I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 941: Chapter 940: Deceived

Despite being young, Luo Yirui could distinguish the tone of the conversation. Upon hearing the words, he knew the matter wouldn’t be easily resolved; otherwise, given Uncle Yuan’s temperament, he would never have explained the subsequent events in advance.

If Uncle Yuan said this, it’s most likely to develop to this point.

Luo Yirui’s face turned pale. Despite showing some fear, he remained relatively calm, which made Wei Zhongyuan nod subtly and breathe a sigh of relief.

”Uncle Yuan, I know fighting talismans. Why don’t we fight them together?” Luo Yirui suggested.

This was more of a probing statement. He knew that if they could fight, Wei Zhongyuan definitely wouldn’t want him to escape alone, though he couldn’t help but hold a sliver of hope.

Wei Zhongyuan turned the steering wheel sharply into the pedestrian street. It wasn’t very crowded at this hour, but it was busier than other roads. The sudden rush of a car caused panic, with many people screaming and scrambling to get out of the way.

The two cars behind followed without hesitation. Unlike Wei Zhongyuan, who avoided pedestrians and honked the horn, they collided into people without caring for their lives.

Seeing this, Wei Zhongyuan felt a chill and resolved not to let Luo Yirui fall into these people’s hands.

”Little Rui, if you’re ever alone, stay low-key and don’t use fighting talismans unless absolutely necessary! Remember!” Wei Zhongyuan said solemnly.

Luo Yirui’s face turned even paler with a tight expression; he realized he might have to go alone soon!

Wei Zhongyuan used some obstacles to widen the gap between the two cars, only to crash into a large stone pillar in the square, the front car hood rolling up and the vehicle nearly totaled.

Wei Zhongyuan closed his eyes for a moment, the collision dazing him briefly, but he quickly regained clarity, immediately getting out of the car to bring Luo Yirui down, only to find the pursuers were already upon them.

Unless he could buy time, both would end up surrounded!

”Remember what I said! Run!” Wei Zhongyuan commanded coldly.

Luo Yirui knew staying would put Wei Zhongyuan in a more passive situation, so he didn’t hesitate and immediately turned to run toward the crowd.

The occupants of the two cars got out, spotting Luo Yirui escaping, and five people immediately chased after him.

Wei Zhongyuan’s face darkened; they were indeed targeting Luo Yirui!

”Get back here!” Wei Zhongyuan sneered, swiftly throwing five fighting talismans, which seemed to have a mind of their own, sticking to the napes of the five pursuers.

With Wei Zhongyuan’s stern shout, the five men screamed miserably, and the air around was instantly filled with the smell of burnt meat!

This brief halt allowed Luo Yirui to disappear into the crowd. Meanwhile, the other three trying to pursue couldn’t find him, only casting cold glances at Wei Zhongyuan.

Faced with this sudden group, witnessing the use of a Yellow Talisman, the surrounding crowd was exclaiming in disbelief; some even searched for cameras, thinking it was a film shoot.

Seeing Luo Yirui vanished, Wei Zhongyuan relaxed slightly, coolly confronting the group, ”Who are you?”

The other five touched their necks with relieving talismans, easing their pain, but the large area of burn on their napes wasn’t something that could be immediately healed, angering them greatly.

Now that Luo Yirui was out of reach, they decided to deal with Wei Zhongyuan first!

The eight exchanged a glance, surrounding Wei Zhongyuan. His expression remained unchanged, but only he knew this wasn’t his strong suit.

The fleeing Luo Yirui dared not stop, continually running toward crowded places, with people’s attention mostly drawn to the group, leaving none to notice him.

As he ran, Luo Yirui kept scanning the area, looking for police.

He knew the police had guns!

In his hurried escape, he counted eight pursuers. No matter how skilled Uncle Yuan was, he couldn’t handle eight people alone, urging Luo Yirui to quickly find help.

He ran out of the pedestrian street and the square but failed to find police officers. They’re not everywhere nor always patrolling the streets.

”Hey kid, what’s wrong? Do you need help?”

In his panic, a young man in his twenties with a bicycle noticed him. Luo Yirui nodded promptly, ”I need to find the police station. Do you know where the nearest one is, sir?”

The young man nodded, ”Hop on, I’ll take you there.”

Luo Yirui was thrilled, quickly jumping onto the bike’s backseat, and the young man pedaled eastward.

”What trouble did you encounter, why do you need the police station? Where are your family members?” The young man asked as he pedaled.

This man’s help warmed Luo Yirui’s heart, although he knew there were certain things he shouldn’t disclose.

”I went traveling with my uncle, but somehow provoked some people. They surrounded us, my uncle held them off, and I escaped.” Luo Yirui explained roughly, hoping the kind man understood his urgency to quickly reach the police station.

The young man replied without turning his head, ”That’s pretty urgent, you’re not a local, are you?”

”No, my home is in Beijing.” Luo Yirui responded.

”Good then.”

Luo Yirui paused, ”What do you mean, sir?”

The young man replied, ”Nothing, hold on tight, we’ll reach the police station soon.”

Luo Yirui felt a tinge of doubt. Although shaken by recent events, he hadn’t completely lost his senses. He looked up and noticed they were heading to less crowded areas.

”Sir, where exactly is the police station? I’m in a hurry.” Luo Yirui asked casually.

”Almost there, almost there.” The young man said, pedaling faster.

Luo Yirui sensed something was wrong. As the man turned into an alley, a wave of unease surged in him, prompting him to leap off the bike without hesitation.

The bicycle was moving quite fast, and Luo Yirui’s sudden jump resulted in a few tumble. He suffered several scratches. The man was startled by the child’s unexpected move, hurriedly squeezing the brakes to stop.

”What are you doing?” The young man said while approaching quickly, leaving the bike unattended.

Luo Yirui, enduring the pain, backed away, ”You’re not taking me to the police station!”

At this instant, the young man chuckled, ”Of course, uncle is taking you to the station, just come along, and uncle will get you some candy!”

Luo Yirui realized he was deceived and turned to run, but being a child, the man quickly caught up, grabbing his collar.
