I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 1025: Chapter 1024: I Think I’ve Seen You Before

Upon hearing Hao Meili’s door open, Luo Yirui’s body instantly tensed up. He grasped two Paralysis Talismans in one hand, trying to slow his breathing as much as possible.

The treasured silhouette still appeared stiff, just like last night. She didn’t glance at Luo Yirui lying on the sofa but headed directly towards the door.

It took her half a day to finally open the door.

Until she left, she didn’t look at Luo Yirui at all. Luo Yirui finally breathed a sigh of relief, sat up, and leaned against the window, exposing only half of his head to watch outside.

About fifteen minutes later, Hao Meili’s figure appeared outside the wall, wandering as she did before. But this time, she didn’t squat down to check where she had hidden things.

Luo Yirui kept watching, feeling quite odd; was she wandering unconsciously, or did she have some purpose?

It’s easy to say it was unconscious, but she reacted to his words last night. It’s easy to say she had a purpose, yet she only wandered around the wall without doing anything.

Luo Yirui lay on the windowsill, watching her circle around. This mechanical way of moving was hypnotic, and given that he was already quite sleepy, his head was nodding as he nearly fell asleep.

Until he heard noises outside and suddenly woke up, realizing it was four o’clock; Hao Meili had returned!

He quickly ran back to the sofa, covered himself with a thin blanket, and slowed his breathing.

He knew how to do these things smoothly; not only was he skilled, but his two younger sisters were as well. After all, if they wanted to play a little longer without being discovered by their mom and grandma, this was the only way. As for dad... ha, no one could deceive him!

So he was confident that Hao Meili couldn’t possibly detect anything strange.

The sound of the door opening was heard, and Hao Meili entered from outside. Because it was relatively dark inside the house, Luo Yirui gently squinted his eyes, unable to see Hao Meili’s face.

He was very scared, yet inside, he really wanted to see those vertical pupils again, especially when he speculated that she might not harm him. His curiosity only grew.

But unfortunately, her face was pitch black, and he couldn’t see anything, leaving Luo Yirui feeling a bit regretful.

The next day, Hao Meili’s biological clock had her up by eight, but just like before, she was weak, lying on the bed with a clouded mind.

Luo Yirui had already washed up; Hao Meili was having breakfast with him.

Hao Meili stumbled out, saw Luo Yirui at the small bar, and gave him a smile. Then she sat diagonally opposite him, and the servants gradually laid out breakfast.

Right now, only Hao Meili and Luo Yirui had the special privilege of dining in their rooms.

While eating, Hao Meili suddenly sighed deeply, putting down her chopsticks, her face full of melancholy.

”Didn’t sleep well, Auntie?” Luo Yirui asked.

Hao Meili smiled a bitter smile, ”My time might be running out.”

Luo Yirui didn’t expect her to say such a thing right off the bat and suddenly didn’t know what to say, so he could only silently look at her.

Hao Meili closed her eyes and said, ”Little Rui, Auntie probably has a connection with you. When I first saw you, I felt you were so familiar, as if I had seen you somewhere before.”

Luo Yirui was momentarily puzzled, suddenly recalling how Uncle Xun often said similar things to girls, but he was a boy. Hao Meili saying this to him was certainly different from Uncle Xun.

He had always found it odd, hearing Hao Rong’s description; he was very different from Hao Meili’s son in terms of age, appearance, and personality.

So when Hao Jiacheng came looking for him to accompany Hao Meili, calling her mom, he felt very strange inside.

Now, hearing Hao Meili say that, he subconsciously felt there was more to her words, and she looked as if she had something caught in her throat, watching Luo Yirui with sad eyes.

But despite being clever, Luo Yirui was just a child; he couldn’t possibly understand Hao Meili’s gaze, nor could he grasp what she truly meant to convey.

Just after breakfast, Hao Jiacheng entered; Luo Yirui knew it was time to leave. Under Hao Meili’s reluctant gaze, Luo Yirui swiftly left.

Outside, Hao Rong and Jing Changle were already waiting for him; today, they were going to practice shooting to save face in front of Bai Yongquan. Although Hao Rong wanted to curry favor with Bai Yongquan, he was quite wary of Nie Kaihuan.

”At that time, I got carried away and agreed immediately. Now I really regret it; I forgot that Nie Kaihuan might be Nie Kaidi’s relative. If so, and we beat him up before, they’ll definitely retaliate!” Hao Rong said.

Actually, if they want to retaliate, that can be dealt with, but the problem is given those youngsters’ crooked nature, they probably won’t let this go easily. Look at Nie Jiaqi; even after making a mistake herself, she blamed others without shame and demanded severe punishment.

Now Luo Yirui directly hit them, imagine, they might even beat him to death!

It’s unclear if Luo Yirui’s mom can withstand this, and if not, that would be catastrophic; now Hao Rong can only bet everything on Luo Yirui.

”If he really wants revenge, whether or not you deal with Bai Yongquan makes no difference, he’ll still come to find you,” Luo Yirui said.

Hao Rong thought so too, but it seemed like he was actively walking into it, so now he wasn’t as happy or excited as he initially was.

The three got into the car, and the driver drove them straight to the shooting range in the southern part of town.

Halfway there, Luo Yirui suddenly shouted, ”Stop!”

Sitting in front, Hao Rong hurriedly asked the driver to stop and turned back to ask, ”What’s up, Brother Xiao Rui?”

Luo Yirui turned to look outside the window; the person sitting on the curb looked so familiar!

”Is that person the horse trainer?” Luo Yirui pointed outside.

Jing Changle and Hao Rong both looked out; a middle-aged man was sitting on the curb, looking at the bustling crowd ahead with a dull gaze—no longer exuding the hardness they saw at the racecourse.

”It’s him,” Jing Changle said.

Luo Yirui pondered for a moment, opened the car door. Hao Rong was startled and hurriedly got out of the car to come beside him and said quietly, ”Brother Xiao Rui, what are you trying to do? Those are Nie Family’s people who were dealt with; even Brother Quan wouldn’t interfere, don’t get involved!”

Luo Yirui glanced at him, pushed him aside, and walked towards the horse trainer.

He admired the horse trainer’s stubborn spirit then; even submitting to that man and woman might not guarantee his release, as in their eyes, the horse trainer was possibly not even human.

Luo Yirui crossed the street and reached the horse trainer, but the trainer seemed not to notice him, his eyes vacant.
