CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1361: Chapter 1369: I Would Be Content

”I didn’t take a lunch break today.” Jane Sampson was briefly startled by Minister Carter’s gentle voice, which didn’t seem accusatory, ”Uncle Carter, did you call me because there’s something important?”

”I should have called you two days ago, but I just couldn’t find the time, and I thought it wouldn’t be sincere to rush through the conversation with you.” Minister Carter sighed, ”I’m calling to apologize to you about Jillian’s actions, girl, I am sorry, it is my failure as a father not to have raised my daughter properly, which led her to do those things.”

Father Carter paused, ”I know what she’s thinking, but rest assured, I won’t agree to it.”

Hearing that Father Carter specifically called to apologize on behalf of Jillian, Jane Sampson’s feelings suddenly became a mix of many emotions.

From initial shock and bewilderment to a slow and gradual envy.

”Uncle is really good to Jillian.” Jane Sampson commented softly, her tone filled with carefully concealed envy.

”The moment her mother and I brought her into this world, we were obligated to take responsibility for her life. But we failed to educate her properly, to instill in her the right set of moral values. This is the fault of both her mother and me. I have been busy with work and failed to notice the changes in her mentality in time, it’s a dereliction of my duties as a father.”

Father Carter said, ”No matter how angry or disappointed I am, she is still my own daughter, how could I not love her? In the world, is there any parent who doesn’t love their child? In the end, isn’t it always the parents who pay off their children’s debts?”

”Yes, in this world, where is there a parent who does not love their own child?” Jane Sampson repeated softly.

Not understanding why, Father Carter hummed in agreement, ”Jane’s parents must love you very much too, right? That’s why they’ve raised you to be so outstanding as you are today.”

At this moment, tears uncontrollably filled Jane Sampson’s eyes. She gently curved her lips into a smile, even as tears silently streaked down from the corners of her mouth.

”Yes, my daddy and mommy must love me very much too,” Jane Sampson said, wiping the tears from her eyes.

It’s just that she hasn’t found them yet.

One day, she will find them, right?

They will love her just like Jillian’s father does, won’t they?

”What’s wrong?” Father Carter detected something slightly off in Jane Sampson’s tone.

”It’s nothing, Uncle, thank you.” Jane Sampson thought to herself that he was the first to say this to her, telling her, Jane Sampson, your parents must love you very much because you are so outstanding.

”You silly girl, why suddenly thank me? I should be the one thanking you for repeatedly tolerating Jillian’s bullying toward you,” Father Carter chuckled lightly, ”If she was even half as sensible as you, I’d be satisfied.”

”Uncle, I tend to ignore most things, but if it involves my friends and family, I can be relentless and unforgiving,” Jane Sampson was giving Father Carter a heads-up, like the tweet she had just posted not too long ago.

”Good, it’s right that she should suffer a bit and learn her lesson,” Father Carter said, ”Although I love my daughter, I’m not prepared to spoil her.”

By saying this, Father Carter also knew that he couldn’t possibly ask Jane Sampson not to fight back since Jillian had indeed gone too far in some of her actions.

In this world, there is no reason for two people to exist without cause, and no one is inherently obligated to yield to another.

”Visit our home when you’re free, together with your teacher Mr. Carter. I remember you like the meals he cooks. Then, I’ll have him prepare something delicious for you,” Father Carter said.
