CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1388: Chapter 1396: Don’t Play Dumb Anymore

Jane Sampson laughed as she took the mobile phone. She didn’t even need to ask to know why Jillian Carter was calling her.

”Hello, Miss Carter, this is Jane Sampson. What can I do for you?” Jane Sampson asked knowingly.

”Jane Sampson, stop pretending! You act as if you want the whole world to think you’re really a sweet and kind person! The type of person I hate most is someone as hypocritical as you!” Jillian said, ”Admit it, you scheduled your livestream at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening specifically to oppose me, didn’t you?”

”I don’t know what Miss Carter is talking about. I scheduled my livestream time for Saturday evening at 7 because that’s when my fans are free. Miss Carter, I don’t understand why you think I’m opposing you. Is it because you think I want revenge since you hired trolls to defame me a few days ago?”

Jane Sampson asked with utmost sincerity, ”If that’s the case, Miss Carter, you’ve really misunderstood me. Since I was young, my teachers taught me well—to repay enmity with kindness. Moreover, I don’t follow your livestreaming, Miss Internet Celebrity, so I wouldn’t know when you go live.”

Jane Sampson is not foolish—she wouldn’t admit over the phone that she scheduled her livestream at the same time as Jillian Carter just to spite her.

Jane Sampson was cautious of Jillian Carter recording the phone conversation. If she admitted it, and Jillian later released the recording, she would indeed give the haters the perfect opportunity to mercilessly attack her.

”Jane Sampson, what evidence do you have that I did it? You don’t have any evidence, do you?” Jillian angrily clenched her teeth, ”Jane Sampson, you did intentionally schedule your livestream at the same time as mine! Even if you don’t admit it, I know you did it on purpose!”

”Miss Carter really loves to joke,” Jane Sampson chuckled, ”You hire trolls to defame me, and I don’t have evidence right now, but Jillian, I know it was you. Yes, I don’t have proof yet so there’s nothing I can do to you now, but Jillian, you better pray I never find any because then you won’t even be able to be a small-time influencer and will have to go back to King Town as a nobody junior reporter.”

”Alright, I have nothing more to discuss with Miss Carter. Goodbye, and I wish you a pleasant mood,” Jane Sampson said, then immediately pressed the end call button and handed the mobile phone back to James Carter.

She then apologized to James Carter, ”Mr. Carter, I’m sorry, but it seems my relationship with Jillian Carter can only be of mutual animosity.”

”Did she just ask you about your livestream scheduling on the phone?” James Carter held the mobile phone in his hand without putting it back in his pocket, ”You...”

Jane Sampson knew what James Carter left unasked.

Though James Carter chose not to continue, Jane Sampson nonetheless spoke up.

”Mr. Carter, I wouldn’t lie to you, so yes, I did indeed intentionally schedule my livestream at that time,” Jane Sampson faced James Carter without any intention to lie, ”Mr. Carter, I’m sorry.”

”You don’t need to apologize to me, Jane, honestly, you didn’t do wrong by anyone,” James Carter gently shook his head, ”Your actions show that you are convinced that Jillian was the one who bought trolls to target you in the middle of the night.”
