Bear School Astartes

Chapter 363: 363. Yusefka’s Blood Vial

The sound of ”thud, thud, thud” came from behind Dr. Yusefka, as if a brown bear was charging on the hardwood floor!

Lann swept past the doctor in an instant.

His towering figure brought with it a pressuring gust of wind, like a truck speeding past a pedestrian, leaving Yusefka frozen and unable to move.

The air around the Demon Hunter was unnaturally turbulent.

The high-density air, already milky white, flowed and gathered around him as he moved, finally converging at his toes.

When he reached the beastly patient sprawled on the ground, Lann’s step perfectly aligned to deliver a soccer kick.

This kicking technique, like shooting a soccer ball, could easily cause death or injury without a weapon in hand.

But faced with a monster exerting three to four tons of force, Lann only felt it lacked power!

[Immortal Peak Kick]!

The landing point was the collarbone area on the side of the beastly patient’s neck.

The sound of fracturing bones and the compression of blood echoed simultaneously.

The technique of condensing an air hammer not only gave this kick penetrating power, but the chaotic airflow also propelled the tall beastly patient flying!

It staggered and flew from Yusefka’s side all the way to the staircase and then tumbled down.

Lann, without a moment’s hesitation, drew a Dragonbone Dagger made of Valerian steel from his back waist and rushed into the staircase.

The Yusefka Clinic had several floors, with narrow walls on both sides, only opening a small archway at the level of each floor.

So, the staircase terrain was quite narrow.

In this scenario, a dagger was far more comfortable to use than a long sword.

The frenzied patient cared not for the terrain, only driven by a single-minded urge to tear apart bodies and spill blood.

This mindlessness made it much easier for Lann to dispatch it.

The formidable force of three to four tons aimed to pin down the Demon Hunter, but Lann seized the broken collarbone he had kicked and pulled outward with the fractured bone shard...

The howl of pain echoed in the staircase.

The beastly patient had no chance to exert its strength, its entire body was led away by Lann clutching its collarbone.

And it was during this brief three-second restraint that Lann’s other hand slid the Dragonbone Dagger under its armpit, cutting an opening.

Then with a ”pfft” sound!

The Dragonbone Dagger, along with his palm and wrist, drove diagonally into the chest cavity through the opening!

The struggling of the beastly patient immediately weakened.

When Lann pulled the dagger horizontally from its chest cavity, the Qi Blade of the dagger tore apart organs and blood vessels, and the turbulent airflow sprayed a vast amount of blood onto the walls, the beastly patient had already ’learned’ to stay quiet.

After confirming the kill, Lann flicked his hand and looked up the stairs.

Yusefka stood with a frightened face, still clinging to the door frame, looking down, holding a blood vial in the style of a glass test tube.

Lann sheathed the Dragonbone Dagger back at his waist and walked up toward her.

”You’re quite strange, doctor. You feel fear on the Night of the Hunt, but your first instinct was to go and try to treat that patient who was already off.” Lann suggested.

”You should be a bit more mindful of your own safety.”

Dr. Yusefka, still shaken, gave a customary, gentle smile.

”There’s no choice, I guess... it’s a professional habit.”

Lann respected people with professional ethics, but Yusefka seemed to put her safety far too low on the list.

”But why would there be a beasthood infection in the clinic, has the plague already...?”

The doctor ran her fingers through her flaxen hair, pondering heavily.

The Demon Hunter realized the truth before she did.

”The scent of incense in the clinic has vanished, along with tonight’s unusualness, that’s why his beastly condition worsened suddenly...”

Saying this, Lann’s expression turned strange.

”Didn’t you notice the incense was gone?”

It was hard to imagine a responsible doctor like Yusefka would forget to replenish the incense in time.

Prompted by Lann’s reminder, Yusefka hurried off to check the burning incense, and after being shocked, set another block alight.

”How could this happen?”

The doctor muttered.

”It burned so quickly... I’ve never had to replace incense on the Night of the Hunt.”

”Maybe it’s just bad quality this time, burning too fast, just replace it for now. Then observe the burning condition moving forward.”

Lann said calmly.

And Yusefka seemed to easily accept this explanation without digging too deep.

”Looks like I should be on my way too. When I leave, I’ll help drag that beastly corpse out of here.”

Lann’s gaze passed over Yusefka, looking at the Yan Nan People behind her. The expressions on those who’ve survived the ordeal weren’t grateful yet more hostile.

Because the Demon Hunter was tainted with beastly blood, they assumed he would be the next source of infection.

Yusefka turned to see the Yan Nan People’s expressions too, turning back apologetically facing Lann.

”I’m sorry, kind Hunter... they’re all scared half to death.”

”By the way, please take this as an apology on their behalf.”

Yusefka, full of remorse, spoke as though she was the one who wronged Lann.

She handed the blood vial to the Demon Hunter.

Lann looked at her in surprise, remembering she had said earlier there was no blood suitable for blood healing here.

”This... it’s actually my blood. I made it while you were resting.”

As if understanding Lann’s confusion, the doctor lowered her head to explain.

”I was once a chosen Blood Saintess, but because the subsequent training wasn’t adequate... in short, this is my own refined blood, it isn’t ’corrupted blood,’ I hope it helps you!”

Lann took the vial-like blood container and placed it in the alchemy pouch on his back waist.

Though he didn’t want to inject Yan Nan blood into his body, he figured he could keep it until he crossed the celestial intersection cracks.

After conversing with Yusefka, Lann approached Viola.

”I should be going; I’ll find Gascogne or Henrik as soon as possible to get them to come here.”

”Thank you, Lann. You’ve helped us so much...”

Viola expressed her gratitude warmly.

”Oh, right. Please take this music box. Sometimes Gascogne becomes... unrecognizable to us, but when this music box is played, he becomes lucid. It has his favorite song inside.”

”Do you mean...”

Lann looked seriously at Viola, who grasped her ruby brooch heavily, nodding.

Has Gascogne already shown signs of beasthood?

If so, then there’s no time to lose.
