The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2609: A new Path of Power (II)

At Cain’s words, every person in the chamber felt a surge of anticipation. Eyes widened, and the lingering thoughts about the Crimson Exarch were pushed aside without hesitation. Desire replaced uncertainty. A new Path of Power—one capable of strengthening not only them but the entire army—was exactly what they needed. It was not simply an opportunity; it was a necessity.

The enemies they faced were not ordinary foes. The Curse Eaters and the remnants of the Root were forces that demanded more than courage or numbers. While the strength of the Scarlet King was unquestionable, even he could not stand alone against every threat. There were beings like Nito who could meet him head-on, and that alone made one truth clear: victory would require everyone to rise, to grow, and to shoulder their share of the burden.

”What kind of Path of Power have you devised, my King?”

Leonidas was the first to speak. His voice was solemn, yet filled with unmistakable eagerness. Since becoming a Knight of the Scarlet Throne, his strength had grown immensely. He no longer feared death, as his existence was tied to the Throne itself. As long as it endured, so would he. His access to nearly limitless psychic energy allowed him to remain in a constant state of Resurrection, and with Cain’s return, those advantages had only deepened. He had already reached a level where he could confront a Curse Eater directly, and that experience gave him a profound appreciation for the Scarlet King’s creations.

Now, he wanted more.

Cain saw the expectation in every gaze turned toward him, and he did not shy away from it. His eyes gleamed with a thoughtful intensity as he began.

”The Curse Eaters are, at their core, members of the Six Sacred Races who have fused their souls with other life forms,” he explained. ”Their preferred medium appears to be Depravitas, which makes sense. They are beings of psychic energy, making fusion far more stable. I have studied them closely, and there is nothing inherently preventing us from drawing inspiration from that power.”

”Do you intend for us to become Curse Eaters?”

Cipher’s question came immediately, his expression complicated. The idea was not easy to accept. Curse Eaters were their enemies—the very embodiment of corruption and invasion. To become like them, even for survival, carried a heavy cost.

There were practical concerns as well. Fusing foreign souls into one’s own existence was inherently dangerous. It threatened identity, stability, and control. And beyond Meylin, there were no Depravitas within the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe, making the process seem even less feasible.

Cain raised a hand, signaling for patience.

”Not exactly,” he said calmly. ”Creating true Curse Eaters is not something we can achieve, nor is it something we should pursue. The laws of our universe reject them. The will of the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe itself recognizes them as abominations and seeks to destroy them through tribulation. Even if we could replicate the process, it would be a flawed and dangerous path.”

He paused briefly, letting that sink in.

”What I propose is something different.”

With a measured breath, Cain extended his will, and behind him a gate began to form. Even in its reduced size, the presence it radiated was overwhelming. The Scarlet Throne revealed itself—not in its full, world-devouring magnitude, but in a form still powerful enough to make the very air tremble.

As the gates opened, a vast scarlet realm came into view.

It stretched endlessly, beyond the limits of sight. At first glance, it appeared beautiful—majestic landscapes bathed in crimson light. Yet beneath that beauty lay something far more terrifying. Every mountain, every canyon, every forest, and every grain of that realm had been forged from the souls of Cain’s enemies.

Hundreds of millions—perhaps more—had been consumed and bound there.

Their existence had not ended.

It had been repurposed.

They endured, endlessly, fueling the power of the Scarlet King.

But they were not the only ones who benefited from this realm.

High above, the sky was filled with countless radiant stars. Each one pulsed with immense psychic energy, illuminating the scarlet expanse below. These were the Scarlet Stars—entities born from the will and soul force of the warriors of the Nine Empyrean Suns Alliance. Each star had once been a Scarlet Leviathan, evolving into a celestial body.

The individuals in the chamber were not ordinary beings. They had ruled kingdoms, led empires, and shaped entire worlds. It did not take long for them to begin connecting the pieces. Understanding dawned in their eyes, followed quickly by excitement.

Cain nodded, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

”That’s right,” he said. ”We cannot become Curse Eaters—but we can learn from them.”

His gaze sharpened as he continued.

”Each Scarlet Star is already an embodiment of a warrior. I will strengthen that connection, deepen it. Then, I will integrate the souls of those who have fallen—those who now reside within the Throne—into a new structure. Through this, I will create an entirely new Path of Power.”

The implications were staggering.

This was not merely about gaining strength. It was about evolution—about turning loss into power, about ensuring that those who had fallen would not simply fade away, but would instead become part of something greater.

The more the group considered it, the more their excitement grew. This new Path of Power promised not only immense strength but also rapid results. In a war where time was a luxury they did not have, that alone made it invaluable.

”There are still variables I must analyze,” Cain continued. ”Several aspects need refinement before I can proceed safely. But with my current capabilities, I will complete this before the next major battle.”

His eyes glowed with unwavering determination.

The power of his analytical abilities, enhanced by the A.I. Chip Module, allowed him to study and decipher phenomena that bordered on the Fourth Realm itself. With the knowledge he had gathered from observing the Curse Eaters, he was confident.

He would succeed.

”For the time being, your mission will be to prepare the warriors. I need them to push their Ego Eternal Path to its limits and temper their wills. Even inn the best-case scenario, this new Path of Power will place their minds and spirits under incredible strain.”

The supreme powerhouses of the Six Sacred Races, along with the three Knights of the Scarlet Throne, nodded in unison. Without wasting a single moment, they turned and departed from the chamber, already preparing to fulfill their roles in the coming storm.

Soon, only one figure remained behind.

Meylin, the True Depravita of Original Sin, stood silently across from Cain. For a brief moment, neither spoke. Words felt unnecessary, almost trivial, in the face of everything they had endured. Then, as if guided by instinct rather than thought, they moved at the same time, closing the distance between them and falling into each other’s arms.

Their embrace was tight, almost desperate.

It had been far too long since they had seen one another. The last time Meylin had stood beside Cain was after the battle against the Ancient One, and since then, uncertainty had haunted her every step. She had not known if he was alive, if he had survived, or if fate had taken him beyond her reach forever. Now, with him finally in her arms again, all those fears surfaced at once, only to dissolve into relief.

They held each other for a long time, their bodies pressed together as if trying to erase the distance that had once separated them.

Eventually, Cain loosened his hold, though the smile that formed on his face was filled with a rare softness. Without a word, he took Meylin’s hand, and in the next instant, space folded around them as they vanished.

It did not took long for the Scarlet King to reapear in the void, along with Meylin and two more women.

Shura and Astrid.

Though their time apart from Cain had been shorter than Meylin’s, it had been no less painful. The uncertainty, the constant danger, and the absence of someone so central to their lives had weighed heavily on them. The moment they saw him, any restraint they had maintained shattered, and they rushed forward, joining the reunion.

What followed was quieter but no less intense. The three women gathered around Cain, and for a time, the chaos of war and responsibility faded into the background. It took a while before their emotions settled, before the storm within their hearts calmed enough for them to simply exist in the moment.

When they were ready, Cain guided them through the void.

The Nine Empyrean Suns Universe was a place of both wonder and danger. Vast stretches of emptiness concealed unimaginable threats, and since the war had escalated, even Alpha Omega Overgods could no longer travel freely without risk. Yet Cain showed no concern. His power allowed him to shield those beside him, and if danger arose, he could send them into his Inner Universe in an instant and retreat without consequence.

For the first time in a long while, he allowed himself to relax.

Every moment he had spent in Paradise had been steeped in peril, with death lurking behind every decision. Even after returning, the weight of responsibility had immediately settled onto his shoulders, demanding action and leadership without pause. Though his mind was extraordinarily powerful, even he required moments of reprieve.

And this—being surrounded by those he loved—was the closest thing to peace he could find.

Still, even as he enjoyed their company, a part of him remained at work.

Deep within his consciousness, the [A.I. Chip Module] continued its relentless analysis, examining every variable and possibility for the future Path of Power. Calculations unfolded at unimaginable speeds, refining theories and constructing the foundation for what could become the Alliance’s greatest weapon.

Rest, for Cain, was never absolute.

But for now, it was enough.
