“Damn, I really need to properly set you up sometime,” Lin Yi said.

“So you won’t even think about it for a year.”

Wang Ying looked at Lin Yi with a playful smile, “If you can really do that, then I’ll have no choice but to…”

“To do what?”

“To welcome you with open arms.”

“You’re getting naughtier by the day.”

After the intense battle ended, the two of them chatted for a while.

Lin Yi went out to buy some glutinous rice balls for Ji Qingyan and put the thermos and wolfberries in the car before returning.

After work, the two of them went shopping. Ji Qingyan bought some facial masks for Lin Yi.

To put it nicely, men also had to take care of themselves. After buying the things, the two of them had a hotpot outside before going home.

Manjiang Pavilion was a very famous restaurant in Zhonghai. It was located by the Huangpu River and specialized in Sichuan cuisine.

Although they didn’t have a Michelin Star, if you wanted to eat at the restaurant, you had to pull some strings. Otherwise, you would have to make a booking a week in advance because there were only six tables in the entire restaurant. It was pitifully few.

There were two people sitting at the innermost side of the restaurant.

They were all in their forties. They were wearing shirts and trousers and looked refined.

One of them was Zhao Fenghua, whom Lin Yi had met during the day.

The man sitting opposite him was wearing glasses and was slightly thinner than Zhao Fenghua. He looked even gloomier and gave off a shrewd vibe.

The man’s name was Yang Tiannan. He was the person in charge of Tesla in the Terra-Pakcik region. He was in charge of all the company’s matters and had great power.

President Yang, I’ve already gotten someone to take care of Lin Yi. I don’t think he knows what’s going on yet.” Zhao Fenghua smiled.

“First, remove him from his position, check if there’s any negative information about him online, then expose him.”

Zhao Fenghua nodded. “I’ll get someone to do it later, but that woman called Yang Bing still insists on suing us. There are many negative comments online, and it’s affecting us badly.”

“It doesn’t matter. I’ll hire some bloggers and short-form video creators to suppress public opinion very quickly. Just do your own thing.”

“Got it, President Yang.”

Yang Tiannan wiped his mouth and smiled.

If you want to fight with me, you have to consider your own ability. I gave you face, but you didn’t want it. Do you really think you’re a savior for you to want to interfere in everything?!”

The next morning, Lin Yi reported to the Urban Management Office.

As soon as he entered the department, he felt that the atmosphere was not right.

“You’re Lin Yi?”

The speaker, named Cao Jian, was the head of the department. He flicked his eyelid, looking quite flippant.

“That’s me,” Lin Yi replied casually.

Cao Jian’s attitude was within his expectations. He was sent here, and in the old saying, he had been exiled.

That person called Zhang Jin had definitely sent word about him in private.

It was only natural for him to receive such treatment.

First, go for training. You’ll start working a week later,” Cao Jian said.

If you’re not up to par, you’ll be fired. If you pass the evaluation, there’s a three-month probation period, but you won’t receive any salary during this time. Consider it carefully.”

“I was sent from the precinct; do I still need training?”

Cao Jian raised his eyebrows and glanced at Lin Yi.

“Why wouldn’t you need training? Do you think you’re special?”

“Not really. I was just asking.”

Lin Yi chuckled and didn’t argue with him.

He knew the truth in his heart. He would just treat it as an experience.

Go to the small field at the back. A batch of newcomers is training there. The coach is called Lu Qun. You can tell him the details.” Cao Jian waved his hand and said impatiently.

“Okay.”

Lin Yi turned around and walked out. Cao Jian crossed his legs and glanced at him.

“Ignorant thing. You’ve secretly offended the Lord, yet you still don’t know what’s going on. How pitiful.”

Behind the office building was a public stadium.

After negotiations, it was agreed that they would be able to use the facility for a week.

There were more than twenty people standing on the field. All of them were men. They were wearing camouflage pants and military green vests. They stood upright under the sunlight.

In front of them stood a tall man.

He was about thirty-five or thirty-six years old. He had bronze skin and was dressed like the others, except that his shirt had been replaced with a vest, revealing the muscles on his arms and shoulders and making him look even more burly.

The man’s name was Lu Qun, and he was a kickboxing coach. Because he was related to Cao Jian, he was hired to work here as a part-time coach and earn some extra money.

Although he had entered through the back door, Lu Qun’s standards were indeed not bad at all.

He had once won the kickboxing championships in Zhonghai. Otherwise, even if he had connections, he wouldn’t have been able to get a job here.

“Dismissed, rest for 30 minutes!”

Lu Qun said to the person in front of him.

Everyone looked at each other. According to the normal training plan, it was not time to rest yet. Why were they resting now?

Moreover, they had a half-hour break, which felt like a special treat.

“Instructor, did something good happen? You’re giving us such a long break.”

“There’s a newcomer coming. I need to see what he’s like.”

That morning, Cao Jian had called Lu Qun, informing him that someone named

Lin Yi would be arriving to report for duty, and instructed him to use some tricks to teach him a lesson before sending him packing.

Therefore, Lu Qun had set aside some time to assess the newcomer and planned to use some tricks to promptly have him ejected.

“Newbie? We’ve been training for three days. Why is there a newbie at this time?”

“I heard that he committed a crime and was sent here. His level seems to be not bad. I have to test him out later.”

“Stop joking. I’m sure it’s all for sure. Perhaps he can deal with ordinary people, but he definitely can’t deal with someone like you.”

“Don’t say that. We’ll see what it looks like when they come over later.”

At this moment, a cry of surprise came from the crowd.

“Someone came out of the building. I think it’s the person the instructor mentioned.”

“No way. Look at him. He’s obviously a pretty boy. My arms are almost as thick

as his legs. He doesn’t look like he’s trained.”

Lu Qun glanced at Lin Yi and thought to himself that, not to mention other aspects, just in terms of physique, Lin Yi was leagues apart from him.

Just as the trainee had said, Lin Yi looked like a pretty boy, and Lu Qun thought

that this couldn’t possibly be the person Cao Jian had described.

At the same time, Lin Yi arrived in front of the team and said to Lu Qun,

“Are you Lu Qun?”

“It’s me. Why are you looking for me?”

‘My name is Lin Yi. I’m here to report.”

After knowing Lin Yi’s identity, everyone started whispering. They didn’t expect him to be the new recruit.

“You?”

Lu Qun looked at Lin Yi in disdain.

“With your physique, you definitely won’t be able to withstand our high- intensity training. Listen to my advice and withdraw yourself.”
