CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1347: Chapter 1355 Shameless

Minister Carter is well aware that his daughter is not the type to casually call seniors just to check in, so he directly asked, ”What did Jillian call you for?”

Chief Wilson chuckled, ”Nothing much, she just asked me to help her look up some information on an actress named Jane Sampson. She seemed particularly curious about Jane, maybe as a young girl idolizing a star, wanting to understand more about her idol, perhaps even hoping for a chance to meet her.”

At Chief Wilson’s level, he had long mastered the art of saying the right thing to the right person.

Seeing no change in Minister Carter’s expression, Chief Wilson cheerily said, ”I remember your son James Carter is quite close to the actress Jane Sampson. Since James ended his last relationship, he hasn’t had a girlfriend for a long time, right? Perhaps Jillian thought Jane might be her future sister-in-law, so she wanted to learn more about her.”

In a few words, Chief Wilson’s speech exuded the kind of tolerance and affection a senior holds for the younger generation without considering Jillian’s request to look up someone in a negative light.

”She’s just being silly,” Minister Carter smiled, ”James and that girl are just good friends, they can’t be together. Don’t bother with her, little lass, loves making a fuss, with a new idea every day, don’t help her so you don’t set a precedent and then she bothers you, her beloved uncle, about every little thing in the future.”

Minister Carter spoke indifferently for a while, then changed the subject.

But since then, his mood has been very bad.

He might not know other people’s daughters, but how could he not understand his own daughter?

How could Jillian Carter possibly have good intentions in investigating Jane Sampson?

After a brief tea and talking for half an hour, Chief Wilson excused himself on the pretext of having to attend to work and left.

Once Chief Wilson was gone, Minister Carter returned directly to his study and used his mobile phone to make a call to Jillian.

The first call, he didn’t know if she didn’t hear it or didn’t want to answer.

Minister Carter had to call three times before Jillian finally answered.

”Dad, I’m sorry, I was busy just now, didn’t hear the phone ring. Did you call me several times? Is there something urgent?” Jillian’s voice was clearly tense.

”I’m not in the mood right now to care whether you really didn’t hear or just didn’t want to answer your dad’s calls.” Minister Carter’s voice was very cold, ”Previously, your mum asked me to bring you back home, but then I heard you weren’t even living at home anymore, I thought about it, and felt that I shouldn’t be too harsh on you.”

”Dad, does that mean you agree to let me stay in the Capital Province?” Jillian was overjoyed, ”Dad, I knew you loved me the most!”

”Looking at it now, I’ve been too lenient with you, which has indulged you to become so ungracious today.” Minister Carter sighed deeply, a sense of defeat not just stemming from disappointment.

”Jillian, others might not know why you’re so hostile towards Jane Sampson, but I do. The matter of you doing live streaming, I’ll put aside for now. Right now, let’s settle the matter of you asking Uncle Wilson to look up Jane Sampson.” Having said this, Minister Carter could not hold back anymore and burst out, ”Jillian, how did I end up raising a daughter who doesn’t know decency, propriety, or shame? Huh? Your morals, your principles, have they all gone to the dogs?”
