I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 943: Chapter 942: Escaped

Since the orders came from above, Lu Cheng took Luo Yirui back to the police station.

To be honest, Lu Cheng had been a beat cop for so many years and had never encountered something like this before. He felt like laughing, but seeing how serious those people seemed, he started to think it might not be fake.

Especially since he thought he would get a scolding for reporting something like this, the surprising reaction from above made him feel absurd, as if something had suddenly shattered his calm world.

Luo Yirui followed Lu Cheng back to the police station, feeling uneasy. What happened to Uncle Yuan? Had he been captured by those people or managed to escape?

He was restless, waiting for Lu Cheng to come in. As soon as Lu Cheng entered, Luo immediately stood up and asked, ”Officer, what happened to my uncle?”

Lu Cheng rubbed his nose, unsure how to tell such a small child. After thinking for a moment, he decided to tell the truth, ”From what people around said, your uncle was probably taken by those people. But don’t worry, nothing will happen, we’ll investigate this matter first, and once we’ve contacted your parents, we’ll file a case immediately.”

He thought the child might not understand what he said, so he asked, ”Do you know your home address? Do you know your parents’ names and phone numbers?”

Luo Yirui nodded. His mom had been teaching him these things since he was aware until he and his sisters ingrained them in their memory, just in case they found themselves alone outside one day, they could find their way home.

However, due to previous events and his parents’ special status, he wouldn’t casually tell his home address and his parents’ information to others, not even to the police officer!

Luo Yirui said, ”Officer, may I borrow your phone? I’ll call myself.”

Lu Cheng was just about to say he would give him the phone to notify his parents when he heard Luo say this, and he immediately smiled. This child was quite independent, it seemed his family had educated him well. Especially in such situations, the child didn’t break down crying for his mom but instead calmly sought help—truly commendable.

His own son was two years older than this kid, yet as soon as he was dissatisfied or not pleased, he would throw a tantrum daily, and nothing calmed him. Comparing them really brought anger.

”The phone is on the table, you can use it, remember to dial the area code,” Lu Cheng said, liking Luo Yirui.

Luo nodded. Despite appearing calm, he was actually feeling lost inside. He only wanted to contact his parents at this moment.

”Captain Lu! Captain Lu! People from above have arrived, come out to meet them quick!” A policeman hurried to the doorway and said.

Luo already had the phone in hand, hearing Lu Cheng’s hurried steps going out, he turned his head to look. Through the half-transparent glass door, he saw a few men get out of a car outside.

Seeing one of the men, Luo was shocked. A chill rushed over him, and he dropped the phone in haste and turned to run!

Luo ran without a sense of direction inward, rushing through the hallway and spotting a door at the end, he dashed towards it without thinking, that was the police station’s courtyard.

Now he only wanted to escape from here, he remembered that man clearly from before, one of the people who stopped him and Uncle Yuan among that group!

But he clearly heard the officer outside yelling, saying it was the leaders who came, why were those bad people here instead!

The adult world is indeed complicated, no wonder Uncle Yuan said he couldn’t help. His mind was in chaos, his instincts told him he had to escape, not letting that person find him!

Luo dashed into the back courtyard, immediately heading for a red-painted iron gate on the west end. The gate was locked, seemingly not opened for a long time.

The courtyard was empty with just a few police vans, nothing to use for climbing over, Luo was anxious, what should he do now?

At this time, Lu Cheng had already led the arriving leaders inside.

”Where’s the kid?” One of the men asked immediately after glancing around.

Lu Cheng turned his head, saw the receiver crookedly lying on the table, faint beeping sounds coming from it, but the little fellow was nowhere to be seen.

”He was just here, maybe he went to the bathroom?”

Lu Cheng turned, ”Please wait here; I’ll have someone look for him.”

The two who came were from the prefectural city’s public security bureau. Although he didn’t recognize them, they were both actual division-level officers, much higher than his little sub-section rank.

Actually, seeing these two, his heart again began to ponder. Although the matter was strange, it didn’t seem necessary for two division-level officers to come rushing here, and they didn’t seem focused on the case, rather on that kid.

This thought flashed in Lu Cheng’s mind, he dared not think further.

The officer sent out had just left not long, one of the men stood up, Lu remembered this man was surnamed Niu.

”I’ll take a look,” the leader surnamed Niu said and looked at Lu, who hurriedly got up to lead the way, already quite sure that the sudden leaders were here for that child.

An increasing number of doubts swirled in Lu Cheng’s mind, yet none showed on his face.

Leading the two on a tour around the hallway, they also searched the restroom, and the officer sent out returned, reporting Luo Yirui wasn’t found. Lu Cheng was taken aback, the kid was just under his nose, how could he have run off to where?

This time, before Lu could say anything, those two men headed to the backyard first, moving quickly, pushing open the backyard door, surveying the courtyard at a glance, both simultaneously looked toward the large iron gate on the west.

Beneath the large iron gate, a chair was set, with a stool on top, clearly indicating someone had just left the police station from here!

The leader surnamed Niu turned around, coldly instructed, ”Immediately dispatch people to find him, this child’s parents are involved in a major case, he must be found!”

Lu Cheng listened, his heart dawning in realization, so that’s how it was...wait, but something still felt off, though he couldn’t pinpoint what. Yet, the immediate task was to find the child.

The police station dispatched two police cars, officers and supervisors on shift were sent out, starting from behind the large iron gate, searching the direction Luo possibly escaped.

Since the orders came from high-ranking leaders, the police station almost mobilized entirely, the two leaders waited at the station for news.

The station’s kitchen was outsourced, Master Bao responsible for procurement watched the rare large-scale mobilization of police force, discussing it with colleagues for a long time, though it wasn’t their business to know these matters.

Seeing it was time to procure, knowing the market would have fresh produce arriving, Master Bao habitually caught the first wave, driving the procurement van out of the police station.
