I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 922: Chapter 921: Why Are You in the Trunk?

The two of them in the car quickly left Beijing, driving on the highway. Beisitian suddenly heard a sound. At first, she thought she had misheard, but then the sound came again. She frowned and looked back, wondering if it was coming from the trunk?

”Find a stopover to park,” Beisitian said.

Wei Zhongxun nodded. He heard the sound too.

After driving for five or six minutes, they finally reached the next stop. Wei Zhongxun parked the car, got out, and went to the trunk, with Beisitian following closely behind. Sure enough, they heard a ’knock knock knock’ sound shortly after.

Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun exchanged a glance, both seeing surprise in each other’s eyes and simultaneously feeling a sense of foreboding.

Wei Zhongxun stepped forward and opened the trunk, then fell silent.

Beisitian raised an eyebrow, then pinched the bridge of her nose... Inside the trunk, Luo Yirui was holding Zhuangzhuang, looking confused as he stared at her.

”...Little Rui, why are you in the trunk?” Beisitian asked helplessly.

Luo Yirui blinked, ”Playing hide and seek with the sisters...”

Well, he wouldn’t admit he wanted to play too. He’s already an adult, so he’s just accompanying the little sisters to play!

Wei Zhongxun glanced at Beisitian’s helpless expression, feeling somewhat amused. The only thing that could render his master helpless was her three kids.

Beisitian turned her head and asked Wei Zhongxun, ”How far is the nearest exit?”

Wei Zhongxun looked up at a road sign. They were mid-way without clear markings, and there were no landmarks around. After gauging the approximate time, he said, ”More than ten kilometers.”

Having driven over ten kilometers on the highway, if they exited at the next exit, it would take more than thirty kilometers to get off the highway, and another forty minutes to send Luo Yirui back, which would delay them too long...

Beisitian thought for a moment and then said, ”Get back in the car first.”

Luo Yirui got out of the trunk, and Zhuangzhuang jumped down too. He watched Zhuangzhuang wag its tail at him, clearly sensing the mistress’s anger...

”Let’s behave~”

Zhuangzhuang felt it, and of course, Luo Yirui did too... Mom being angry was scary, even scarier than Dad!

Luo Yirui climbed into the backseat with Zhuangzhuang. They both sat there motionless.

Beisitian shot a glance into the rearview mirror, seeing the little one in this state, even Zhuangzhuang with a serious dog face, made her unsure whether to get angry or not.

Actually, Beisitian knew it wasn’t Luo Yirui’s fault; he must have fallen asleep hidden in the trunk and ended up being driven out with the car, just...

”Weren’t you uncomfortable in the trunk?” Beisitian asked with a cold face.

Luo Yirui glanced at Zhuangzhuang and said, ”It wasn’t too bad. I pushed the backseat forward a bit...” That way, it would leave a gap. He didn’t expect to fall asleep inside; he just planned to hide for a while until the sisters couldn’t find him and then come out.

Beisitian was speechless; the little kid sure had his ways. No wonder she found the backseat slanted forward a bit when loading luggage. She didn’t think much of it, assuming it was moved during previous loading or unloading.

It seemed it was her fault too; she no longer paid much attention to these everyday details.

In the end, Beisitian didn’t say any scolding words. She pinched the bridge of her nose and said, ”There’s no spare car at home to come and pick you up. You and Zhuangzhuang will follow us to Jiang City for now. Someone from home will come over there to get you back.”

Luo Yirui pursed his lips and said, ”Mom, what about school?”

Beisitian glanced at him through the rearview mirror. Seeing no excitement or joy on his face, she knew her son was never afraid of studying, ”I’ll ask your grandmother to get you a leave.”

”Okay, Mom.” Luo Yirui lowered his eyes, suppressing the smile that wanted to break out on his face!

Zhuangzhuang understood his little owner well. Seeing the little owner wanting to laugh but daring not to, he snorted a breath from his dog nose, seemingly disdainful.

Luo Yirui shot him a cold glare, and Zhuangzhuang immediately turned his head to look out the window. The last time he was in a car, it was Wu Yuekai’s, when he came to reunite with Beisitian. This was the second time, and Zhuangzhuang was actually very excited.

This journey would take over five hours, and it wasn’t all highways. They would have to travel a section of the auxiliary road, which was relatively difficult. Even though the GPS navigation was recently updated, it could easily become inaccurate. News often reported people overly trusting their navigation, ending up driving into a river.

Wei Zhongxun carried a map with him, stopping at the roadside to check it or getting out of the car to ask for directions if unsure, trying to avoid unnecessary detours.

Luo Yirui and Zhuangzhuang could get out and move around during these stops; otherwise, staying in the car would make them stiff.

After moving around the car, they saw Wei Zhongxun coming back with popsicles, and their faces immediately lit up with smiles.

Luo Yirui peeled open a popsicle and gave it to Zhuangzhuang, who ate it in one bite, while he leisurely enjoyed his own.

Beisitian saw this and couldn’t help but smile, sighing inwardly. They must really want to go out and play. It seemed she hadn’t taken them out to play even once in all these years.

Thinking of this, Beisitian felt guilty. Childhood is limited, and even if she wanted to save time, she couldn’t let their childhood be lacking.

Realizing this, Beisitian couldn’t stay angry. Though the journey might be dangerous, someone would meet them once they arrived, so she decided to let the children relax on this trip.

”Finish up and get back in the car,” Beisitian reached out and touched Luo Yirui’s head.

Luo Yirui was momentarily stunned, then grinned at Zhuangzhuang. This gesture meant Mom wasn’t angry anymore!

Zhuangzhuang spat out the stick, leapt into the backseat, and Luo Yirui followed with a bright smile on his face.

Constantly running the air conditioner could become uncomfortable. Wei Zhongxun turned it off and opened the window a bit. Zhuangzhuang immediately stuck its head out. Thankfully, they were on the roadside side, although it was still quite dangerous.

Zhuangzhuang yawned into the wind. As the car speed increased, his mouth puffed with noise, and his tongue was blown backward, distorting his whole dog face. Seeing this, Luo Yirui laughed and fell backward onto the backseat.

Beisitian and Wei Zhongxun joined in the laughter.

Zhuangzhuang was completely enjoying himself. Eventually, he simply kept his mouth closed, letting his lips flutter in the wind.

With one person and one dog for company, the journey was filled with laughter.

As they neared their destination, Luo Yirui hesitated the entire way but finally gathered the courage to ask, ”Mom, can I help you find Uncle Jiang? I can already make a Spiritual Talisman. I’m an adult now!”
