Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 783: Let’s go loot a candy store! Part-1.

Island Ptichka.

”To think that just yesterday... we were having a vacation here and now it’s all like this...”

Standing on the charred black soil of Island Ptichka, Riya shook her head in helplessness.

Although she had already seen the images, only after seeing it in person did she realize how badly this island was hit by the demon armies.

Not only was the entire city atop the island razed to the ground and turned into ashes, but the entire island was now covered in a dense layer of miasmic corruption, causing even the soil to be turned blackish-purple.

Tens of thousands of people were cruelly murdered in a single night, and most of them were civilians that were just enjoying a festival event with smiles on their faces.

No one in that moment could have thought that the happy festival would turn into a massive-scale disaster pretty soon.

”C-can you really purify miasmic corruption?”

Standing on Riya’s left was Miki, whose body had already been healed to full health, and on her right was Link, who was still clinging to her arm tightly like a koala that refused to let go of its favorite tree stump.

”Miasmic corruption on this island may look severe, but it’s only been a day at most since the island got covered in corruption, so it wouldn’t be that difficult to purify it...”

”If it was left corrupted for months or years, then even I wouldn’t be able to do anything, as I don’t have full mastery over my legendary power as of yet.”

”But of course, no matter how dense the miasma is and how long it’s been there, we can still deal with it, as we have Rio on our side; if I can’t do it, he will surely be able to get rid of the miasma, so don’t worry too much...”

With a light smile on her face, Riya spoke words of consolation to Miki, who was likely feeling extremely helpless and frustrated about this incident.

”You don’t need to feel guilty over this; even if we had all been here, we would have likely not been able to save Island Ptichka from being destroyed in such a fierce battle...”

”In fact, it’s a good thing that Raika teleported us all and left to deal with us... he was extremely powerful...”

”If he were allowed to remain here and keep raining destruction, Island Ptichka wouldn’t have been the only place that got destroyed...”

Miki took a deep sigh to calm the anger in her heart and nodded her head.

”It’s a good thing that his primary target was mainly Rio; if it was anyone else, I don’t think they could have survived.”

”As the champion of the supreme tournament, there’s no doubt that Rio is strong, stronger than the entire younger generation; perhaps that’s also why someone corrupted like Raika was targeting him.”

”Demons often try to destroy talented people before they can grow up even at the cost of their own lives. My father usually doesn’t let me fight demons mainly because of this reason too...”

While talking, the trio made their way to the central area of the island.

On the way to the central area of the island, the trio came across mountains of rubble and broken debris from the buildings and other structures in the cities.

Almost everything on the island was destroyed and flattened to the ground; thus, the rubble on the island was simply too difficult to clear in just a few hours.

And because the Beast nation was still in a state of grief, they had no time to clean up the island for now.

There are hundreds of dead demon corpses lying around on the broken rubble or buried beneath the mountains of debris.

The miasma density in the air was so high that Riya had to create a small healing field to cover the three of them and protect against it.

Dark, blackish-purple miasma-filled blood from demons was splattered all over the area.

”The world alliance really works quite fast... they have already rescued all the dead, and nearly all the intact human bodies have been dug out too...”

Hearing Riya’s words, Miki nodded her head.

”The SS-rankers personally came to help, so it was taken care of pretty fast...”

As the group approached the area where the famous plaza used to be, the sight they got to witness almost caused the three of them to feel heartbroken.

In the same plaza that the group was having a fun time yesterday, there were now imprints of humanoid figures painted on the ground.

”This is the work of an S-rank fire-type demon... With its power, the demon created a powerful flame shockwave that completely evaporated people, leaving only a carbonized shadow on the ground.

There was even a shadow of women trying to protect her small child; that horrific painting was something straight out of a nightmare and was a stark reminder of how insanely vile and cruel the demon race was.

To them, destroying every life form in the world with the cruellest methods possible was the ultimate source of pleasure.

Some argued that demons were only doing all this under the influence of miasmic corruption, but many believed that miasma only amplifies the inner evil that already exists in your heart.

It just brings out the true self that’s always been hidden beneath the layers of deceit built with years of effort.

”I-i.... I will never forgive the demon race, I will kill them all-”

Before Miki could complete her sentence, Link, who had been silent, suddenly interjected,

”Stop. Don’t say that, Miki.”

”If you said that sentence... you will be walking down the ’Path’ of ’Vengeance’... and believe me, the end to a Path like that is not pleasant...”

Hearing Link’s words, Riya also nodded her head.

”Yes, don’t let hate consume you, Miki; you are stronger than that. You can still punish the demons without jeopardizing your own future like this...”

”The demons have already destroyed this island; don’t let their actions destroy your future too...”

Miki felt conflicted after hearing Link and Riya’s advice, but eventually she came back to her senses and nodded her head.

”Yes... I can’t let the demons succeed by destroying my own future because of them...”

Her eyes became moist as she stared at the shadows of the dead painted on the floor.

’I am too weak. If I were stronger, I could have prevented this from happening... I need to get stronger...’
