Chapter 285: Missing

After Rizzy drank some more of Arabelʼs blood, enjoying her caresses, she felt tired and began to fall asleep. Noticing this, Idan decided to bring her back to the Star.

Arabel reluctantly broke up with Rizzy.

Idan, seeing Arabelʼs mood, hugged her, and she, without resisting, snuggled into his arms, not hiding her happy smile.

She was very happy to learn that Rizzy could drink her blood, and she wanted it to last as long as possible. However, she understood that Rizzy was still too young. And, remembering Idanʼs words, she looked forward to when she would grow up a little.

Coco, catching the mood, joined the couple to receive strokes from both. And, of course, she succeeded.

Seeing that Arabel was in a good mood, Idan decided not to reveal to her now the secrets about Krause and the mysterious existence, as well as about the dark egg that Coco had taken.

In such a peaceful atmosphere, Idan and Arabel spent some time forgetting about business for a while. However, Idan soon shuddered, and his mood changed dramatically.

”What happened?” — Arabel asked, noticing the change in his mood, and they pulled away from each other.

”Ned... Ned is missing, — Idan said, still trying to feel his contract with him.

”What? What do you mean, ”missing”?” asked Arabel, alarmed.

”Phew... calm down, Belle. Heʼs fine, I still feel like heʼs alive, I just canʼt pinpoint his location,” Idan shared.

”Where... where was he before he disappeared?” asked Arabel, suddenly remembering that Idan had sent Ned to keep an eye on her younger brother, and anxiety gripped her.

”Outside the city,” Idan replied, without taking his eyes off her, and added, ”He was following your brother, Arabel.”

Arabel shuddered, and before her unstable emotions could get out of control, Idan hugged her tightly.

”Calm down, Belle. Your brother and Ned will be fine. There is hardly a creature in our world that can surpass Ned in strength.”

These words made Arabel remember the power of Perfect Doppelgangers and finally pull herself together.

”Idan is right, Ned is not as simple as it seems at first glance,” she thought, remembering Ned in the form of a stupid dark fox who often crept up on Idan in search of affection. However, behind this stupid appearance was a creature that had grown up absorbing the Energy of Madness, but had not gone mad, but had taken control of it, like his ancestor.

”While still at the military base, I felt Ned leaving the city. Through the contract, I found out that he is following your brotherʼs group, which went to search for the missing group of impostors along their route...” Idan suddenly stopped, sharing this information with Arabel, and his face twisted in alarm.

”Damn it!” he exclaimed. ”Belle, if Iʼm not mistaken, the situation is worse than we thought!”

”Ah! Whatʼs going on?” — Arabel was startled to see Idanʼs sudden change of mood.

”Belle, in Arslanʼs group, which went in search of the missing impostors, despite the evening and darkness, there were almost all the Awakened Ones! Do you understand what that means?”

”Huh? What?”— only then Arabel realized. ”There are almost no awakened ones left in the city. Only the military!”

”Exactly. Military only. And what happens if a beast wave attacks the city?”

Arabel flinched at the question.

Back in Limbo, she and Idan had spent days fighting small waves of Animals in the company of their friends, and they knew well how dangerous it was. However, those beast waves were not as numerous as the ones mentioned here. Waves were described here, numbering in the hundreds, and in the worst case, in the thousands.

After breaking through, their strength allowed them to fight Gold-ranked beasts to the fullest, and when using a unique ability, they could even fight Platinum-ranked creatures. But despite their strength, even they would be helpless against a wave of hundreds of Beasts. They could have escaped or escaped, but they couldnʼt protect anyone.

Arabel was alarmed. Her brother had disappeared, and the city they were in was virtually defenseless.

Idan made a suggestion: ”The military can handle the Bronze and silver ranked Beasts in the event of a Beast Wave. However, against Gold-ranked Beasts, their weapons, although they have some effect, the military themselves are almost useless in this matter, because they are mere mortals and it is difficult for them to keep up with the reaction of Gold-ranked Beasts. Thatʼs why there were Awakened Ones in the city. Their task was to fight the Golden-ranked Beasts.”

Idan ended his thoughts with pessimism, ”Now that there are almost no Awakened Ones left in the city, if a Beast Wave consisting of a dozen Gold-ranked Beasts attacks it, the military is unlikely to be able to fight back and defend this city.”

Although it was just a guess, Idanʼs intuition told him that it would be like this. He believed that the Awakened Onesʼ disappearance was not accidental, but was organized by someone. And this someone couldnʼt help but take advantage of the lack of defenders of the city.

”Why did they all suddenly decide to go there?”—Arabel was indignant, unable to understand what the grief-awakened were thinking. But then, remembering that her brother was among them, she fell silent.

”Thereʼs something strange about that...” said Idan, remembering Milenaʼs suggestion ability. He began to suspect that she or someone else had the power to manipulate the crowd, and shared his thoughts with Arabel.

”Are you saying that Milena has this ability?” Arabel asked after listening to Idanʼs opinion.

”Yes, during the conversation, when she asked me directly if I was involved in Krausʼs disappearance, she or someone else used the power of suggestion on me, which tried to force me to answer her question. It was only thanks to the System that this ability was neutralized,” shared Idan.

Arabelʼs expression immediately turned cold, and in her eyes, Idan could have sworn he saw a spark of madness.

”By the way, I know roughly where Ned and your brotherʼs group disappeared, which he was following,” Ned managed to send him the coordinates before disappearing. Thanks to this, Idan realized that Ned and Arslanʼs group were probably ambushed and teleported to an unknown destination. Or else a special force was used that limited all ties, including his contract with Ned.

”Great, then what are we waiting for, letʼs go!” Arabel stood up abruptly after saying these words. Idan, seeing her seriousness and haste, realizing that she was worried about Arslan, also quickly got up and followed her.
