Chapter 826: Chapter 809: The Qilin’s Might

Wanting to retreat and conduct research in seclusion is impossible, even in this magical world, where materials are scattered everywhere.

Commercial operations and logistics are required to gather supplies into the hands of those who need them.

Therefore, in this world, well-known alchemists can’t live in remote areas with eccentric and reclusive habits as portrayed in storybooks.

They must seek sponsorship for their experiments and set up laboratories in places with large circulation and variety of resources to facilitate receiving raw materials.

As a result, due to various constraints, the major cities of the kingdom are actually where high-level alchemists gather.

And Ker Morhan...considering the lack of impact from portals, no traveling merchant has visited in the past century.

”Well, indeed a remarkable talent.”

Vesemir didn’t say much, just sighed with his hands on his hips.

”Even those warlocks who look down on others probably don’t possess more outstanding alchemical talent than you.”

While he praised him, the old demon hunter’s expression wasn’t optimistic.

After a brief silence, Vesemir looked up into Lann’s eyes.

”...I hope you remember your promise, child.”

”Of course.” Lann agreed without hesitation. ”Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to stand myself.”

The old man nodded slowly, finally dropping the topic.

He had trusted this young man since they were in the Brokilon Great Forest, but he still couldn’t help but say a few more words about his concerns over the items in the basement.

”I’m not going back for now.”

Having seen their conversation end, Belengar interjected.

He always felt a bit uncomfortable discussing serious topics.

Now that the atmosphere had lightened up, he felt more at ease.

Belengar reached up to scratch his neck; he’d been busy around the furnace again these days, and with a couple of scratches, his nails were filled with black grime.

”Geralt has retrieved a complete set of advanced equipment blueprints from our Wolf School. I plan to study them seriously. Although it’s barren here and impossible to gather enough materials to truly create a set, researching the concepts and techniques as a reserve isn’t bad.”

”Then you’ll have to head back to Temeria alone. Can you handle that?”

”I am a demon hunter, kiddo.” Belengar pouted in dissatisfaction. ”Even though I’m retired, it’s not like I can’t complete a trip, right?”

”Actually, I called Eskel back.”

Vesemir unhesitatingly exposed Belengar’s confidence.

In this chaotic world, which is expected to become even more chaotic, even traveling solo is quite risky.

Belengar could handle a few bandits, but as tensions rise, bandits would easily recruit more men and expand their forces.

Eventually, there wouldn’t be any ’small bandit groups’; those surviving would have large numbers of bandits.

”I’m not too confident in him; I’ve asked him to come back and switch to a good sword to remind him. Then Geralt will accompany Belengar to Gos Velen to find work.”

”Since the city council and nobles have started raising prices, why not find a safe spot to earn some extra money?”

”Don’t worry, even though Geralt has a contrary personality and a strong self-esteem, this is not charity. It’s just asking you to be a safety valve for him. He hasn’t reached that level of stubbornness.”

Vesemir naturally ignored Belengar’s distorted expression and laid out his plan.

Geralt’s self-esteem was evidently stronger than the average demon hunter’s, often clashing with Yennefer due to her assertiveness and his pride.

However, for Vesemir, managing Geralt was too simple.

This guy was raised by him, he knew him inside out.

”If Geralt doesn’t prick up, then there’s nothing more to discuss.”

Lann shrugged.

If Geralt was active near Gos Velen, Airetusa’s influence over the city would easily ensure his safety.

”Just as Airetusa Academy seems interested in exploring a batch of ancient elf tombs, perhaps Geralt can take up that task too.”

”That’s even better.” Vesemir nodded, holding his belly—which wasn’t that large. ”The female warlocks are always generous.”

”Before I brought this little girl here, I never thought raising a child would be so troublesome. Sigh, am I really getting old? Back then, I could manage a whole batch of young brats by myself.”

Belengar quipped from the side, ”But she’s a girl, a princess no less. That’s different from us unlucky orphans.”

”...Go back to your ironwork, old thing.”

Vesemir waved him away like he was swatting a fly, chasing Belengar off.

-----------------

Lann said he was leaving, but considering his learning progress, he still stayed at Ker Morhan for a month and a half.

During this time, Rong Buqiu and Ciri persisted in their sparring; both had already mastered the breathing techniques and basic skills Lann taught them.

However, Lann’s thinking at this time was akin to that of Iwami Yixin; he wanted to see how far this talented little girl and a brave, hardworking Elu Cat could develop these skills.

Maybe those who practice the Iwami style to such an extent all have a bit of a wicked sense of humor.

So Lann didn’t teach them the more refined, minute techniques, waiting to see how they would perform on their own.

Lann’s curiosity about new technologies and techniques made him constantly remember the movements and breathing exhibited by the adult Ciri at the inn at the crossroads.

In the meantime, Qilin was summoned back once for Lann’s peace of mind, to check if it caused any trouble in Blue Mountain.

The expressions of those who had never seen such a creature were amusing to Lann in retrospect.

In terms of size among ancient dragons, it had a petite physique, gracefully jumping onto Ker Morhan’s walls.

The military-based construction of the wall seemed like a mere mound under Qilin’s steps.

Along with Qilin came a swiftly forming thick, dark thundercloud.

Looking up at the sky from Ker Morhan’s forecourt at that time, those aggressive dark clouds spread like ink poured over the sky.

The setting sun at that moment was wedged between two mountain peaks, gentle and bright, with clear skies.

Those sudden dark clouds were born from the rays of the setting sun, rapidly expanding, continuously advancing towards Ker Morhan!

The shock of the scene left Lambert, whose mouth was usually full of sarcasm, stunned, unable to utter a single cold joke.

No matter if this Qilin was bullied by the Golden Lion or found a way to bully back twice.

In terms of aura, as an ancient dragon capable of influencing celestial phenomena, Qilin had it in abundance.
