I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 714: Chapter 713: Remembering Something

Jiang Mingzhong and the young man returned to the hotel with Beisitian, and Beisitian arranged a room for them to freshen up.

The young man seemed a bit nervous, probably not expecting to be taken along, thinking the other party would just give him some money and be done with it.

While they were freshening up, Beisitian carefully inquired about Tian Zhi’s process with the Spiritual Talisman, praising his success in achieving it on his first try.

”Make sure to tell your Brother Xun this news when you return, never mind, call him and tell him tomorrow!” Beisitian said with a raised eyebrow.

Tian Zhi scratched his head; his master planned to use him to motivate Wei Zhongxun, but considering Brother Xun’s personality, a little push indeed wouldn’t hurt.

”I understand, Master,” Tian Zhi replied.

”If you’re not feeling exhausted, make another talisman for Elder Jiang before bed. I’ll give you some herbal medicine, and you choose which ones to blend in, as much as possible. Don’t be afraid to fail,” Beisitian said.

”Okay!” Tian Zhi instantly felt invigorated.

After more than an hour, Jiang Mingzhong and the young man came to Tian Zhi’s room.

Seeing the washed and clean young man, both Beisitian and Tian Zhi were momentarily stunned. The young man, at a height of nearly six feet, appeared frail due to being very thin, and his leg ailment made him seem weak. But upon washing, he seemed fresh and renewed.

The young man wasn’t particularly handsome, but with thick brows and big eyes full of spirit, he was the type you naturally felt comfortable with.

”Doctor Bei, I’ve figured it out,” Jiang Mingzhong said, sitting on the chair, while next to him was the dinner Tian Zhi bought for them.

The young man, having been hungry for a long time, had already started to shovel food into his mouth.

”Having died once, this time, reborn, I will live for myself,” Jiang Mingzhong said with a hint of an open smile on his face, though his eyes still held a faint sadness.

This is inevitable; as long as he remains Jiang Mingzhong, with Jiang Fei as his closest kin, this sorrow cannot be dispelled.

This is different from heartbreak.

”It’s good that you’ve figured it out,” Beisitian said, not wanting to persuade much further, as what she could do was help Jiang Mingzhong recover his spirit.

Jiang Mingzhong continued, ”In addition, after chatting with this young man earlier, I’ve found that he’s alone, having left the orphanage upon adulthood and started working. Later, during an accident, he broke his leg. Without money for treatment, it got delayed. We both have no one to rely on, and after asking his opinion, I want to adopt him as my godson, so we can rely on each other from now on.”

Jiang Mingzhong’s expression was somewhat complex; despite having died once and figured things out, he still needed an emotional anchor. Otherwise, life would be too lonely.

The young man, alone and having saved him, would become his godson, and if he could recover his spirit, he would find a way to heal his leg.

If the young man was willing to take care of him in old age, he would give him everything he had left.

Naturally, he wouldn’t force anyone to comply. This was discussed with the young man, and only after he agreed, did Jiang Mingzhong mention it to Beisitian.

The young man was very excited about this; he had roamed alone for so long, never expecting that saving someone would gain him a family.

Jiang Mingzhong still remembered a sentence the young man had said: ”The first one I’ll give food to when I get some is you.”

Perhaps previously, Jiang Mingzhong had just laughed at such words, but after experiencing abandonment by his son, where not only food but even life was ignored, this simple sentence touched him greatly.

For this young man, a bite of food is his life.

This outcome was unexpected for Beisitian and Tian Zhi; sometimes human connections are just that simple, a chance meeting can determine a lifetime.

Jiang Mingzhong knew how to repay the young man, but he didn’t know how to repay Beisitian, as what Beisitian and Tian Zhi had done for him couldn’t be exchanged for a useless piece of information.

”Doctor Bei, I hope to do something for you,” Jiang Mingzhong said.

Beisitian smiled, ”Just giving me that information will do.”

Jiang Mingzhong knew Beisitian would say this and sighed. Being a useless person now, even if there was something Beisitian needed, what could he do to help?

Jiang Mingzhong for the first time had the thought to regain everything he once had. He used to be a senior member of the Mystic Doctor Association, but after experiencing problems with his spirit and being schemed against by villains, he ended up in this situation.

If he could regain what once belonged to him, he would be able to help Beisitian in the future!

Having such thoughts made Jiang Mingzhong feel settled, and he nodded, saying, ”I’ll tell you now; Jiang Xin, you go back to sleep.”

Jiang Xin was the young man’s new name. The young man had no proper name, and after acknowledging his godfather, he voluntarily suggested giving him a new name, perhaps hoping for a new life as well.

Jiang Mingzhong, grateful for the new life given to him by the young man, called him Jiang Xin.

Having eaten his fill, Jiang Xin couldn’t understand their conversation, so he obediently left, eager to experience sleeping in a bed again.

Once Jiang Xin left, Jiang Mingzhong began to speak, ”When this illness appeared in the rare disease project of the exchange meeting, I was surprised, since the Shi Family and those people shouldn’t have much connection.”

”This illness I’ve only heard about, never seen it firsthand. It’s something an old friend of mine told me about, it should fall under the category of genetic diseases, very rare genetic diseases, almost passed down through generations. According to current medical terminology, solving genetic issues like this is remarkably difficult.”

”My old friend mentioned seeing this disease in a pair of brothers; these two were isolated from each other since childhood, but perhaps due to fate, they still ended up together, accidentally causing harm to each other.”

”What happened afterward my friend didn’t know; those brothers seemed to vanish quickly into anonymity, never known to people. That was during his childhood; as he grew older, people stopped talking about it, and he only discussed it as a miscellaneous illness. If the illness hadn’t appeared at the last exchange meeting, my friend would have probably forgotten it completely.”

Jiang Mingzhong poured out everything he knew in one breath.

Beisitian knew it was impossible to get everything at once, but Jiang Mingzhong still shared important information. His friend’s sighting was likely of an elder from the Bei Family, considering Jiang Mingzhong’s friend is now over sixty, and this took place during his childhood.

”Where did those brothers appear?” Beisitian asked.

”In Shandong, but I’ve heard they later appeared in Hebei. Your question reminded me of another thing; it’s said that a pair of twin sisters also had this ailment.”

Upon hearing this, Beisitian’s heart skipped a beat.
