I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 740: Chapter 739: The Reason

Seeing her friend’s expression, Beisitian immediately knew she was up to no good and let out a cold laugh, ”You really have a good friend. If your friend wasn’t blocking your way, you might already be with Young Master Shi.”

Beisitian’s words made her friend’s face change suddenly, and Ruan Xiaoqiao was stunned, as if she was processing what Beisitian had said.

”Whatever you’re doing to me now will only cause your Young Master Shi to dislike you. Your Young Master Shi delayed you, so your friend could conveniently step up and win the affection of your future man.” Beisitian eagerly analyzed for Ruan Xiaoqiao, making the friend’s face turn as dark as the bottom of a pot.

”Jiaojiao, don’t listen to her nonsense. How could I covet my best friend’s man? I’ve always been helping you!” the friend said anxiously.

”Yeah, haven’t you noticed that the more she helps you, the further you get from your future man? Exactly, with her around, how could you get closer, and what fun would she have then?”

As Shi Guang couldn’t hold back any longer and walked over, the scene and conversation he witnessed made the corner of his mouth twitch uncontrollably.

The Great Power, whom even the Mystic Doctors present had to respect, what exactly was she doing!

”Beisitian!” Shi Guang gritted his teeth and called out.

Beisitian turned around, and upon seeing Shi Guang, she obviously paused, which made Shi Guang’s expression even more furious.

”Are you... Shi Guang?” Beisitian could hardly believe it. Compared to four years ago, this kid had grown so fast and was now already a handsome young man!

”It’s me.” Shi Guang’s expression was cold as he looked down at Beisitian.

Beisitian stood up. Four years ago, he wasn’t even as tall as she was, but now he was a head taller. His growth was astonishingly fast.

”You’ve really grown up so much!” Beisitian exclaimed in surprise.

These four years had flown by almost in the blink of an eye. She had been immersed in one clue after another, barely having time for anything else, and suddenly, the young boy had grown into an adult.

Shi Guang’s face remained taut as he squinted at Beisitian.

”You’ve grown up, and I’m getting old.” Beisitian was still very happy to see Shi Guang and joked.

”You’re not old...” Though Shi Guang’s expression remained cold, he instinctively added a sentence upon hearing her words and felt very annoyed afterward.

Beisitian smiled lightly, ”Look at that stern face of yours. If you have something to say, say it directly. Four years apart and you’ve become so pretentious.”

A flash of anger passed through Shi Guang’s eyes, ”Me, pretentious? Have you forgotten how you promised me before?”

Beisitian was taken aback, ”How did I promise you?”

Seeing her face full of confusion, Shi Guang’s anger seemed to have brewed to its peak. He stepped forward, looking down at Beisitian, ”You said you’d come to find me after the exchange meeting!”

Beisitian looked utterly bewildered. It seemed she did say that, but not finding him shouldn’t warrant him holding a grudge for four years!

”Something came up and delayed me.” After the exchange meeting, she received a lead, and even though it later proved to be false, she had spent six months chasing that lead.

Shi Guang’s face was sullen. Was he to be brushed off with just a ”something came up and delayed me”?

Back then, Shi Guang was still a fourteen or fifteen-year-old teenager, influenced by his family’s emphasis on keeping promises and loyalty. Since he had made an appointment with Beisitian, he couldn’t stand her up, especially since he really liked this straightforward and intelligent older sister at the time.

Little did he expect that after the exchange meeting, Beisitian would disappear. Shi Guang, bearing the pressure from his family, stayed in Beijing waiting for three months, yet Beisitian never came to find him, and not even a phone call.

This might have been a small matter, but for Shi Guang at that time, it was the first time he tasted the feeling of being deceived. He felt Beisitian had tricked him.

Because he trusted her, he felt deceived.

The more Shi Guang liked Beisitian at that time, the more he disliked her once he realized he’d been deceived!

Back then, Shi Guang’s insistence on staying in Beijing to wait for Beisitian infuriated his granduncle. At that time, his granduncle ordered that no one was allowed to help Shi Guang at all, so when Shi Guang exhausted his savings in the unfamiliar big city, he felt lonely and helpless alone.

At this point, the negative emotions in one’s mind would burst forth even more. Shi Guang would gnash his teeth every time he thought of Beisitian.

The proud young teenager at the tender age of fourteen or fifteen had a strong sense of self-esteem, but faced with loneliness and a life unable to continue, he eventually had to swallow his pride and bow his head to apologize to his granduncle.

Therefore, even after four years, this matter left an indelible mark on Shi Guang’s heart. When he saw Beisitian once more in the crowd, all his old grievances surged back.

Beisitian didn’t know what had happened to Shi Guang, but seeing his ever-changing expression, she understood that this matter must have left some impact on him. After all, Shi Guang was not someone who would hold a grudge over small matters back then.

Thinking of this, Beisitian’s attitude also became more serious, ”I was indeed delayed by something. I left you my phone and address...”

”Lies! There was no phone or address at all!” Shi Guang said coldly.

Beisitian was quite surprised, ”I placed the address and phone in the small compartment of your messenger bag, the one with a zipper... you didn’t see it?” Could it be?

It shouldn’t be. She usually put important things in that small compartment of her messenger bag.

Shi Guang stared wide-eyed in disbelief. Who would put things there? It’s such a small pocket, what could it hold!

”So, you never checked it?” Beisitian raised an eyebrow, ”I also put a bag of talisman powder in there as an apology gift... Apparently, it can be thrown away now since you haven’t seen it.”

Shi Guang pursed his lips at Beisitian, and after a long while, squeezed out a few words, ”I’ll find someone to check. If it’s not there... huh!”

After saying this, he turned and left.

Beisitian’s mouth twitched. The small messenger bag should have been specially made for Shi Guang’s youth, a finely crafted handmade bag. Could it be that he really hadn’t checked it once in all these years?

After leaving, Shi Guang immediately contacted the family servant, instructing them to promptly go through the box for the messenger bag he used back then.

Shi Guang sat on the sofa with a stern face. Only he used the small messenger bag. After growing up and not using it, he stored it away, and no one would have gone through it. If it was indeed there, it would be proof. If not, it would mean Beisitian was still deceiving him.

But this time, he wouldn’t be heartbroken over being deceived!

Thinking this, Shi Guang tapped rhythmically on the back of the chair, occasionally glancing at his mobile phone, waiting for the result from the servant.

Before long, the phone rang, and the result on the other end left Shi Guang with very mixed feelings.

The servant actually found a note and a bag of talisman powder in the small compartment of the messenger bag, with the note detailing the address and phone...
