Chapter 397: 397. Spider Rom

The toxicity of the Demon Hunter Potion began to spread upwards through the veins.

The uncomfortable black substance climbed up along the veins from beneath the armor’s collar, gathering around Lann’s eye sockets.

The efficiency of both the original heart and the [second heart] began to climb.

The accelerated blood flow made the Magic Potion take effect more quickly, simultaneously enhancing Lann’s physical abilities.

Facing an Ancient God capable of controlling time, Lann heightened his vigilance to the maximum.

After the Demon Hunter surveyed the surroundings in this pure white space, he only saw one ’creature’.

On the calm lake surface not far away, a deformed ’spider’ lay quietly on the water, just like him.

The ’spider’s’ big belly seemed to be forcibly made from many irregular stones, uneven and full of gaps.

The ’spider’s’ head resembled a seabed reef, covered with dense pure black eyes.

If it were only this, the ’spider’ could merely be described as having an evil appearance.

However, many white, seemingly weightless flowers grew on its body.

The flowers swayed freely in the windless space, giving Spider Rom a touch of sacred divinity despite its appearance.

”No aggression... at least it hasn’t shown any aggressive behavior yet.”

Lann’s eyes also turned pitch-black, cautiously gazing at the superior being not far away.

Ancient Gods differ from what is ordinarily meant by ’Gods’.

Through understanding over time, Lann considered them ’beings living in a higher realm’, possessing higher vision and greater abilities.

Yet they might not display rationality or logic recognizable by humans.

In other words—

They are no different from beasts.

”Swoosh~”

Perhaps due to Lann’s gaze, Spider Rom awkwardly turned on the lake surface, directing its countless eyes at the Demon Hunter who suddenly appeared on this silent lake.

Due to the difference in vision, Ancient Gods are unlike humans, and observing an Ancient God concurrently announces that the Ancient God is aware of the observer.

Lann slightly bent his body, lowering his center of gravity. He was ready to confront ’god-level’ power at any moment.

Though he appeared calm and composed, internally he was driven by a seemingly innate stubbornness, refusing to show panic or helplessness.

In fact, beneath the studded leather gloves, his palms were already sweating, which was rare.

After all... this was an Ancient God who controlled time!

Finally, Spider Rom’s skewed mouth let out a roar.

It struggled to lift its heavy, clumsy body, and the roar seemed to exceed human hearing limits, so much so that the prepared Lann felt no sensation.

Its posture was like calling out to the sky.

Considering Spider Rom’s size and its seemingly sturdy body structure, Lann had already unsheathed the Turbulent Flow Greatsword in advance.

The heavy greatsword rested on his shoulder, flames burning on the massive blade.

It was a welcoming gift from Alfred, a hunting tool of the Hunters, known as fire paper.

Not knowing if the superior being could be affected by sword oil, and unwilling to take risks on this battlefield, he simply used what local Hunters trusted.

By adding a layer of fire, it somewhat increased the means of causing damage.

When facing deities, every bit of certainty helps.

The skyward summons ended, and Spider Rom quietly crawled down again.

Bright white pillars of light appeared around it, signaling teleportation.

It really summoned something from the sky.

——A group of slightly smaller spiders.

Although smaller in size, compared to Rom, they were relatively normal human size.

Lann, who was initially on high alert, slightly furrowed his brow.

He didn’t know if it was an illusion, but regardless... he felt these small spiders seemed not particularly threatening?

His palm gripped the linen-wrapped, non-slip hilt of the greatsword tightly, and heat flowed through his muscles and bones, fueled by strength.

The Demon Hunter’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Whether it’s an illusion or not, he couldn’t overlook the opportunity when the enemy just emerged from the teleportation glow!

”Splash!”

Water splashed!

Heavy footsteps stirred gigantic expanding ripples on the water surface.

Lann grasped the Old Hunter’s leg bone, drawing it across the junction of his gloves and vambraces.

The jagged leg bone efficiently split the skin, blood seeping into the bone, like encountering a sponge, the Old Hunter’s leg bone displayed an insatiable appetite for blood.

The residual movement technique within the leg bone was activated, swirling air beginning to envelop Lann’s legs.

Almost simultaneously!

Lann’s sprint made his figure dissipate like blue smoke, reappearing right in front of one of the small spiders.

With the spider’s crouched posture, Lann had the advantage to overlook those helpers summoned by the deity.

The Turbulent Flow Greatsword was already raised above his head, poised in a slashing stance.

”Bang!”

”Splurge!”

Without hesitation!

The massive weapon, more like an iron block than a sword, slammed down directly!

The immense yet abrupt pressure first crushed the small spider’s body, then naturally flattened several of its thin legs, causing its body to sink and smack the lake surface, creating a huge wave as tall as a person!

”The spider’s head is hard, but the body is normal.”

When the Turbulent Flow Greatsword collided with the spider’s head, it truly felt like cutting into rock, yet as it continued to slash downward.

With the changing angle, as the blade began cutting into the spider’s body, the large belly burst like a water sack struck hard, spurting copious amounts of blood.

Then the small spider lay motionless, dead.

Lann was slightly surprised; the strength of these small spiders wasn’t even comparable to deeply beastsified patients.

Although they could easily tear apart several ordinary humans, as a deity’s summon, it was somewhat...

The Demon Hunter had no time to ponder.

Despite the low strength of these small spiders, their number exceeded a dozen.

If caught by their sharp limbs, even ordinary steel armor might be torn apart.

Sweep the sword sideways.

The flaming-coated massive blade swung horizontally.

”Splurge!”*4

Four small spiders, unable to dodge, were struck by the greatsword and flung into the air.

The sword’s blade was so blunt it didn’t even cleave them directly.

Only at the final swing, the huge air resistance caused by four pressed-together spiders served as the guillotine.

Allowing the Turbulent Flow Greatsword to cleave out eight limb segments in a moment.

The encirclement of small spiders was abruptly broken, the swirling air beneath Lann’s feet exploded.

In an instant, the Demon Hunter, raising the gigantic blade again, appeared beside Spider Rom.

His target was this Ancient God; prioritizing the Summoner over the summoned creatures was far wiser!
