heaven itself, reverberated throughout the city, reaching the ears of those who were awake and waking the rest.

Those who had just started to wake up could not immediately make out the words. But, fortunately, Nathan repeated his call, and this time everyone heard him.

”Help has come!” someone exclaimed, breaking the silence. Many people began to rejoice and cry with joy.

The mother, hugging her child tightly, could not hold back her tears. Her worst fears were not realized, help really came.

The man who was holding the girls shuddered in fear and almost fell when he heard the voice.

That was what he was most afraid of.

In contrast to him, hope appeared in the eyes of the girls — the hope of salvation from the hands of this cruel man.

The man saw how hope lit up in the girlsʼ eyes, and how they stopped trembling. This caused him a storm of emotions: rage and anger.

Throughout the city, the survivors, obeying the voice, began to move away from the water.

Soon, as predicted, the first people who took refuge closer to the city center saw how the dark and frightening waters began to be covered with a thick layer of ice.

For those who were far from the world of the Awakened, it was an incredible sight. Like a miracle that came out of the world of fiction, which they will remember forever.

With the advent of ice, residents finally had a solid foothold and the opportunity to leave their shelters.

However, no one was in a hurry to follow the voiceʼs instructions and go to the city center. Everyone was still scared by the unknown and the darkness of the night.

And it was at this moment that a bright glow shone in the darkness from the city center, illuminating most of the city. Along with the light came the long-awaited feeling of warmth. Tired of the cold and damp, people, like moths flying to the light, one by one began to reach out to it.

The mother wrapped her child in warm clothes, left the shelter and, being under the glare of the light, finally stopped shaking. Unlike her child, she did not have warm and dry clothes. She gave everything she had to her baby.

The warmth of the light gave her confidence that she and her child would be saved. She gently hugged her child, kissed him with a smile, and hurried after the others to the light.

The ice under their feet was hard, but quite slippery. They had to be careful not to slip.

As more and more inhabitants appeared on the surface, the danger hidden under the water and ice began to move, attracted by their appearance.

Crackling.

Something hit the ice near the residents, and the ice cracked. Something similar to a crocodile, but larger, with sharp teeth and spikes on its back, burst out from under him.

Upon seeing the predator, panic began among the residents.

The mother and child froze in horror, being very close to the monster.

A predator, with its mouth wide open, wanting to bite off a woman and a child. However, before he could taste their flesh, something swift, sharp and deadly pierced his skull and came out from the other side, breaking through the ice.

The woman, hearing the crash, fell to her knees, closed her eyes and hugged her child to her. When she opened her eyes, she saw how a terrifying monster that seemed ready to attack her and her child was now lying in a pool of its own blood, with a huge hole in its head.

Similar scenes occurred in other parts of the city. The predators, who had just started to get out from under the ice, were killed with one precise and deadly blow.

”Maʼam, are you all right?” a voice asked. Looking up, the woman saw a young man who was smiling at her. His unique clothes immediately caught her attention, and tears appeared in her eyes.

The awakened one from the Titan Guild, seeing the tears of a woman and a child, made a decision.

”Let me personally escort you to the evacuation site, maʼam,” he said, using his Soul Force, and, picking up a woman with a child in her arms, he smiled proudly, glancing at the dead monster. comment

Watching how the terrifying evolved predator was defeated by just one attack from the Guild leader he belonged to, he felt proud.

Looking up at the sky, he longed to see his leader, Federation Hero number two, Rachel Rockford, in her fighting form once again.
