I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 706: Chapter 705: Teaching a Man to Fish

Tian Zhi was quite surprised, ”Master means, he knows how to treat this illness?”

”That’s not certain yet, but what is certain is that he definitely knows some things about this illness.” Beisitian said, looking at the slightly stooped figure of Jiang Mingzhong.

This was just an intuition, although without any basis, Beisitian felt that Jiang Mingzhong definitely did not hear about this illness at the conference, but had known about it before, and possibly knew more than imagined.

”So what do we do now?” Tian Zhi was a bit excited.

Over the years, he and Wei Zhongxun had been following Beisitian around, watching those two little ones grow up. They hoped just as much that the two little buns could hold hands and sleep like ordinary sisters, without threatening each other’s lives, without suffering lifelong pain due to one mishap.

So now, with some clues finally in hand, Tian Zhi especially wanted to step forward and hold Jiang Mingzhong for a good questioning.

Beisitian said nothing as Jiang Mingzhong left the area and walked towards the residential building. Now that there was this tiny bit of a clue, it was worth expending a lot of effort on one person.

After this, Tian Zhi began to inquire widely about Jiang Mingzhong. Although Tian Zhi was just a young man, he was affable and soon got chatting with some of the grandpas who exercised in the morning, learning some things from Jiang Mingzhong’s chess buddies.

Since Jiang Mingzhong’s wife passed away three years ago, he had been living with his son, but his daughter-in-law was not easy to get along with.

In the past, before Jiang Mingzhong retired, the daughter-in-law didn’t cause much trouble, presumably because any sickness could be treated without needing to go to the hospital. However, after Jiang Mingzhong retired, the daughter-in-law changed completely.

”She’s just a woman who finds Old Jiang useless now and treats him like an enemy, always complaining about everything.”

”Right, Old Jiang said he wouldn’t work anymore, and he didn’t. No idea what misunderstanding the daughter-in-law had, but she just started causing trouble daily. At first, it was indirect comments, later she would point directly at Old Jiang’s nose to scold, saying he was freeloading!”

”You haven’t heard it, young man, it’s terrible. Saying Old Jiang just freeloads, useless at home, where does a daughter-in-law talk like that to her father-in-law? Her husband was raised by him!”

Tian Zhi frowned, ”Why doesn’t Uncle Jiang move out and stop suffering that?”

”Move out? Where to? The previous house was sold, and a new one bought in the son’s name. Back then, nobody knew the daughter-in-law was like this. Old Jiang himself has no source of income. If he moves out, they definitely won’t give him living expenses. What would he eat or drink then?”

The more Tian Zhi listened, the angrier he became, especially thinking about how a Mystic Doctor had fallen to such a state. It was truly disheartening.

”And what about Uncle Jiang’s son? He just watches his wife bully his own father?”

He found it incredulous.

The old man slapped his thigh in frustration, ”Who wouldn’t be surprised? Old Jiang’s son is very afraid of his wife. He won’t dare to defy her because apparently, her family has some background, which is helpful to Old Jiang’s son’s job. In short, they’re hoping to walk in-law connections.”

”This is what they call valuing benefit over kin. You tell me, is there a closer relationship than with one’s own father? But since the in-laws are useful and the father isn’t anymore, this is the way they act!”

The group talked one after another, soon revealing Jiang Mingzhong’s family matters.

Living in an apartment is different from living in a house; people don’t know family matters as clearly. The reason everyone knows so much is that Jiang Mingzhong’s daughter-in-law made a scene in front of everyone.

This was when Jiang Mingzhong was outside playing chess with them, and the daughter-in-law saw him on her way home and was displeased, saying Jiang Mingzhong was idle every day, not even able to buy groceries, just eating whatever was ready!

She said this in front of everyone, giving no face to Jiang Mingzhong.

Before, Jiang Mingzhong wouldn’t talk about his family’s matters. Who would want to share such disgraceful things? Since then, everyone knew, even if Jiang Mingzhong didn’t say, they could read his emotions sometimes.

Though Tian Zhi was just inquiring out of curiosity, hearing all this made him uncomfortable. Others might not know, but he was very aware that Jiang Mingzhong must have had a glorious past but ended up like this due to problems with his spirit.

This is an unfortunate old age.

After returning, Tian Zhi told Beisitian about it, emphasizing the things those old men described.

He also inquired at the place where Jiang Mingzhong’s daughter-in-law worked, finding out that she was generally hypocritical, only being close to colleagues who were useful or beneficial, showing impatience if they weren’t.

”Doctor Jiang’s son is the same way. Birds of a feather flock together. His son seems honest and taciturn but is also profit-driven, just like those old men said.” Tian Zhi stated.

Of course, Tian Zhi didn’t just report things based on one-sided elderly descriptions. He gathered information from various channels before summarizing and reporting back.

After hearing these things, Beisitian also frowned, murmuring, ”It’s really unexpected, to see the dragon stranded in the shallows so pitifully.”

A Mystic Doctor capable of integrating eighty kinds of herbs should be considered a master, at least within the industry. Such figures should receive public admiration, be revered by the world, even granted special treatment by the state, but now he lives in such an embarrassing situation.

”Master, are you planning to help him?” Tian Zhi asked.

Since Beisitian had him inquire, she must have intended to step in.

As expected, Beisitian nodded, ”Yes, why not help? People like his son and daughter-in-law who are so opportunistic should learn a lesson.”

However, it wasn’t for Beisitian to deliver that lesson.

”How should we help?” Tian Zhi said.

In his view, the best way would be for Elder Jiang to move out, have his own source of income, not be controlled by his son and daughter-in-law on matters like meals, thus allowing him to live without so much humiliation.

”Teach a man to fish rather than give him a fish.” Beisitian, seeing Tian Zhi’s expression, understood what he was thinking and said with a smile.

Tian Zhi was initially taken aback but then delighted, ”Master, do you have a way to heal Elder Jiang?”

Beisitian nodded, ”We can try, but we still need to understand his situation further. There are many types of spirit depletion; some are reversible, some are not.”

Healing Jiang Mingzhong would be beneficial for her to understand what she wanted to find out, and it was also because she couldn’t stand it anymore.
