CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1398: Chapter 1406: Until When

”Miss Carter, why bother comparing yourself with Jane Sampson? Honestly, she’s a big star, an actor, with works and popularity, and today is also the first time she’s live streaming. There’s really no shame in losing to her.”

However, it was precisely this remark about losing to her that completely set off Jillian Carter’s temper.

”Who says I, Jillian Carter, am bound to lose to her! It’s my money I’m spending, what’s it to you? You just need to say one word – I give you the money, can you do it? If you can, then go and get it done immediately; if not, there will naturally be someone who can take your place and do it for me!” Jillian Carter almost yelled.

Upon hearing Jillian Carter’s unappreciative outburst, the person in charge couldn’t be bothered to argue anymore and simply asked, ”What if the other party’s person in charge asks for ten million for this advertisement? Do you still want it?”

”I want it!” Jillian Carter didn’t even think, ”Tell them it’s Jillian Carter who wants it. As long as they dare to ask for this ten million, you agree to it for me!”

After saying her piece, Jillian Carter hung up the phone. However, she didn’t immediately resume live streaming, but instead made another call.

In this call, Jillian Carter only had one sentence, ”No matter the cost, no matter the price, in this battle with Jane Sampson, I, Jillian Carter, must win!”

After this single sentence, Jillian Carter hung up. Even drinking a big gulp of water couldn’t calm her emotions.

Three minutes later, Jillian Carter received a call from the person in charge, informing her that the deal for the twitter pop-up ad had been negotiated – five million. The ad would go live as soon as the money hit the account.

Apparently, even contracts weren’t mentioned - partly because Jillian Carter was in a rush, and also because the other party was worried she might not pay afterwards.

After all, to anyone else, what Jillian Carter was doing would seem utterly baffling.

In layman’s terms, it was lunatic behavior.

Or rather, someone with more money than sense, burning through it for fun.

Jillian Carter transferred the five million directly to the other company’s account without batting an eyelid, and two minutes later, the advertisement for her live streaming channel’s giveaway appeared in the twitter pop-up alongside her live stream.

The ad was indeed effective. Jillian Carter returned to her live streaming channel and in just fifteen minutes, the audience count went back up to 30,000.

True to her word, as soon as the viewer count hit 30,000, Jillian Carter drew ten fans for the giveaway.

Meanwhile, at the Carter Family, as soon as Jillian Carter spent five million on the twitter pop-up ad space, James Carter and Gwendolyn Young found out.

They were watching Jane Sampson’s live streaming while they received the news, and James Carter and Gwendolyn Young had also tipped Jane Sampson with gifts several times, watching her chat with the fans like the girl next door. Gwendolyn even complimented Jane Sampson.

”Your friend is quite knowledgeable, obviously a girl who reads a lot on ordinary days. That’s good.” Gwendolyn had just finished praising Jane Sampson when news of Jillian Carter’s actions reached them.

Gwendolyn’s emotions turned from shock to a profound and unmistakable weariness, the kind that comes from too much disappointment.

”She’s becoming more and more unreasonable,” Gwendolyn sighed deeply. ”I...”

The words that were to follow ”I” were ultimately left unspoken by Gwendolyn.

It was more than disappointment.

While the Carter Family is wealthy, as are Gwendolyn and James, none of them had ever squandered money so recklessly. The Carter family has always been known for its prudence, and never before has there been a child like Jillian Carter in the entire family and clans.

”How long is she going to compete with Jane Sampson?” James Carter said, somewhat headache-ridden as he touched his forehead.

James himself couldn’t understand why Jillian was so resentful towards Jane just for informing him and their father about Jillian’s whereabouts in King Town. Or was it actually Jillian’s dissatisfaction with him, her elder brother, and with their father who brought her back home? And Jane Sampson was just innocently taking the brunt of it?

”If she doesn’t want to go back, forcing her will just make her run away again,” said Gwendolyn. ”I’ll stop all her cards tomorrow.”

Besides that, Gwendolyn could think of no other way to discipline her daughter.
