I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 948: Chapter 947: The Child Sent by Heaven

That night, Zhao Runtian thought a lot. He felt he should say goodbye to his family; otherwise, by the time they discovered it, his body would already be stiff, and dressing him would be difficult. He didn’t want to die and have his arms and legs broken just to put on clothes.

Since falling ill, he had asked his family not to come in if possible. Although this made him feel very lonely and anxious, he couldn’t risk infecting his family.

Zhao Runtian barely slept all night, his mental state not great, but his chest felt less tight, and the number of times he coughed up phlegm and blood reduced significantly to only a few times all night.

In the morning, as he waited for his wife to come in, so he could ask her to call his parents to say goodbye and prepare clothes and a coffin for him in advance, the mysterious child from yesterday slipped inside before she arrived.

Perhaps he had come to terms with it; his mindset seemed better than before.

”Here to bring uncle medicine again?” Zhao Runtian said with a smile.

Luo Yirui nodded, carefully examining his complexion and found he could indeed see the features his mother used to describe. These features allowed him to assess a patient’s condition even without them saying anything.

This realization delighted and excited Luo Yirui; learning was one thing, but applying it in real situations was entirely different.

”Uncle, is your chest no longer tight? How many times did you cough yesterday?”

Although Luo Yirui felt confident he had assessed accurately, he wanted to validate his observations.

Hearing this, Zhao Runtian was startled and then stupefied, ”Little one, you...”

The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he didn’t know how to continue. He thought, could it really be your medicine working? The idea seemed absurd. But how did this child know about his condition?

Luo Yirui looked up, seeing Zhao Runtian’s eyes filled with surprised uncertainty, somewhat puzzled. ”Uncle should feel the effects soon after taking the medicine. At least a sense of relief; the first cup of talismanic water would have eliminated many tuberculosis bacteria. After a full night, your condition should be better than just after drinking it yesterday.”

With his explanation, Zhao Runtian’s eyes widened, and he murmured, ”You mean... this isn’t my last burst of energy?”

Luo Yirui: ”...”

Pursing his lips, after all his efforts finally showing effects, he was mistaken for just having a resurgence?

Feeling a bit wronged, Luo Yirui placed the second cup of talismanic water in front of him, ”Uncle, drink this second cup. After this one, it should be about enough. Don’t do heavy work recently, eat more lung-cleansing foods, and avoid spicy and irritating foods.”

He instructed him as his mom would, suddenly feeling a great sense of achievement. This sense of professional accomplishment and confidence made him very happy.

At this moment, Zhao Runtian, no matter how unbelievable, had to believe this little child. His look at the jar of clear water changed; even though it looked like clear water, he had seen with his own eyes the child putting the medicine in!

Zhao Runtian hesitated no more, gulping down the medicine. It still tasted just like clear water, but this time, he carefully noted that cooling sensation spreading once again!

At this point, he had no doubts; maybe he could really recover from his illness. Although hard to believe, it was happening right before his eyes.

Luo Yirui kept watching Zhao Runtian’s complexion after drinking the talismanic water. While he didn’t have his mom’s sharp eyes, he had learned a lot just by being around her for so long.

Zhao Runtian’s face, still slightly flushed, now had a healthy redness, unlike the sickly redness of before. This healthier redness was subtle and fleeting, as Zhao Runtian was not in great health. Drinking talismanic water for tuberculosis wouldn’t make him visibly radiant; that’s absurd.

It was Luo Yirui’s first time treating someone; the feeling of instant effectiveness felt very wondrous, especially seeing the patient’s excitement and disbelief, filled him with pride.

”Uncle, these medicines are for the elderly granny; I heard she is weak from overwork. I just checked and saw she is too weak for nutritional therapy. These are three sachets of medicine; let her drink one every three days dissolved in clear water.”

Zhao Runtian, holding the small medicine bag the size of half a baby’s fist, treasured it immensely. The tiny figure of Luo Yirui before him became unreal, appearing very tall...

Such a feeling was eerie, but...

”Why are you helping us?” Zhao Runtian couldn’t help but ask, puzzled about this child’s real identity.

Luo Yirui smiled, ”Grandpa saved me, so I repay him.”

Glancing at the time, he needed to leave soon, or he’d miss the tractor. This time, he was riding to the big village by tractor. Seeing Zhao Runtian’s dazed face, Luo Yirui said no more and turned to leave.

It wasn’t until Luo Yirui walked into the yard that Zhao Runtian realized what had happened, showing a face of utter shock.

”Good deeds reap rewards. My father accumulated blessings, and Heaven sent down this child to save our Zhao Family!”

At that moment, Zhao Runtian believed Luo Yirui was Heaven-sent. Otherwise, how could a five-year-old child possess such great abilities?

Once Luo Yirui boarded the tractor, the elderly man returned home. Upon entering the yard, he saw his son, who used to cough so violently, as though trying to cough his lungs out, standing there.

”Why are you out?”

The woman beside them blankly remarked, ”Dad, Runtian said he’s healed. That child cured him! Dad, do you think he’s not going to make it?”

Zhao Runtian glared at his wife in exasperation. What did she mean by ’not make it’!

He explained the whole situation to the old man, who was equally astonished, and immediately took his son to Doctor Sun for a check-up. After examining him, Doctor Sun was equally surprised.

”It does seem there’s no issue, but you know my place is small, and the checks may not be accurate. Perhaps you should—”

Just as Doctor Sun suggested they go to a bigger hospital, he saw Zhao Runtian and his wife burst into laughter, hugging each other, while the elderly man was moved to tears, constantly thanking Heaven for sending down the child to save them from misery. Doctor Sun was left bewildered, wondering if the whole family had lost their minds.
