I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 715: Chapter 714: Falling Into a Deep Sleep

A pair of twin sisters?

Beisitian lowered her eyes slightly, hiding the gleam underneath. Could it be that Jiang Mingzhong knew about this?

”I also heard it from someone, no one truly knows if it’s real,” Jiang Mingzhong said.

He thought such a disease hadn’t been seen for hundreds of years; how could it suddenly appear?

”When did this happen, and who mentioned it?” Beisitian raised her eyes, looking genuinely interested.

Seeing this, Jiang Mingzhong didn’t suspect anything. Not only Beisitian, but he himself was very interested in the disease. He knew he certainly didn’t have the skills to treat it, maybe just research it a bit. But Beisitian was different. With her ability and skill, if she studied it carefully, she might actually discover something. So he felt he understood Beisitian’s interest quite well.

”It was a few years ago, when my spirit wasn’t problematic. My old friend’s son mentioned it inadvertently, saying he had seen such a pair of twin sisters with the disease,” Jiang Mingzhong said.

Beisitian watched Jiang Mingzhong’s expression, noting he didn’t seem to be lying, and she believed he had no reason to lie, leaving her puzzled.

When Jiang Mingzhong’s spirit was intact, it was at least three or four years ago. During that time, she was still in Kao Village, unaware of Bei Jiale’s existence, and there was no way anyone could have seen the two of them!

Yet, if the twin sisters were others, it seemed even more impossible. This hereditary disease wasn’t like common colds and fevers; large portions of the population hadn’t heard of it. The Bei Family had such a rare hereditary disease, making it unlikely the same disease would appear among others.

”Could you take me to meet these people?” Beisitian asked.

Whether it’s true or not, seeing them would reveal the truth. Since they claimed to have seen the twin sisters, they must have seen her or Bei Jiale.

Jiang Mingzhong felt a bit troubled, ”Since I left the Mystic Doctor Association, I haven’t had contact with anyone from those days.”

He felt ashamed to contact them. As a Mystic Doctor, as a qualified Mystic Doctor, he inherently carried a sense of pride. He could endure mistreatment from his son and daughter-in-law at home but absolutely would not allow himself to be looked down upon by those people.

So, after his spirit collapsed, he never appeared in front of those people. He didn’t want to see their sympathetic gazes.

However, if Beisitian really wanted to meet them, he would definitely set aside everything and come forward.

”Can you still contact them?” Beisitian asked.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Mingzhong knew he would have to come forward. Without hesitation, he nodded and said, ”I can.”

Beisitian felt relieved at heart and nodded, ”Alright, Elder Jiang, you should make contact, and we will wait until everything is settled before we go.”

At the time, Jiang Mingzhong didn’t understand what Beisitian meant by ’settled,’ but a week later, he came to understand.

Jiang Xin took Jiang Mingzhong’s surname and was Jiang Mingzhong’s savior. Now, Jiang Mingzhong felt heartbroken about Jiang Xin, especially regarding his leg condition.

Perhaps it was a transfer of affection. After all, such blood-ties couldn’t be phased out just like that.

Jiang Xin’s leg was broken, and the bone was dislocated. If it were to be reset, it would have to be broken again!

This made Jiang Mingzhong feel troubled. He wanted to ask Beisitian for help. If Beisitian intervened, such a problem could definitely be solved. However, he himself was saved by Beisitian; how could he bring himself to ask her for help?

But he himself didn’t possess the ability to heal, of course. Previously Beisitian mentioned she could help him restore his spirit, which he naturally hoped for greatly. But such a thing certainly couldn’t be accomplished overnight.

He thought it would take at least five years, at the very least. He understood his own situation very well.

Jiang Mingzhong sighed. He really couldn’t find the face to ask, so the child had to endure it until the day his spirit was restored to heal him.

Jiang Xin was not very old, just seventeen. The orphanage where he was didn’t operate formally, and during economic downturns, all boys and girls over sixteen had to leave.

Without sponsorship, Jiang Xin began to wander.

Jiang Mingzhong told Jiang Xin about the situation, and Jiang Xin looked shocked, making Jiang Mingzhong feel a bit sad. However, unexpectedly, Jiang Xin wasn’t shocked because his leg couldn’t be healed right away; he was shocked because his leg could still be healed!

”Thank you, foster father!” Jiang Xin rarely spoke; seeing Jiang Mingzhong’s guilty look, he couldn’t help but feel moved.

Jiang Mingzhong didn’t expect the child to be so easily satisfied, shaking his head with a smile, ”Silly boy.”

After saying that, he sighed. What should the future hold? He couldn’t clearly foresee it now, but he had some vague idea.

Before his spirit was restored, he intended to continue teaching some knowledge of Chinese medicine, at least earning enough to support himself and Jiang Xin.

If he could find some protection from Beisitian, he should be able to successfully obtain such a job, avoiding being marginalized by those people.

At Jiang Mingzhong’s age, his abilities had become irrelevant, abandoned by his son; he needed a pursuit to continue living.

Now his greatest goal was to live well with Jiang Xin, heal Jiang Xin’s leg before he died, allowing him to find a job enough to support a family, not wasting the young man’s efforts to save him.

As Jiang Mingzhong was preparing to leave, Beisitian called him back, handing over, ”This is today’s medicine; drink it all at once.”

Jiang Mingzhong didn’t hesitate, reaching out to take it. Just the value of this pack of medicine powder was something he couldn’t repay in his entire life. All he could do now was try his best to help Beisitian, no matter what she sought to do.

Back in his room, Jiang Mingzhong dissolved the medicine powder in water and drank it. Jiang Xin, seeing this, asked, ”Is foster father ill?”

Jiang Mingzhong smiled and said, ”Yes... seemed like I wasn’t feeling well...” He intended to crack a joke but didn’t expect, after Jiang Xin spoke, he immediately felt a dizzy spell.

Before he could finish a sentence, he couldn’t stand any longer, swaying as Jiang Xin hurried to support him, ”What’s wrong, foster father?”

”It’s nothing. It seems a bit low blood...” Jiang Mingzhong had the last word stuck in his mouth as he fell.

Jiang Xin, caught off guard by Jiang Mingzhong’s weight, stumbled back two steps, looking distressed, calling out several times with no response.

Then, the door sounded, and Tian Zhi’s voice was heard outside. Jiang Xin grasped at a lifesaver, shouting, ”Brother, please help us!”

Tian Zhi pushed the door open, seeing the situation but showing no surprise, went over to place Jiang Mingzhong on the bed, and said, ”Your foster father is asleep; he’ll sleep for quite a while, likely until tomorrow afternoon. From now on, watch over him closely without leaving his side.”
