Chapter 378: 378. Slash!

A man who had never appeared in Yan’an walked into the great cathedral of the Healing Church.

Yet the church agent praying here did not seem surprised at all.

On this night, any strange thing could happen, so there was no need to be surprised.

Lann looked at the woman in the white robe who had twisted around.

She had white hair, a frail figure, and blood-stained bandages wrapped around her wrists. She was a far cry from the typical image of a powerful pope that people imagined.

Lann had once seen a portrait of the Eternal Fire Archbishop, Cyrus Himmelfat, in Gos Velen’s market.

Apart from the painting techniques that emphasized pomp and grandeur, the guy looked like an indulgent, gluttonous pig.

Yet that painting was finally sold for fifty Oren.

But Amelia looked just like an ordinary helpless woman praying in front of a holy statue.

But Lann knew very well—

An ordinary helpless woman would not be so calm when a strong man unsheathes a sword and walks toward her.

The eyes beneath the pure white hood looked over at Lann.

The Demon Hunter’s eyes suddenly narrowed slightly, and he halted his steps.

In this incense-filled cathedral... there suddenly appeared a stench belonging to a Beast Plague victim!

Amelia’s bones began to twist unnaturally, and as they deformed violently within her body, bulges began to appear on her robe!

Pain followed her like a shadow, and Amelia’s eyes uncontrollably rolled upward.

In that instant, the Demon Hunter smacked his lips.

”Tsk... another strange thing.”

At this moment, the Beast Plague was controlled.

However, it wasn’t controlled in the direction of ’healing,’ but rather, the power of beast transformation was being controlled!

This was something Lann had never seen, and something Henrik had never mentioned—a phenomenon where the beast transformation process was artificially controlled!

The Healing Church indeed has researched something strange amid countless cases.

Above the church agent’s eyeball, beneath the pupil at the lower eyelid, a symbol resembling an abstract beast’s claw emerged prominently.

Without upward-rolled eyes, this symbol would likely remain hidden beneath the eyeball.

A scream erupted from the already transformed throat bone.

The skin was finally torn apart by bone deformation, and thick beast-like fur emerged from her body, her hind legs transformed into backward-bending joints...

The blood splattered by the torn skin even sprayed up onto the walls of the cathedral hall.

Finally, when Lann lowered the arm shielding his eyes from the blood.

What appeared before him was a gigantic white-furred monster with forked antlers and a face resembling a wolf.

The pure white robe that Amelia originally wore had now become a blindfold for the monster.

Under the dim candlelight of the cathedral, the pure white monster even had a somewhat heterogeneous sacred aura.

One of its paws was tightly holding something, clasped to its chest.

This was Lann’s first time witnessing a priest transforming into a beast.

A small, curled-up body swelling in an instant into a monster with a mouth big enough to swallow an entire person... he had never seen such a scene.

The transformation of a Werewolf or a Beast Plague patient’s flare-up was much milder than this.

Like a canine’s panting, it made the beast’s black nose moist.

Along with that, the breath from its serrated teeth carried the stench of beasts wafting from its innards.

’Click,’ a soft sound, the Demon Hunter closed the Lady of the Lake’s Sword, which had just been partially unsheathed.

”I finally understand where the weapon difference between Church Hunters and ordinary hunters comes from.”

Lann muttered to himself.

The fighting style of ordinary hunters involved swift acceleration, paired with transformable weapons.

While Church Hunters preferred to use heavier, larger heavy weapons for hunting.

A hunter’s tactical choice had always depended on the type of prey.

Studded leather gloves reached toward his lower back’s Alchemy Pouch, burying half his arm inside, grasping something.

And the white beast before him directly swung that beastly paw, large enough to hold an entire person, down onto Lann!

With a sidestep to dodge, the footwork from the Ninja Manual wasn’t as swift and crisp as hunters’, but it was nimble enough to evade the attack.

The enormous paw that could cover a person struck the marble cathedral floor, immediately creating a web-like crack on the precious and sturdy slab.

The force of the impact shattered the cracks in the stone, with large clouds of dust and smoke rising up into the air.

A few shards turned into shrapnel, shooting out in all directions.

A piece was headed right for Lann’s face, but the young man didn’t even blink.

The shard collided in mid-air with a golden barrier, the Chaos Magic Power emitting a ’crackling’ sound of stress under pressure, but it was far from shattering.

As Lann’s body continued to grow, the quality of his Chaos Magic Power was also improving.

Now his Quen Rune should be able to withstand two or three close-up shots from a bow or crossbow.

The white-furred beast, having missed its strike, immediately tried to withdraw its hand for another attack.

But meanwhile, Lann’s hand, clutching something, was drawn from the Alchemy Pouch.

Amelia didn’t even have time to see what it was.

She only saw a massive black shadow, leaving a fan-shaped trail in the air...

’Bang!!!’

”Awoo!!!”

The pain came before the sight, and Amelia’s wailing echoed ceaselessly through the cathedral!

A massive black blade slashed down from top to bottom.

It had practically ’smashed’ off the beast’s deformed wrist!

The blunt blade first shattered the wrist bone and then tore through the skin and flesh on the bone under immense force and inertia!

The monster’s wrist was severed to the ground, and the mix of flesh and bone was sent skidding across the marble floor.

And that greatsword...

”Wooow! Awwooo!”

Amelia, cradling her severed beast claw, staggered backward, screaming incessantly.

If that could be called a ’sword,’ it would be too much of a stretch.

It was massive, thick, and heavy, with a blade too coarsely sharpened...

It was practically a hunk of iron!

Even for the outstanding hunters of the church, their Church Giant Swords adopted a leek-leaf-style tapering blade, with etched surfaces to reduce weight.

How could a human who hadn’t undergone ’Blood Therapy’ wield such a sword?!

”Pitter-patter...”

Fragments of bone and blood-ground flesh slid off the massive blade onto the marble floor.

The giant sword of Valerian Steel, after severing the giant monster’s wrist, still had enough momentum to smash a jagged rough crack into the ground!

Also emitting a tolling bell-like roar!
