Chapter 927: The Power of Faith

”The Power of Faith?” Arabel asked, turning to Idan.

”Yes, at least thatʼs what they call it,” — Lucinda replied.

”And with good reason,” she continued, seeing that everyone was waiting for details from her.

”This is a special technique that allows the Guardians of the Light to draw strength from their so-called believers.”

”Itʼs not their own power, but an external one that strengthens them.”

”The more believers they have, the more power they can gain.”

”Believe me, the power that this ”Power of Faith” gives are truly incredible.”

”I must say, itʼs a bit of a vicious force,” Lucinda hastened to add, noticing the interest in their eyes.

”Vicious?” Milica raised an eyebrow in mild disgust.

”Yes,” Lucinda nodded, and the look on her face said that she didnʼt like this power either. ”The Guardians of Light donʼt just draw power, they literally suck it out of their believers, including their life forces.”

”Especially since the frequent use of this power is addictive.”

”The more you use it, the harder it becomes to give it up. This can lead to a person straying from the true path and reaching a dead end in their cultivation.”

The more Idan listened, the gloomier his face became.

Creatures from other worlds were already powerful, and with this ”Power of Faith” their danger increased many times over.

But more importantly, Idan began to understand why these Creatures of Light were so hostile to them.

”Do you know that creatures from other worlds help the locals cultivate, and what is their disadvantage?” asked Lucinda, looking around at everyone present and stopping at Idan and Arabel.

”Yes, we know,” Arabel nodded. ”This method makes those who have accepted their help dependent on their assistants, and also limits their own potential and the possibility of further cultivation without outside help.”

”Correct,” Lucina agreed. ”But besides making the locals dependent on them, thereʼs another reason theyʼre doing it.”

”Wait, youʼre not saying theyʼre doing this to recruit so-called believers, are you?” interrupted Arabel.

”No, itʼs slightly different,” Lucinda shook her head. ”But itʼs related to what Iʼm about to tell you.”

”Little sister, itʼs actually quite simple,” Sierra chimed in.

”These creatures help the locals cultivate, as if by planting seeds,” she continued.

”As soon as these seeds grow, that is, when these cultivators accumulate enough strength and energy, they will simply harvest.”

”In other words, they take back everything they gave.”

”They use the locals as a living resource to accumulate the necessary energy for themselves.”

”And itʼs not just the Creatures of Light that are doing this, but all the other Creatures from the Five Elemental Worlds as well.”

”Itʼs exactly as the Dark One said,” — Lucinda confirmed Sierraʼs words.

”In this regard, the people inhabiting the earth are just the perfect target.”

”Your greed, your desire for strength and a long life play into their hands.”

”You are so easily seduced and manipulated,” she concluded.

A heavy silence fell in the living room. Idan, Arabel, and Leo, as inhabitants of Earth, were alarmed by the growing threat posed by Creatures from other worlds.

”In this regard, the Creatures of Light, specifically those who are called the Guardians of Light from the Domain of Saints, have gone even further,” Lucinda continued.

”By helping local residents, they also use the power of suggestion to recruit ”believers” and use them to accumulate ”The Power of Faith.”

”If everyone can use the usual accumulated power, then only the Guardians of Light from the Domain of Saints can use the ”Power of Faith”.”

”Are you saying that not all Creatures from other worlds and Creatures of Light have the ability to use the ʼPower of Faithʼ?” asked Idan.

”Yes,” Lucinda replied to him. ”This is a special technique that only the Guardians of Light and the Lord of the Saints Domain can master.”

”How do you know all this?” asked Eulalia curiously, wanting to know how Lucinda had acquired such extensive knowledge.

”I learned most of this information from the symbiotic Creature of Light that my younger sister gave me,” Lucinda said gratefully, looking at Arabel.

”I caught this creature after killing the Guardians of Light,” Arabel recalled.

”Thatʼs right, this symbiotic creature belonged to her, and it carried some of the knowledge of the Guardian of Light,” Lucinda confirmed.

”I also got some information from Aliya, and some knowledge from the Dark One and her interrogations of the captive Creatures of Light that you captured earlier,” she added.

”So you knew that the Guardian had such power even before you met her today?” asked Idan.

”Yes, I knew,” Lucinda confirmed with a smile. ”Moreover, I was surprised myself that I would run into her as soon as I came here. I decided not to miss the chance and personally provoke her to use this power to evaluate her.”

”Although the ʼPower of Faithʼ pleasantly surprised me, unfortunately, the Guardian of Light I encountered turned out to be someone who had only recently reached the fifth rank and, therefore, had only recently been given the opportunity to use the ʼPower of Faithʼ.

”But even so, her powers were impressive.”

”If my assumptions are correct, then the other Guardians of Light, who have long reached the fifth rank and use the ʼPower of Faithʼ, are the ones who should worry you the most.”

Arabel was slightly taken aback after hearing Lucindaʼs words. She remembered her battle with the Guardians of Light.

”But when I fought the Guardian of Light, she didnʼt use the ʼPower of Faith,ʼ” she said. ”If what youʼre saying is true, then Iʼm not sure I could have stood up to her if she had used the ʼPower of Faithʼ back then. And Iʼm not sure I could have killed her.”

”Little sister, listen up. The Guardian of Light you encountered had this ability, but at that moment she just couldnʼt use it,” Lucinda replied.

”Huh? Why?” Arabel still couldnʼt understand.

”The Dark Barrier, Belle,” — Idan intervened to remind her. ”The barrier that Erza erected back then to isolate the Stone familyʼs territory. If I understand correctly, this barrier also severed the connection of the Guardian of Light with her believers, didnʼt it?”

”Exactly,” Lucinda nodded.

”Aah,” Arabel remembered the Dark Barrier just now.

During this conversation, Idan was able to better understand the motives of Creatures from other worlds.

The Earth was notable for its rapid pace of growth, and these creatures saw in its great potential and the opportunity to gain access to its natural and human resources.

As for the hostility of these Creatures, and especially the Creatures of Light from the Domain of Saints, to them, Idan understood its reasons.

Awakened ones with a Rare System and above were not influenced by the power of suggestion of Creatures of Light and could not become their believers.

Not only for the Creatures of Light, but also for the rest, those whom they could not subdue and who could resist them were a threat that needed to be eliminated before they could gain the strength to fight.
