Chapter 836: Chapter 819: Interception and Slaughter

Cassandra’s bow and arrow are highly intimidating, comparable to pointing an anti-materiel weapon at the door in modern terms.

Who would dare to move even a bit under such intimidation?

Others might be oblivious, but the Divine Guards repeatedly slaughtered by Cassandra know it all too well.

As soon as Cassandra spoke up, no one dared to poke their head out from the second-floor doorway.

Lann stepped with ”Stealth Steps” toward the stairs leading to the second floor.

Cassandra came to an agreement with him just by exchanging glances: to block this batch of Divine Guards from two routes.

The Hawk Trainer couldn’t hear the whispers on the second floor, but Lann could.

”She stopped us!” ”Why is she in Athens now?! Are the intelligence officers idiots?” ”Her crafts probably sank their ship at sea! How could they have sent anything through?” ”The mission failed anyway, let’s get out of here!”

A group of Divine Guards were thrown into a panic by this unexpected turn of events.

It seemed they had just arrived at Phidias’ workshop, overheard Phidias talking to someone, unaware that the interlocutors were Cassandra and Lann, and began their assassination mission in the dark.

But they hit a steel wall instead.

Lann leaned against the stairway entrance, using the Breath-Holding Technique learned from the Lonely Shadow Ninja Technique Manual, making his breath almost inaudible.

A team of Divine Guards was stealthily descending the stairs.

As soon as the first one came down and began to signal those behind, a large hand capable of covering his entire faceplate reached over his neck.

”Gah~Creak!”

The eyes beneath the faceplate widened like a fish hauled onto shore.

Experiencing implanted Bone Strengthening and Muscle Enhancement organs, Lann’s grip was strong enough to crush the elder iron faceplate with just a squeeze.

The faceplate, meant to shield against frontal arrows, caved in entirely with a metallic screech of distress.

The carefully carved elder visage was pressed forcibly into the shape of a palm.

The breathing and observation holes were deformed and displaced, nearly sealing off his breath entirely.

Unable to breathe, and hindered from removing his helmet due to its distortion.

The guard could only struggle frantically with oxygen deprivation, his armor plates clattering, colliding with Phidias’ workshop walls and wooden pillars as he staggered backward.

He toppled over, helpless as a dying fish, rolling and struggling with his unremovable helmet.

Right after Lann crumpled his faceplate, he was already on the move once more.

The clear, water-like long blade flowed out from his waist.

Lann, initially standing at the foot of the stairs, flipped nimbly with an agility that belied his physique, landing on the stairwell.

His presence nearly blocked the entire stairway.

The long blade in hand required no finesse, only a straightforward thrust from the waist.

The Divine Guards descending in a line were skewered like candied hawthorns before Aron’s sharp edge in an instant.

The Lady of the Lake’s Sword automatically adapted to Lann’s size, transforming into a suitable hand-and-a-half sword regardless of his build.

Its length easily pierced through three bodies.

Though thrusting the blade into the bodies of the first two guards came easily, when it was the turn of the last burly man, a spark of interest flared in the calm eyes of the Demon Hunter.

”A Divine Artifact?”

With two barely breathing guards sandwiched between them, Lann locked eyes with the last towering Divine Guard.

Flashing a grin, ”Interesting.”

The giant Divine Guard’s wide eyes stared, feeling the sharp pressure on the protective field generated by his external Divine Artifact dissipate.

And then...”Slash!”

A grating, tooth-aching sound pierced the air.

The Lady of the Lake’s Sword, having pierced two Divine Guards, was abruptly retracted by Lann.

Though the motion seemed arduous.

It was a technique.

The sudden creation of a Qi Flow Blade on the edge, the high-velocity air currents drew copious amounts of blood from the two bodies.

This was akin to both sheathing and forcibly extracting the blood from two corpses!

”Splat,” erupting into a dense, sight-obscuring blood rain on the narrow stairway!

The burly Divine Guard at the rear quickly raised his hand to shield his eyes.

The so-called ’Divine Artifact’ was a technological creation left by the Elder Race; its generated protection field reflected intelligent weapon characteristics.

Blood rain wasn’t classified as an attack, so it poured unimpeded.

However, just as he raised a hand to cover his eyes...”Boom!”

A fierce force directly sent the burly Divine Guard flying backward!

Only halting upon crashing into the second-floor earthen wall.

Phidias, huddled down the hallway, flinched in fright.

Lann’s kick nearly launched the burly Divine Guard off the ground, but before colliding with the wall behind him, a large hand went ’bang’.

Pressing down on his rebounding head after hitting the wall!

His side profile was pinned firmly in place, incapable of moving a fraction.

His blood-laced eyes, wide with terror beneath the faceplate, swiveled uncontrollably, but constrained vision offered no relief.

Desperate, he flailed his weapon, hoping to repel Lann.

A hammer-lance it was, with a head-high length and dual fist-sized hexagonal steel heads atop the shaft, capped by a trident spearhead.

In the past, a ’person chosen by the Divine Artifact’ like him could smash a large bull’s skull to mush with one precisely swung blow!

But at this moment...

As he barely mustered strength to swing the hammer-lance in an arc, with a ’clang,’ its head was firmly driven into the second-floor wooden flooring, unfazed even by the burly guard’s might.

”Splat!” It was done cleanly.

Lann’s eyes were fathomless, visibly threading with energy line routes generated by the Divine Artifact’s protective field.

The Lady of the Lake’s Sword drove diagonally downward from the left clavicle of the burly Divine Guard.

The blade entered his chest cavity through the left clavicle and emerged from the posterior right rib, piercing through the mud wall behind him.

Phidias, hidden behind the wall, instinctively shrank further.

He swallowed involuntarily, observing the blade projecting through the mud wall in front, retracting with slight frictional sound.

But only tense, not truly afraid.

Having recognized his friend’s signature weapon.

He had memorized Aron Dite’s elegant curve and artistic grace, being a renowned sculptor, sensitive to such things.
