Bear School Astartes

Chapter 822: Chapter 805: Forging, Magic Seal Variants

”About Valerian Steel, I’ve signed a contract on technology confidentiality.”

Belengar answered Lambert’s question, but his eyes were on Vesemir.

”Friendship is friendship, business is business.”

Vesemir gave Belengar a gentle pat on the shoulder, smiling easily as he spoke.

”You’ve signed the contract, so it’s a task. Yes, a task is a task. Lambert doesn’t mean anything by it, he’s just a bit curious.”

”This gift is already precious, we don’t have that kind of appetite. Don’t overthink it, Belengar.”

Lambert seemed to realize his words nearly caused a misunderstanding, so he quickly placed his hands on his chest in a gesture of resistance.

”Whoa whoa... I merely asked casually, how could you think so askew?”

His face indeed showed complete resistance.

”Although I really want two good swords, if you misunderstand this much, I’d rather turn around and walk away. Truly.”

Finally, the misunderstanding was cleared.

After all, they were all trained by Vesemir to be Demon Hunters, and Vesemir knew how to communicate with them and resolve misunderstandings and conflicts between them.

For this oldest Demon Hunter alive, it’s just a process of ’looking after children’ all over again.

Quite nostalgic indeed.

Afterwards, Belengar measured Lambert’s height and wingspan data and also got a sword once used by Eskel, who went out earning money.

With these, he promptly started the forge.

During this time, Ciri clamored for a real sword too.

Not a wooden stick, not a wooden short sword, but a steel sword with a sharp edge.

But Belengar refused her, on the grounds that she’s currently in a rapid growth phase, girls mature faster than boys, and her age is the one of rapid growth.

If a sword were forged for her according to her current body, Belengar wouldn’t mind the trouble nor the materials. It’s just that when Ciri truly practices swordsmanship to be recognized by Demon Hunters, the sword would likely turn into a short sword.

The ash-gray-haired little girl left unhappily for the training ground again, practicing the magic ’breathing’.

Afterward, Rong Buqiu also approached Belengar.

The little cat hugged its helmet, claws scratching on it awkwardly, somewhat like sharpening claws in worry.

Although brave in battle, it indeed hasn’t dealt much with people.

”Um, meow...”

It spoke softly.

”You want a silver weapon to handle spirits and ghosts, and you also want to use Valerian Steel to forge a unique weapon from your homeland—the Plundering Saber, right?”

Having traveled with Lann and Rong Buqiu for over a month now, Belengar addressed the little cat familiarly.

Rong Buqiu nodded repeatedly while hugging the helmet, its big watery eyes gazing up at Belengar.

”Anything else, meow!”

Rong Buqiu rummaged through the little bag behind it, then pulled out a small pouch.

It’s the type people often use to store coins, hanging it on their chest or waist—a palm-sized leather pouch.

Belengar puzzledly took it, opened it... ’crackle’!

Azure electric light struck his nose, making his whole body shiver.

The old Demon Hunter moved away instantly, astonishingly looking at the little cat, then the pouch.

Inside the pouch was a pinch of crystalline blue powder slightly tinged with purple, along with several pale hairs. They all sparkled with endless tiny electric glows.

”This is collected while playing with the Qilin, meow. Can it be used on equipment together... that’s how craftsmen do it where I am from, meow.”

Rong Buqiu’s little triangular ears twitched.

”Oh, what? Of course, of course.”

Belengar looked at the little pouch in his hand, and the smile on his lips grew larger.

”That rascal who tweaks my technique, now let me see what your technology is all about!”

Lann and Geralt didn’t linger after bringing back the forging equipment.

Geralt, now having nothing to do, confirmed there were more relics left by predecessors around Ker Morhan, and immediately went into treasure-hunting mode.

Riding out of the castle gate on a horse completely different from the previous meeting but still named ’Carrot’.

And Lann returned to the basement, beginning his learning journey.

According to Mentos’ estimate, after completing the learning of this basement’s materials, he should achieve the ’high school-level academic certification’.

And he indeed did an excellent job.

Mentos’ scientific planning and assistance capacity brought Lann’s learning capability to the level of humans in the Interstellar Era.

While the talent and sensitivity brought by Genetic Seed made him an undeniable genius in biology.

This talent is extraordinary, even more exaggerated than many Son of the Emperor veterans who’ve served for over a hundred years, and he has yet to encounter so-called ’limits’.

Whenever Lann wanted to understand something during his study, countless inspirations would combine with his observation and insight, shining endlessly in his mind.

The sparks of thought like stars in the sky, bright and numerous.

That’s why when he obtained a Magic Potion formula, he deduced optimization while learning.

When preparing antibacterial ointment for Triss with burns all over her body, he provided ideas while Mentos conducted the verification through computational power.

Upon proposing three ideas, Mentos told him ’it works’. Yet at that moment, endless inspiration still flickered within his mind.

Learning capacity, inspiration, insight, logic... Lann excelled in all.

This made him quite adept at learning new knowledge.

The Demon Hunters’ knowledge was absorbed in one afternoon.

Including advanced Magic Potion formulas, decoction formulas, sword oil formulas, bomb formulas.

It also encompassed many variations of the Demon Hunter’s Rune.

These variations were established during the Demon Hunter Order period as seal casting techniques, yet with the rise and split of schools, the Cat School almost lost even the foundational casting techniques of the five seals.

The Bear School did better; the techniques for the five seals were intact, and Quen Rune had unique uses, but that’s about it.

It’s said there’s another Snake School established in the south, which Lann hasn’t seen, hence their status is unknown.

The Griffin School possesses the strongest casting and magic research abilities among Demon Hunters, but their seal variations lean more towards independent innovation, such as the current Yakxi Rune variation Lann uses to communicate with Qilin.

Whether they can or care about traditional seal variations, Lann doesn’t know.

But it’s not crucial since Lann has now memorized all the traditional seal variations passed down by the Wolf School.
