Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 517: The Downside of Time

”Accel 2x,” Nathan muttered, increasing the speed of his body twice.

He closed the gap between him and the alien in an instant.

”!!!” The alien panicked. Due to the change in the brightness, his body was completely exposed.

Nothing could stop Nathan from reaching the alien. Obviously, the alien tried to attack Nathan with his tentacles first.

However, Nathan accelerated even further.

Because he accelerated his entire body, it also meant his thought process was accelerating as well. In other words, he saw the alien and predicted all those attacks.

Nathan skillfully avoided all of them and reached the alien.

With a snap of his finger, the ena was discharged, forming at three times Nathanʼs normal speed.

He didnʼt even have to use ʼSpeedʼ in order to produce them faster than Selena. He first punched the alienʼs chest with the Dragon Fist, blowing the alien away before shooting the bullets.

”Shaaa!” The alien let out a cry. Before he was launched, one of his tentacles managed to graze Nathanʼs arm.

Normally, the graze would be visible first before the blood gradually leaked out of that wound.

But because of the acceleration, the blood was already dropping from his arm. It flowed as if it was water instead of blood.

This was the downside Nathan was talking about.

”Thatʼs…” Selena gasped, not understanding what Nathan had done. ”Heʼs much faster? But itʼs not the entire explanation…”

”Thatʼs right.” Anubis nodded. He used his healing ability on Nathan, which closed the wound in an instant due to the same acceleration.

”He is using his ability to accelerate his bodyʼs time. In addition, everything will be accelerating at a speed much faster than his normal speed.

”His overall speed, his thought, the speed to release his ena… They will increase depending on the acceleration.

”However, the downside of this ability is that everything is accelerating. In other words, if he suffers a big injury like severe bleeding, it will be three times faster. Yes, you could say that he will die three times faster.

”This includes the aging process. If he carelessly uses this kind of power, he might end up looking like he is at the age of 60 even though he is only 20 years old.”

Anubis perfectly understood the benefits and the downside of this time ability. He had confirmed that everything was indeed accelerating, including the aging process.

”What? He…” Selena was stunned. She wanted to stop him. No, she had to stop him.

Anubis sighed. ”Do you think we donʼt want to stop him? We tried. Fortunately, this is just a test. It wonʼt last more than thirty minutes.

”In addition, he plans to get the time element as his main element to negate that negative effect.”

”Time element?” Selena paused for a moment. ”But there is a limit to the time element, right?”

”Of course. If he accelerates to 10 times his original speed, it will cause a lot of harm to his body. For example, his body needs to be strong enough to withstand that speed. The friction with the air can literally shred him to pieces if he is not careful.

”Besides, controlling the time of the entire world is not something one can easily do because it means changing the time that has been recognized by the world as well as its people. Changing the time of several hundred million people or even more…” Anubis nodded.

Selena never thought that Nathan was planning to get something even more powerful than an absolute zero. However, this was a high-risk and high-return element. If he wasnʼt careful, he might die.

Anubis, on the other hand, realized one more thing. That dream was the one that inspired Nathan.

Even if he couldnʼt change the worldʼs time, he could still change his own time. Sending things through time like a dream to change the future was what he meant by it being beneficial to the world.

If he couldnʼt resist the aliens, he might have to execute the plan, such as regression or something along those lines, to change the history.

Still, he didnʼt have a lot of knowledge about time. In fact, there werenʼt a lot of divine beings associated with time. Even Nathan only thought about Cronos.

However, if Nathan could master this element, he would become a terrifying summoner in the future.

Anubis gave one last warning. ”Thatʼs why itʼs best for you to kill the alien as quickly as possible so that he doesnʼt harm himself too much. In addition, please be mindful of your attack.

”As I mentioned earlier, his body is accelerating. If he bleeds, it will bleed faster. If he is going to die, he will die faster. If he ever tells you to attack him and the alien, never do it.”

Selena looked at Nathan overwhelming the mutant with his speed, but he would gradually lose that advantage once the mutantʼs skin got accustomed to the sunlight.

”…” Selena took a deep breath. ”Risa. Weʼll take down the alien. We need to be swift and precise. You have to lock the alien while I hit it. Nathan is probably going to test a lot of things, but I canʼt allow that. Use him as a distraction as you may, as long as it can shorten the battle time.”

Risa nodded. ”Still, even if he accelerates three or four times, it will just be a couple of hours, right?”

”Iʼm not worried about how much acceleration he has right now. Instead, Iʼm more worried that he is daring to use it. As people said, if you do it once, you will be more likely to use it for the second, third, or even more times.”

”Ah.” Risa realized that the problem was when Nathan used it again and again. It would definitely cause a lot of problems for Nathan, especially if his organs were suddenly failing. ”I understand.”

”Letʼs go.” Selena nodded as they both rushed forward.

Anubis couldnʼt help but glance at Jinwu. He was using his bandage to tell Jinwu to change the time of his sun so that it would radiate a different color, which prevented the alien from getting used to it. Nathan would kill the alien faster this way.

All of them agreed to make sure Nathan wasnʼt overexerting himself. Then again, no one really knew if Nathan was going to acquire the time element or not because of his bad luck.
