Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 808: Portals?

While they continued on their way toward the first hill, Nathan couldnʼt help but ask, ”Sir Layfon. Thereʼs something Iʼm curious about.

”The aliens here donʼt look that much different from the ones entering the kingdom. Then again, it might be because theyʼre the same aliens that manage to slip past the defense line, but how do I say this…

”While itʼs true there are a lot more aliens, they donʼt really change their strategy when attacking us. Is it only because they are lower-level aliens? But there are mature class aliens around here…”

Layfonʼs mouth was itchy. He wanted to answer that lighthearted question, but he could only shake his head. ”Iʼm sorry. I canʼt really answer that question on this mission. However, if you still want to know the answer, I can give you as much detail as you want after this mission.”

”I see.” Nathan sighed. ”In that case, do you mind if I ask you another question?”

”I donʼt think I will be able to provide any answer you want because of the restriction.”

”No. Iʼm not going to ask anything relevant to the mission.” Nathan raised one finger. ”Iʼm just curious about the ruins scattered across the lands. There donʼt seem to be any ruins around here.”

”Ah. If thatʼs your question, I think answering it wonʼt really affect the outcome of this mission.” Layfon nodded. ”Letʼs see… How much do you know about the aliens?”

”Not much. All I know is that five hundred years ago, a portal appeared, and the aliens flooded this world. Then, the Ashura palace was destroyed, and the war continued until it reached this state.”

Layfon contemplated for a moment. ”Do you know our world map?”

Nathan raised his head, imagining the map. ʼThe shape of the map itself is similar to Australia, but it has an outward bulge on the south, which makes it similar to the African continent instead of Australia, but itʼs not as big as Africa.

ʼThe Azilia Kingdom is ruling over the west. Next to it is the Liaystian Kingdom, but it also shares a border with the Holy Kingdom on the northeast part of this kingdom, near the Ashton familyʼs territory.

ʼThen, the one ruling on the east is the Beast Kingdom. The alien territory is in the south and the Land of the Death is in the north.ʼ

After imagining the map, he nodded his head. ”Yes.”

Since Nathan imagined it in his head, Layfon continued, ”How about the map from five hundred years ago?”

”Hmm… Not really the details…” Nathan changed his imagination. The west still belonged to the resilient Azilia Kingdom. However, the rest of the world was split into several countries, but he couldnʼt recall the exact details, such as their names and the exact borders.

”Letʼs see. The world was split into five back then. The west was the Azilia Kingdom, which had stood almost a thousand years. The middle part of this world consisted of seven small kingdoms, while the east side was ruled by the empire.

”Meanwhile, the north was the barbarian land and the Land of the Death… Sorry, it should be known as Ashura Palace instead. Itʼs in the south, which is also the biggest. Basically, they alone have a third of the entire world.

”Once the aliens invaded, the Ashura Palace fought them like madmen, but unfortunately, they fell after a few years.

”During those years, the Holy Kingdom was the first one to find a way to become a summoner, which resulted in them gradually absorbing other smaller nations in exchange for the secret of becoming a summoner.

”The Azilia Kingdom quickly adapted and invited the Holy Kingdom, which was the main reason the Azilia Kingdom could survive and why the religion wasnʼt that restricted here. You should see a lot of priests, even in the military or churches, scattered across the kingdom.

”Meanwhile, the empire was slightly stubborn and fought badly against the aliens, which resulted in their decline. They gradually disappeared due to division. The Beast Kingdom was hailed to be the strongest after their division. Meanwhile, the middle area had the Liaystian Kingdom, one of the smaller kingdoms that refused to fuse with the Holy Kingdom.

”You should be aware of the history up to this point, right?”

Nathan nodded. ”Yes.”

”Then, letʼs continue to the fallen Ashura Palace. Back then, the Ashura Palace was the biggest and fiercest.

”They robbed things and caused devastation.”

Nathan rubbed his chin, thinking, ʼThey are like the Xiongnu Empire during the Han Empireʼs era.ʼ

Layfon continued, ”The aliens attacked them first, which resulted in the destruction of the Ashura Palace. Then, the aliens continued their invasion toward the rest of the world.

”As a result, we were being pushed back to… letʼs say, split the entire world into three evenly with two horizontal lines. The humans were being pushed back to the last line in the north.

”After the countless sacrifices of our ancestors, they managed to retake two-thirds of the world, but due to conflicts, disasters, famine, and other things, right now, humans only have half the world while the aliens have the other half.

”The aliens often used ruins like this as their nest. As a result, in the past, the humans destroyed any ruins so that the aliens couldnʼt use them as a nest when they got pushed back again.

”Thatʼs why you wouldnʼt really find a lot of ruins here. Instead, if you continue toward the last line on the south, which is basically the Ashura Palaceʼs former territory, you would find a lot of them, as they were practically untouched.

”Thatʼs the answer to your question as to why you couldnʼt find ruins around here. Iʼm sure that the academy has taught you to this point, right?” Layfon turned to Flora and Noelle.

”Yes. They told us in our second year.” Noelle nodded.

Layfon raised one finger. ”I bet they didnʼt tell you about one thing.”

”Hmm?” Nathan raised his eyebrows.

”The aliens invaded us, correct? According to the legend, there was a way to end this war quickly. And that was by going to the deepest part of the Ashura Palace and finding their portals and destroying them.”

”!!!”

”Portals?!”
