I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 1021: Chapter 1020: Terrifying

The person seemed to understand now, moving neither too fast nor too slow. How should I put it? It made one feel his limbs were somewhat uncoordinated, stiff...

Luo Yirui felt an eerie chill, opening his eyes to see a figure standing in the room in the middle of the night, that all-white appearance made his hair stand on end.

However, Luo Yirui, being quite young, hadn’t been exposed to concepts like ghosts or monsters, so he only felt startled, thinking it was a burglar who’d broken in, despite this foolish thief actually wearing white. But he shouted twice and got no response from the other person, which made him suspicious.

If it was a thief, why wouldn’t they be scared or flee, nor try to grab him?

Luo Yirui held a Paralysis Talisman in his hand, thinking if this person suddenly approached, he’d throw a couple at him, immobilizing him completely!

Yet in the end, the person didn’t walk towards Luo Yirui, but towards the door, and Luo Yirui’s first thought was that he wanted to run!

Since the person wanted to run, it was an evident sign of guilt, and Luo Yirui, being skilled and brave, pondered whether to stop him because he felt this person was likely after Hao Meili, or maybe the iron box!

But if he wanted to stop him, he’d definitely need to use the fighting talisman... Luo Yirui quickly dismissed this thought; there was no reason to expose himself, only putting himself in the line of fire.

Having made his decision, he didn’t prevent the person’s departure, yet he discovered the thief was at the door but couldn’t open it...

You could argue that opening it from the outside is harder to justify, but you can’t open a door from the inside! The person is way too foolish!

Seeing such a clumsy thief, Luo Yirui’s mouth twitched, wondering why was this person’s hands and feet so awkward? Wait a minute... why did the person’s shape look so familiar?

When the person stood at the door, half of their body was in the moonlight, and once Luo Yirui saw this person, they felt familiar, moreover, that white clothing seemed like pajamas!

Is it... Hao Meili?

Luo Yirui hesitated upon seeing this, as he almost confirmed it was Hao Meili.

”Aunt?” Luo Yirui tentatively called, the voice not loud.

Hao Meili didn’t respond at all, still trying to open the door with full force.

Seeing this, a realization dawned on Luo Yirui; Hao Meili suffered from sleepwalking!

Sleepwalkers shouldn’t be awakened, otherwise, it could be dangerous. This was something his mom didn’t tell him much about, so his understanding wasn’t comprehensive.

Knowing it was Hao Meili, Luo Yirui felt relieved and stopped calling her. But he had to stop her from leaving, lest she went somewhere unknown.

With this in mind, he heard a ’click’ sound, Hao Meili had opened the door.

Seeing Hao Meili heading outside, Luo Yirui checked the time; it was 2:30 AM. He had no choice but to go forward, his mind flashing with a hint of doubt.

Although he didn’t know much about sleepwalking, he thought he’d heard that sleepwalkers usually walk in a straight line, bump into a wall and lie down to sleep, rarely opening doors.

Luo Yirui felt his knowledge was indeed lacking; encountering this situation, guessing was his only option...

He quickly dressed and saw Hao Meili standing there motionless. He walked up to her planning to wait until she fell asleep again before calling someone to carry her back, but as he lifted his head, he felt a chill.

The moonlight illuminated her face clearly, Hao Meili’s eyes were open!

Luo Yirui couldn’t help but step back; sleepwalkers ought to be asleep, so why was Hao Meili’s eyes wide open?

He also noticed Hao Meili wasn’t blinking!

”A-aunt?” Luo Yirui gulped, his voice cautious.

This time, Hao Meili reacted; she slowly turned her head to look at Luo Yirui.

Luo Yirui seemed to see something extremely terrifying, so shocked he fell back onto the ground, his body covered in goosebumps, as Hao Meili’s eyes... had vertical pupils!

Like a cat? No, not quite!

But Luo Yirui was certain that these were not human eyes!

Hao Meili stared at him, expressionless. Luo Yirui felt his limbs go limp under her gaze, and horrifyingly discovered that Hao Meili wasn’t not blinking, but... was...

Luo Yirui didn’t know how to describe the terror he felt; she blinked, but while humans blink with the upper eyelid closing downwards, hers blinked from left and right towards the center!

This definitely wasn’t human eyes!

Luo Yirui didn’t know how people screamed when frightened, but he felt like something was blocking his throat now, unable to make a sound, his face pallid, sweat trickling down his forehead.

Hao Meili did nothing to him, merely stared for a while before turning away and walking out, seeming less stiff compared to inside the room.

It wasn’t until Hao Meili was downstairs that strength returned to Luo Yirui’s body. He hurriedly ran towards Jing Changle.

”Who?”

Upon knocking the door shortly, a voice inquired from inside, sounding tense, likely surprised by the unexpected late-night knock.

”It’s... Luo Yirui.”

Before his words fell, the room door swung open, and amidst his panic, Luo Yirui noticed Jing Changle was barefoot, not even wearing shoes as he rushed to open the door, which brought a bit of warmth to his heart, no longer icy cold.

Jing Changle glanced at his pale visage, eyes widening slightly, hurriedly pulling him inside and instinctively locking the door behind them.

Once inside, Luo Yirui sat on the ground abruptly; Jing Changle immediately sat next to him. ”What’s wrong?”

Except for that time they were taken for blood extraction, Jing Changle hadn’t seen him with such a frightened expression.

Luo Yirui swallowed hard and calmed down a bit, narrating his recent encounters to Jing Changle.

Jing Changle’s skin crawled listening to this; his eyes widened with terror, disbelief that such horrifying things could exist in the world.

Luo Yirui remembered something abruptly, rushing to the window and lifting a corner of the curtain to peer outside. Under the bright moonlight, the path was devoid of any presence, eerily silent, a silence that was terrifying.

After a while, a figure suddenly appeared from the other side of the villa, that figure walking along the villa’s wall, it was indeed Hao Meili.

This scenario wasn’t new to them; they had observed her since the night she buried something. But after witnessing Luo Yirui’s encounter today, things seem different now.

Hao Meili walked towards the spot where she had buried something that night, crouched down, body obscured by the wall, soon standing up again, staring blankly.

This scene was all too familiar; they saw the exact same thing last night, repeating her actions.

Luo Yirui originally terrified felt his fear diminish somehow upon seeing this, instead finding Hao Meili’s actions rather odd...
