I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 911: Chapter 910: The Unruly Senior Brother

Qingyu has added a new member. While Cheng Shuwei and others were curious, they also knew the newcomer might have other matters to attend to. So after saying a few words, they departed with Zhou Tongxuan.

Once they left and outsiders were gone, the remaining people felt more at ease. Wei Zhongxun no longer needed to put on an act. He grabbed a stool and sat at a distance not too close but not too far from Xing Jun, resting his chin and observing him.

This was Liu Yuzhu’s first time seeing someone in the sect from her own age group; others were either older or younger. Brother Ping’an and Brother Tianji were not part of the circle, and some topics were hard to discuss with them, so she was quite curious.

Jiang Xin seemed preoccupied; his adoptive father was still missing, so he wasn’t in the mood. He glanced at Xing Jun a few times and then looked away.

Desan and Qiao Hongjie stood on the side, holding their chins and watching Xing Jun. Not for any other reason, but because at Xing Jun’s age, Beisitian was still willing to take him under her wing, and her intention seemed very strong, which indicated that this youth must be unique.

”Indeed, his spirit is extraordinary,” said Qiao Hongjie.

The implication in his words was full of doubt. The youth’s spirit was indeed abundant compared to others, which was quite impressive without nurturing, but in Qingyu, anyone could surpass him, so it couldn’t be the reason.

Desan raised a brow, ”Could it be a physical condition?”

Qiao Hongjie nodded, ”That’s quite possible, but Miss Jiale’s items haven’t been brought back yet. Can we tell without testing?”

Previously, they suspected Luo Yirui’s physical condition was unusual. Bei Jiale volunteered to gather various herbs for testing. Since the herbs were very difficult to find, only half have been collected so far.

The herbs used to test physical conditions are quite rare, and there are no related instruments. Whether in past lives or now, this field is quite backward, given how rare the Mystic Doctor group is.

Xing Jun’s face was tense, which made him appear serious and aloof. He wanted to maintain his usual image and not show fear, but the fine beads of sweat on his forehead betrayed him.

Why are these people staring at him like this? They’re all nuts!

”Alright, you’re scaring him.” Beisitian returned after sending Cheng Shuwei and the others off and was simultaneously amused and helpless when she saw this scene.

Wei Zhongxun pouted and said, ”Master, you say we’re scaring him, but if you recruited more junior brothers and sisters regularly, would we be so intrigued?”

Liu Yuzhu nodded repeatedly, though she didn’t dare to joke around like Brother Xun... Hmm, as for why she called him Brother Xun rather than Senior Brother, it’s because the rivalry between Brother Zhi and Brother Xun for the senior apprentice title hasn’t been resolved yet, so she must call them like this...

Speaking of which, Brother Zhi and Brother Xun were apprenticed together, no wonder they’re so close. Gentle Brother Zhi only becomes agitated in Brother Xun’s presence.

Liu Yuzhu suddenly thought of a question; she joined earlier, so doesn’t that make her the Senior Sister?

With this thought, Liu Yuzhu looked at Xing Jun with eyes full of excitement, causing more sweat to appear on Xing Jun’s forehead...

”Xing Jun, everyone here is with Qingyu. Elder Qiao is a Guest Elder of Qingyu, not an outsider. So I must ask you again, are you willing to join the Qingyu School and learn medicine with me?”

Xing Jun raised his head. Despite being very nervous, he felt this question deserved a serious answer. Though the people here seemed odd, he was here for Sister Bei, so he shouldn’t worry about the others!

Even with this mentality, Xing Jun couldn’t help but feel a little different inside because the looks directed at him carried neither coldness nor rejection, nor disdain or contempt.

”Sister Bei, I’m willing to join!” Xing Jun answered earnestly.

Beisitian smiled, ”If that’s the case, you need to change how you address me. From now on, call me Master.”

”Master!” Xing Jun nodded.

Qiao Hongjie watched from the side, feeling that Beisitian’s way of recruiting apprentices was rather hasty. Even if Xing Jun’s physical condition was special, who could guarantee his character wasn’t problematic?

Raising a villain could be disastrous, yet Beisitian wasn’t a rash person. Is there a particular reason behind her actions?

Actually, character is crucial in other sects, but it’s paramount in the profession of Mystic Doctors. Usually, factions and families consider it during recruitment, requiring a period of observation.

Beisitian certainly wasn’t hasty. The child’s character can be observed in small matters. The youth has just come of age; the future is still ahead, so this is a good time to nurture.

Regarding the age issue, don’t forget when Beisitian started learning medicine under her master; she was over twenty, older than Xing Jun!

So in Beisitian’s view, age is never an issue.

”Since that’s settled, I’ll find an auspicious day for the apprenticeship ceremony. Until then, you can follow...” Beisitian said, turning to see Wei Zhongxun eagerly watching, ”You can follow Zhongxun.”

Wei Zhongxun’s face broke into a broad smile, lightly coughing, giving Xing Jun what he believed was a friendly smile, ”Little Junior Brother, if you have any questions, feel free to ask the senior apprentice! Oh by the way, I’m Wei Zhongxun, the senior apprentice of the Qingyu School. Let me introduce you to our members. Although we’re few, everyone is quite skilled... Uh, except everyone is a good hand at meals... ah, no, everyone is skilled as Mystic Doctors...”

Liu Yuzhu silently looked at Beisitian, Master... is it really okay to leave it to Brother Xun, who’s already given away a big secret!

Beisitian patted Wei Zhongxun’s shoulder with a feigned smile, ”Don’t lead him astray.”

Wei Zhongxun looked despondent, ”Master, how could you say that? I’m the senior apprentice of Qingyu School; there’s no way I’d lead the Little Junior Brother astray!”

”Hehe.” Beisitian walked away.

Wei Zhongxun chuckled as he came over to Xing Jun, threw an arm around his shoulder, and whispered, ”Come, I’ll show you your room, and when we have time I’ll take you around Beijing. Still not having a girlfriend, right? I’m telling you, Beijing has plenty of pretty girls. Follow me, and I’ll pass on all my lived experiences and my guide to picking up girls! How’s that, thoughtful enough for you?”

Xing Jun: ”...”

Jiang Xin: ”...”

Liu Yuzhu: ”...” Master, please come back, there’s a big bad wolf here!

Nearby, the two Great Powers laughed, Desan giving a glance to Jiang Xin with a touch of concern in his eyes; could Jiang Mingzhong’s issue be related to that matter...

The news that Cheng Shuwei brought earlier left him a bit unsettled...
