I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 1042: Chapter 1941: The Peculiar Hao Meili

They drove for more than two hours and had already entered the mountains. Along the way, there were many places for playing in the water, but in this era, people weren’t too particular about going out to play, especially as people had just begun to ensure they were well-fed. Few opted for self-drive tours to the suburbs.

So, the creek at the bottom of the valley appeared exceptionally clean, with water so clear that all the fish could be seen.

However, because there were few people around, it seemed remote. If not for Hao Meili wanting to come here, Hao Jiacheng would surely have taken her to a tourist spot. Aren’t tourist spots lively? Who would come to such a remote mountain area?

The scenery was beautiful, but it was trendy to visit tourist spots!

”Once you’re feeling better, I’ll take you to Tiananmen and the Forbidden City to see our cultural history.” Hao Jiacheng said cheerfully to Hao Meili.

Hao Meili wore a faint smile, and upon hearing this, she merely smiled. She knew she would never have the chance to go.

Luo Yirui had always lived in the big city, so he liked these forest and open areas very much. The lush greenery was a pleasing sight. Obviously, if his mother could take him to a children’s amusement park, he would still choose to go to the amusement park.

But Jing Changle was completely uninterested. He preferred looking at the concrete jungle, enjoyed the bustling city of Beijing, and loved the hustle and bustle of the alleys.

Soon, the aroma of grilled kebabs wafted over, pulling everyone’s thoughts back.

The three children and the two adults sat together. Hao Jiacheng’s hands were continuously busy, and as soon as he finished grilling a rack, everyone devoured it. He smiled brightly as he watched them eat with such relish, motivated to keep grilling.

”Let’s have some fish tofu, come on, give me some oil, don’t just keep eating.” Hao Jiacheng said to Hao Rong.

Hao Rong’s eyes lit up. Fish tofu was delicious. He hurriedly picked up a small brush, dipped it in the oil can, and spread oil over the fish tofu.

Everyone ate until they were full to the brim. They had brought frozen skewers, which were mostly consumed. After finishing the kebabs, they took out the watermelon that had been chilled in the creek water, cut it open, and happily ate it.

At this point, no one noticed the brief sorrow on Hao Meili’s face, which soon returned to normal.

Hao Rong had glanced over and saw Hao Meili’s expression, which made his heart pause as he remembered how Xiao Wang used to love eating watermelon. Aunt must be missing Xiao Wang.

Everyone played in the creek for quite a while. The water was clean, clear, and very refreshing. Although it was cool in the mornings and evenings during this season, it remained hot during the day, making it pleasant to play.

Luo Yirui played at catching fish in the creek, while Jing Changle sat on the rock by the bank, resting his chin and watching. Not much interested in playing, he noticed Hao Meili gazing absentmindedly at the sky.

Jing Changle stared at the desolate expression on Hao Meili’s face, wondering if she missed her son. This bleak feeling brought a profound sadness.

Suddenly, Hao Meili looked over at Jing Changle, their gazes meeting. Jing Changle saw her smile, but the smile was tinged with sadness, laced with hopelessness...

Then, those eyes, which had just held a mournful look, suddenly transformed into a pair of vertical pupils, staring fixedly at Jing Changle.

Even though Jing Changle was aware, he had never seen such a thing. Seeing this, he was so startled he fell backward off the rock, cold sweat standing on end, a shiver running from his feet right up to his spine.

Hearing the commotion, Luo Yirui looked over to see Jing Changle getting up, his face full of fear as he looked at Hao Meili, and couldn’t help but look at her as well. Hao Meili was also looking at Jing Changle, but appeared normal.
