I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 710: Chapter 709: Take Care

When Jin Lixia came home in the evening and saw that Jiang Mingzhong was actually at home, her face immediately darkened. She glanced at the TV, then at the remote control, and when she saw the remote just placed next to him, her anger flared up.

”Jiang Fei, you useless man, you can’t earn much in a month, but you sure know how to spend. Look at how much the electricity bill was last month, huh! And you can’t even try to save a little. All you do is watch TV all day, don’t know how to do any work, don’t earn a penny, but you’re quite happy spending the money...”

As soon as Jin Lixia entered the house, she began to rant indirectly. Usually, when she got home, Jiang Mingzhong hadn’t returned yet. She would complain that no one made dinner, and after a whole day’s work, she was still exhausted to cook for the whole family, suspecting that Jiang Mingzhong was watching TV all day and wasting electricity.

Now that she saw him at home, her suspicion grew stronger. He must have turned off the TV when he heard the door open!

Jin Lixia’s face displayed a look of pure hostility. She glared fiercely at Jiang Mingzhong, who was sitting silently on the sofa, placed the child’s schoolbag aside, and stood in the living room, simmering with anger.

She had no intention of cooking now, consumed only by thoughts of how Jiang Mingzhong wasted electricity during the day, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became.

Jiang Mingzhong said nothing, remaining silent whenever Jin Lixia was around, whether in the morning or evening. He endured her tantrums as much as he could, ashamed at the prospect of letting neighbors overhear their arguments.

But today, Jin Lixia’s temper was exceptionally bad. Normally, she would just make a few indirect comments and leave it at that, but today she seemed unwilling to let it go.

Jiang Mingzhong thought she would do like before and make a fuss at dinner, insisting that only the grandchild got meat while everyone else ate vegetables. Although it looked fair on the surface, he knew that after he went out, Jin Lixia would make something delicious for him and Jiang Fei as a treat.

Jiang Mingzhong understood this deeply, initially feeling suffocated by it, but as time went on, he just let it go.

However, now Jin Lixia wasn’t even making dinner. She stood in the hall with her hands on her hips, breathing heavily, glaring at Jiang Fei and then at Jiang Mingzhong.

Realizing the situation wasn’t looking good, Jiang Fei promptly said to Jiang Mingzhong, ”Dad, electricity is expensive now, let’s save money wherever we can. The money saved could buy books for your grandson.”

Jiang Mingzhong tightly pressed his lips together, and his heart felt like it was being heavily stomped on the ground after hearing his son speak this way.

”I just came back from playing chess outside; I entered the house just a few minutes before you all did.” Jiang Mingzhong said.

He really had just entered the house then. Normally, the three of them would be back by that time. However, today, they weren’t home yet when he arrived. At that time, he was only thinking about the talisman powder Beisitian had given him, and forgot about these matters. Had he known, he would have waited a few more minutes at the door.

Despite what he said, Jin Lixia was further ignited instead of calming down.

”Just got back? Look at our monthly electricity bill! We two work every day, and the child goes to school daily, essentially no one is at home using electricity except you. You’re practically the only one using all this electricity!”

”Can’t you consider us? Do you know how hard Jiang Fei and I work to earn money? This money is saved penny by penny, yet you just sit watching TV all day and let the money flow away like water. Don’t you feel any remorse for spending the money as if it came for free?”

”Think about how hard we work all day. You’re at home without work, so at least you could help with some chores, right? Instead, you wait for things to be done for you. You don’t even know how to cook and have to wait for me to do it when I get back, exhausting me. I earn money and come back still having to take care of everyone. Are you trying to kill me out of exhaustion?”

”I really can’t go on living like this anymore. Jiang Fei, you better figure it out. I can’t live like this for another day!”

Jin Lixia roared at the top of her lungs.

Jiang Fei sank into a chair with a gloomy face, preparing to turtle up as usual, waiting for Jin Lixia to wear herself out with shouting so he could then placate a bit and let things pass.

However, today Jin Lixia had no intention of sparing Jiang Fei either. She pushed Jiang Fei, furious and huffing, said, ”I’m talking to you, what’s your plan? If you won’t say anything, I’m taking my son and going back to my parents’ home right now!”

She didn’t say blatantly that she wanted Jiang Mingzhong gone, but her meaning was clear, intending to have Jiang Fei, the son, speak it out.

Jin Lixia wasn’t throwing this tantrum for no reason. She had gotten some assurance today. Jiang Fei had been relying on her aunt to put in a good word for him, hoping to get into the education bureau, and today she got confirmation that it wouldn’t be a problem. This gave her more confidence.

Even if they made Jiang Mingzhong leave, Jiang Fei wouldn’t dare do anything about it. His future job still depended on her aunt!

Today must see a resolution. She didn’t want an outsider to be part of the family, hating to even see Jiang Mingzhong daily, and still had to cook meals for him. Without him, life for the three of them would be so much better.

Once Jiang Mingzhong was out, she could comfort Jiang Fei with the good news, and things would be fine.

With that in mind, Jin Lixia was resolute, demanding Jiang Fei make a choice, which was undoubtedly to have him tell Jiang Mingzhong to get out of their home.

Jiang Fei was on the verge of collapse, caught between not being able to throw out the father who raised him and providing for the wife and child he couldn’t abandon, along with his future job prospects. Why was he being forced into this position?

Jiang Fei clutched his head and said nothing, as Jin Lixia’s pressure mounted with every word, pushing him to bang his head with his fists fiercely, yet even this didn’t make Jin Lixia relent.

This was the best chance to send Jiang Mingzhong away. If they missed it, without any news to pacify Jiang Fei later, it would likely lead to a backlash.

”Fine, if that’s the case, I’ll go, I’ll take my son and leave, alright? You all can live happily then!” Saying this, Jin Lixia turned around and headed to the bedroom to pack.

Jiang Mingzhong sat on the sofa, feeling as if he had aged significantly, his exhausted heart yearned just to sleep and never wake up to face such a scene again. He could not imagine what he would do if his son really made a choice.

At this moment, he even thought of volunteering to leave, as it would be better than hearing words from his son that would break his heart.

Seeing Jin Lixia’s demeanor, it was clear that today wouldn’t be an easily resolved issue. This would have come sooner or later, regardless of whether he came back early or late, Jin Lixia was bound to explode eventually.

Ultimately, Jiang Mingzhong didn’t have the courage to continue waiting. He stood up slowly, glanced at his son who was almost at his breaking point, and said in a deep voice, ”Son, Dad’s leaving.”

Upon hearing these words, Jiang Fei immediately burst into tears, yet he made no move to try and retain his father, and Jiang Mingzhong’s heart sank abruptly to rock bottom.

He stood up, gathered his few clothes into a plastic bag, possessing almost nothing else, this was all his belongings.

When Jiang Mingzhong reached the door, Jiang Fei suddenly stood up, and his own heart followed suit with a lift, only to see Jiang Fei kneel down with a thud, kowtowing three times heavily.

”Dad, take care!”
