Chapter 795: Serenity Before The Final Storm. Part-5.

Silver Mansion, Basement Area.

Walking through one of the many corridors, Lia yawned loudly as she asked Rio in confusion,

”I don’t get it. Why would you choose a basement to be the place for your advancement?”

”Moreover, from what I have heard, the advancement process to rank SS is extremely violent... when Professor Jin advanced back then, he caused such a big commotion that the entire world’s SS-rankers noticed it...”

Hearing Lia’s words, Rio shook his head and replied in a calm voice,

”I am not going to advance in the basement; I am just making the necessary preparations for the advancement first by polishing my mind and spirit in a secluded and quiet place...”

At those words, Lia could only sigh.

”Well, I guess everyone’s way of ascending is different...”

As if he knew what Lia was thinking, Rio replied calmly.

”When Professor Jin ascended to rank SS, he had already been a peak S-ranker for several decades, and he’d been through wars and many other difficulties in his life... thus, he had no need for polishing his mind and spirit...”

”I have been advancing too fast; if I want to get the best out of this advancement, I must completely stabilise my current realm and enhance all my capabilities to the best before taking the final leap...”

”Becoming an SS ranker is not just about physical capabilities, after all; it’s a complete ascension of mind and soul too...”

The gap between an S-ranker and an SS-ranker was not just about the existence of the world authority; an SS-ranker was a higher life form, which was on a completely different level!

By reaching rank S, a person breaks through their gene limiter and reaches heights that no other ordinary organism in the world can, but even at rank S, a person is still nothing but a ’Mortal’ creature.

Demigods are above the concept of ’Age’ and ’Mortal’ existence; unless killed in combat or any other accident, a demigod can live for thousands of years, and even when they die, their body and mind just transform into another shape.

The lake of wishes created after the death of the great magician Ivan that granted Rio the skill ’Concentration’ was formed from the dead remains of Ivan’s body, soul, and mind transforming into a completely new form after his death.

Demigods have insanely tenacious vitality and insanely high resistance to all types of attacks and phenomena; their power output is hundreds of thousands of times higher than a peak S-ranker’s.

Even though Rio is insanely talented and inhumanely strong for an S-ranker, even to this date, he still hasn’t reached the level where he can actually kill even the weakest SS-ranker in a head-on battle.

Raika was not even a proper SS-ranker; he was just a lingering will of a crown corrupted with miasma.

If not for the fact that Raika’s miasmic powers were extremely suppressed against Rio due to Rio’s unique characteristics, Rio would have never even managed to land a proper hit on him.

Only by becoming an SS-ranker himself can Rio gain a foothold to fight other SS-rankers on the same level.

’And if I am going to become an SS-ranker, I would obviously try to maximise my advantage...’

Thinking about various things in his mind, Rio cast his glance at his status panel.

’As expected, I am extremely close... even the status evaluation quote is filled with solemnness right now...’

Shaking his head, Rio glanced at his base stats,

’My speed and agility base stats are already maxed out, but if I want to do a ’Perfect’ ascension, I need to enhance my other stats to max too...’

When Rio said that he needed to polish himself a little bit more, he was not just referring to his thoughts about his future decisions and his ultimate directions; he also wanted some time to grind his base stats.

Nearly all of his base stats were about to reach 250, and with his imperfect sword heart amplifying them at all times, Rio was already very strong.

For others, such progress might be enough to attempt ascension, but for Rio, this was still not enough.

’I have limitless talent, so there’s no need for me to worry about running out of time or room for growth; I can take my time to lay a solid foundation so that I won’t have to worry about it in the future...’

For an awakener, a stable foundation was just as important as mastering their skills.

Just ascending to higher realms won’t be enough in a battle where you have to fight someone of the same realm; strengthening your skills and having a solid foundation would give you an edge above others.

’While enhancing my base stats, I can inspect the crown and the memories that the demon king was talking about...’

’I am going to be quite busy for a while, but once I am done with this ordeal, I can go to the demon continent, confront the demon king and make my final choice before ascending to the next realm...’

Rio knew that his schedule was packed full of work, so he had to hurry up and get himself ready as soon as possible.

”Here it is!”

While Rio was busy contemplating various things in his mind, Lia led him to a wide empty hall deep in the basement.

The place was dimly lit, but it was clean and completely empty, and it was perfect for Rio.
