Chapter 778: In the wake of Disaster... Part-4.

Beast Archipelago, Island Felina.

In a secret underground military facility.

*Bam!* *Shatter!!*

A person smashed his fist into the wall nearby, causing it to crack and fall apart almost instantly!

”F*ck! How dare those vile demons attack us like this!? They have killed thousands of innocent people and have made a mockery of the world alliance!”

”The world alliance’s main reason for establishment was keeping the demon race in check, but we have caused a major failure this time, and people’s belief in us will be hit hard by this setback!”

”I f*cking hate those ugly demonic creatures so much that I want to rip apart their bodies limb by limb and torture them all to death!!”

Seeing his friend rampage in anger, Riku shook his head and spoke,

”Calm down... being angry will not solve the problem; we need to make a solid plan to make sure something like this never happens again.”

At Riku’s words, another SS-ranker who had a part of his face covered in fresh burn scars replied in an angry tone.

”Sir Riku, with all due respect, I know that you mean well, but I just can’t stand the thought of those demons living a single day in peace!!”

”They have killed almost fifty thousand people of my nation, and an entire city has been completely reduced to dust!!”

”A close subordinate of mine was working in that city, and just yesterday I had talked to him!”

”We were happily talking business just yesterday!! Now he’s been turned into a f*cking basketball by a demon!!”

”The demon that attacked him broke every single bone in his body and took pleasure in every single scream as it compressed my subordinate’s 2-meter body into a basketball!!”

”Do you think I can still stay calm after seeing something like that happen to my people!?!?”

Hearing those words, Riku could only sigh.

”I know your pain; an entire island of my country has been wiped out, and the bird tribe that was a flourishing tribe just yesterday has now been driven almost extinct overnight!”

”I am just as frustrated, but I know what’s more important! We need to do rescue work first and take care of all the people that have suffered from this...”

”Once things settle down, we can assemble our armies and punish the demon race for what they have done! But that needs to wait!”

Hearing Riku’s words, some went silent, some became even more angry, and some just stared into the air with a blank look of despair as if they had lost their everything.

Seeing the despair-filled situation in the room, Ryul, the Elf King, sighed deeply and spoke in a solemn voice.

”Everyone, I am deeply concerned about what has happened, and I don’t think the time is appropriate, but I must tell you this news...”

”The entire southern coast of the Elf continent has been thoroughly corrupted by miasmic filth as it faced the direct attack of the demon army due to being in the closest proximity to the demon continent...”

”Two cities that existed there have been wiped off the face of the earth, and a major root of the world tree located in that area has been hit by miasmic corruption...”

”Syvis is working to deal with the corruption plaguing the root of the world tree, and she told me that it might take years for the world tree to recover from something like this...”

Ryul glanced at Ashtel, who was sitting on the head seat of the round table, and spoke.

”I would like to ask Riya Croft and Rio Flash for help from the human empire to help deal with the corruption and the matter of healing the world tree.”

”As a major portion of the world relies on the world tree for many things, and the world alliance relies on it a lot for locating randomly opening dungeons, it being in a damaged state is a matter of great concern...”

”I would appreciate it if the human empire would dispatch their people to help the world tree as soon as possible...”

Almost the entire world knew by now that Rio Flash from the human empire was a powerful S-ranker and was capable of controlling miasma at his whims.

The moment his name was mentioned, many SS-rankers started raising their voices too!

”That’s not fair, Sir Ryul! You are not the only person who needs help! My nation was hit hard too! I want help in purifying the lands of my nations too!”

”That’s right! Dispatching Rio Flash and Riya Croft to just the elven nation alone is unfair! They hold powers that can greatly reduce the suffering of all nations!”

”Indeed! If we work together with Rio and Riya, we can even make the demon race regret! Their powers are tailor-made to be extremely effective on the demon race!”

”We can’t just remain passive; we need to show the arrogant demon race that if they attack us, they would have to face severe consequences!”

Some argued about their nations’ needs, some argued about war, and some remained silent.

The meeting that was called to discuss how to take care of the aftermath of this disaster had now turned into a complete disaster.

Nobody wanted to listen to others, and everyone felt that their own suffering was more severe than the others’, so they were more qualified for the help of the World Alliance.

The Demon Army’s attack might not have done insane harm to the world alliance, but one thing it did good was expose the inner rifts that had started to erode the very foundation of the alliance itself.

For a thousand years, all nations lived in peace and privately waged wars against each other in secret to usurp each other’s land.

A thousand years of peace were enough to corrode the originally united world alliance and create new rifts due to dissatisfaction and disagreements among many races towards each other.

Unlike the time of the thousand-year war when they all had a common enemy and a great leader like King Allen keeping them all united, in these thousand years of peace, there were no such factors in existence.

Ashtel was strong and influential, but he was not as famous and charismatic as King Allen, who was a legend in his time.

Moreover, Ashtel only knew about fighting; he was not fit to be a heroic leader that could lead the entire world alliance to great prosperity in a united manner.

Not only did the world alliance not have a single powerful leader that could be considered a common superior to all of them, but they also didn’t have an external enemy, as demons were living in silence mostly.

Thus, the appearance of rifts and various cracks in the mutual trust between various races and their alliances was obvious.

If not for the fact that the demon race still existed on this planet and was still causing some small-scale disaster every once in a while, the world alliance would have already broken apart by now on its own!

Thankfully, Demon King Nebo Dahaka was not aiming to destroy the world; otherwise, all he had to do was just take his demons away and disappear for the past thousand years.

Once the alliance falls apart, he could just come back and destroy this divided and weakened world easily.

Moreover, this time, no King Allen would have been there to stop the demon race either!
