Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 804: Worry

”Did he say all that?” Sullivan widened his eyes in shock.

”Yes, sir. I told you his answer word by word. Itʼs a bit complex for me to understand, but Iʼve done my best to say the same word.” Sylvia nodded.

Sullivan looked down, falling into deep thought.

Layfon crossed his arms before saying, ”Isnʼt he exceptional, sir? This is the first time Iʼve seen someone so thorough for a single mission.”

Sullivan shook his head. ”Thatʼs not a problem. According to the war minister, his mindset is supposed to be different. Although he is good, he shouldnʼt have any experience regarding the front line.

”Iʼm planning to let them suffer in this mission so that they will understand how to move forward. If they manage to complete the mission even with that disadvantage, I wonʼt have to worry about them anymore. What I want to test here is their flexibility.

”However, the fact that he already knows this…” Sullivan pinched the bridge of his nose.

”Are you saying heʼs got some information from somewhere else?” Layfon frowned. ”But youʼre the only one who knows the mission, sir.”

”I know. Itʼs just… His understanding of the alien territory has changed. It must be caused by something.”

”Still, is it a problem? If he is more detailed, isnʼt he good enough? It does look like theyʼre able to see through the mission and have some ideas on how to proceed after getting the reward from you.” Layfon became confused. With such a good answer, he would have been happy.

Sullivan, on the other hand, had the exact opposite reaction. He looked troubled.

Layfon didnʼt know about it, so he just thought that Nathan could reach that point. However, the fact that Nathan was aware of the situation in the front line meant someone who had that experience told him about it.

The problem was Count Ashtonʼs condition he had hidden this whole time.

As a guardian, he obviously didnʼt want to send the children to such a dangerous place. However, after seeing this change, Sullivan felt like Nathan was already aware of the situation and would go right away.

He thought he could stall for time if he revealed this information after they succeeded. After all, they would wait until they found a solution before going there.

No matter how hard Sullivan thought about it, he couldnʼt think of a possible reason. The Dragon King didnʼt know. Vivian never made contact with Count Ashton. The Pope wasnʼt close to Selenaʼs father. Even Sage Leyfon never knew Selenaʼs father aside from him being a student at the Frexia Academy twenty-five years ago, when he was only a vice principal.

That was why it was weird.

”I have to investigate this…” Sullivan sighed. He had to ask his son or grandson to investigate this matter. Who had told him about this information?

He thought that stalling for time until they were strong enough to defeat a warrior class mutant would be a good idea, but he might not have enough time for it.

…

Meanwhile, Nathan and the others were skimming through the records. With the help of the familiars, they could speed up their progress significantly.

”The aliens in the demon territory seem to have been more ferocious because they have numbers on their side. And because there arenʼt many buildings, theyʼre more adept at crossing natural terrain, which means their speed will be quite high compared to the aliens that have entered the kingdom for quite some time.” Selena looked concerned.

”Because of their number, we can expect that there are a lot of aliens around the area. If we attack one of them, they will create a chain of noise that will alert the entire group or even a group from further away.

”It had been toned down when we still had more defense lines, but it has returned to its original state.

”In addition, theyʼre more aggressive and sensitive, so we have to be careful when advancing in the alien territory,” Selena reported. ”I have only gone through ten records from now, but thatʼs the most likely solution. I will continue with the older records.”

It was Floraʼs turn to report. ”In the front line, we have to be careful. The plant-like creatures, which are the most troublesome, seem to be abundant. Not as many as you can imagine, but a lot more compared to the aliens in the kingdom.

”However, we have to worry about aliens in other forms. While itʼs true that humanoid aliens and beast-like aliens are concerning, the number of flying aliens is immeasurable.

”We have to be careful in case theyʼre coming. If itʼs only a migration, we can hide inside a cave and wait for them to pass to conserve our stamina.

”Still, there are aliens coming from swamps, rivers, lakes, and other types of environments, so we have to be careful. Iʼm still searching for any clues that they will behave differently if there are multiple alien types in that area.”

Selena nodded in agreement. ”Yes. I need to see any clues stating their change when having a higher number.”

Once they were done, Alavenya added, ”In our current path, there seem to be two hills and a river.

”We have to be extra careful between the two hills because the aliens love to use it as a nest. Iʼm searching for other potential places they can use as a nest and any hidden path we can use.

”For the time being, Iʼm focusing on where we can set up our camp. Of course, itʼs better if we also have a place to rest along the way, like a shallow cave.”

Nathan listened to their report while staring at the map before him. He had to be careful and treat this mission as dangerous as his trip to the location where Selenaʼs father was.

It was like a trial for that trip. If he made a mistake here, there was a chance he would make another mistake on the main trip, so he wanted to erase all kinds of possibilities first.

In the end, the entire group spent the entire night reading the records. Although they could sleep, Nathan planned to use the first day to get the needed rest while still making some progress.
