Chapter 816: Chapter 799: Gift and Anger

Vesemir glared at Belengar until this long-faced Demon Hunter caught his breath, and seemed calm, only then did Vesemir release his grip on the other’s shoulder.

Belengar rudely shook off the hand on his shoulder, glaring at Vesemir while rubbing the spot where he was pinned.

”Son of a bitch... Your grip hasn’t weakened at all, old man!”

He cursed, while Vesemir just shrugged, unconcerned as he listened.

They were old buddies, so he knew this was Belengar ’listening to advice and backing down’.

”But those young ones don’t seem to understand your goodwill... Lambert, that prick, is clearly avoiding you.”

Belengar said discontentedly.

But Vesemir was quite open about it.

”We’re avoiding each other because every time we meet, we end up squabbling. But what else can be done? The kid’s prickly so we abandon him? Kick him out of the family, cut ties?”

Vesemir was afraid to stay here, fearing that Belengar would throw a fit again, so he talked as he led Belengar away.

Belengar did not resist.

”Alright, I can see you’re really old now.”

He snorted with his long face.

”Anyway, once we old guys are dead, the stuff below won’t be the young ones’ concern anymore.”

It’s only these two who could call a bunch of seventy or eighty-year-old Demon Hunters ’young ones’.

”But that’s you, I’m not so easy to die.”

Belengar said grumpily, while Vesemir just chuckled.

”Yeah, you’re quite the man now. A certified Grandmaster-level Blacksmith, your stuff sells for more than we earn in half a year just by selling casually. You can rest now.”

The long-faced old Demon Hunter shook his head.

Vesemir’s indifferent attitude made him feel like he was punching cotton.

”Alright, straight to the point.”

Belengar said as he walked with Vesemir.

”I’m not trying to hasten your death, and I wasn’t expecting Ker Morhan Castle to have so many people, didn’t bring any gifts. Feels a bit embarrassing.”

”Then I thought: anyway, my skills come with me, opening a furnace and crafting some handy gear for you isn’t difficult. What do you say?”

”Grandmaster-level Blacksmith’s skills, how could I say no? Of course, it’s great!”

The breeze blew through Ker Morhan’s courtyard, the sky looked like a sea with white waves.

Vesemir sat on a crate by the courtyard, resting his arms on his knees, looking at Belengar.

”But I feel... really, you just want to show off to us, right?”

Belengar’s long face first reddened, but then he took it in stride.

”Hey! I’m here to show off, especially in front of you, old man!”

”My life is rich and safe now, so what? Isn’t that worth showing off? You used to be the leader among us, but now I’m the capable one! Stop whining, just say if you want it or not!”

Vesemir helplessly smiled and nodded: ”Yes, why wouldn’t I?”

”Old buddies’ gifts, even if you give me a sausage, I’d still want it.”

”Hmph, if I turned what I give into sausage, it would stuff you to death.”

Belengar coldly laughed.

”Then why are you standing around? Help me set up a furnace, and get the sword-casting equipment I left at Ker Morhan out for me. What, waiting for the Grandmaster to move stuff himself?”

But at this point, Vesemir looked a bit embarrassed.

He scratched his bulbous nose.

”Uh, there might be a little problem.”

”What?”

”It’s just... uh...” Vesemir stammered. ”Do you remember where you placed that equipment back then?”

Belengar paused; of course, he remembered how his equipment was lost. After all, that was the direct trigger for his departure from Ker Morhan.

But soon, a worse guess came to mind.

Belengar’s face darkened.

”You all didn’t think about getting the equipment out for me all this time?”

”This, it’s just that no one at Ker Morhan has been interested in forging anymore?”

-----------------

By the time Lann came out of the basement, it had been dark for a long time.

But having stayed in the basement all the while, he was somewhat insensitive to the time outside.

Back on the surface, Lann shook his head, pressing his temples with his fingers.

As his body’s endurance increased, the brain swelling feeling from ingesting too much knowledge via Mentos had rarely reached such intensity in a long time.

He used this afternoon to memorize all the advanced formulas for magic potions, decoctions, sword oils, and bombs of Demon Hunters.

The highest level of these alchemical items and Demon Hunter formulas is [Superior], one level above [Enhanced].

Moreover, during this process, the warlocks’ ambitions and visions for these magic potions stimulated Lann’s own alchemical talents.

His mind agilely jumped among these formulas and the thoughts they conveyed.

In the end, it was his brain that got so exhausted.

And the warlocks’ ’pioneering theories’, as well as the research notes of Alzur and Maraspina, he had yet to start exploring.

But imagine, learning achievements of that level would only make him feel worse than today.

Lann rubbed his temples and walked towards the main castle at Ker Morhan.

Thinking of having a feast to replenish his brain with nutrition after such overuse.

But as soon as he got into the hall, Vesemir dragged him aside by the corner of his clothes.

”Now you need to help me, Lann.”

”What?”

The young Demon Hunter was still a bit dazed, not fully reacting.

But the old Demon Hunter wouldn’t let go of his hand.

”Belengar said he wants to open a furnace here and craft some good stuff as gifts.”

”Isn’t that a good thing?”

”But, I seem to have upset him.”

”Hmm?”

Lann raised an eyebrow, smelling some drama.

Belengar, this guy, didn’t have a bad temper; he rarely got angry in general circumstances.

Now he said he wanted to give gifts, but he’s angry? What’s going on?

Then Vesemir began to explain the story to Lann, his face full of bitterness.

The combination with his bulbous nose had a bit of humor to it.

”Belengar once wanted to forge a Thorne Sword at Ker Morhan, his skills were awful at the time, and I once gave him some advice...”

The Thorne Sword is a type of Silver Sword. It’s quite famous across the continent.

Users of Silver Swords weren’t limited to Demon Hunters alone, during those rampant monster years, having a Silver Sword at home met security and decorative needs, a matter of pride.

”Back then, he didn’t let anyone near his anvil, so all I could do was give advice.”

”But eventually, the whole matter fell into the hands of demons.”
