Soon, the two of them arrived at the crime scene.

Initially, the two of them were going to investigate the cameras.

However, they realized that there was a truck parked at the area where Song Deyuan had fallen off the cliff. There were also two small excavators rumbling as they shovelled dirt into the truck. It seemed that they had been working for a while.

There were a few people around it who seemed to be supervising the work.

Seeing this scene, the two of them hurriedly ran over. Gu Yiran shouted,

“What are you doing? Stop!”

Hearing Gu Yiran’s shout, a middle-aged man who was instructing the crew looked back at the two of them and said with a cigarette in his mouth,

“Who are you? Why are you shouting?”

Gu Yiran showed her ID.

“I’m ordering you to stop the construction!”

Seeing the ID, the middle-aged man paused for a moment. “What’s the matter?”

Lin Yi looked at the person who spoke. He was wearing a black half-sleeve and was already red from the sun.

He had tattoos on his arms and a golden necklace around his neck. He was dressed like a typical contractor.

When he saw Lin Yi and Gu Yiran, his attitude was completely different from the security guards. He was not afraid.

“Who told you to do this here!”

“The head of the park.” The middle-aged man said,

“Someone died yesterday. The leader said that it’s inauspicious. He’s preparing to change this and set off a few firecrackers to ward off evil.”

With that said, the middle-aged man said to the construction worker,

“What are you waiting for? Get to work!”

Soon the excavator rumbled again and resumed its work.

“Didn’t you hear me? 1 told you to stop!” Gu Yiran raised his voice.

“You can’t order me to do that. We listen to the boss. He told me to finish my work by nightfall. Otherwise, he won’t pay me. If this delays our working hours, you have to compensate me!”

“Let me tell you, this is a crime scene. Your actions are equivalent to the destruction of evidence. If you continue to be stubborn, we have the right to arrest you!”

“Don’t try to scare me. The leader asked me to do this. I’m just doing it for money.” The middle-aged man said.

“Don’t try to intimidate me. Let me ask you, if the leader doesn’t give me the money, will you compensate me? I’m a person who only recognizes money. It’s fine if you give me that.”

“Don’t you think you’re talking a lot of nonsense?” Lin Yi said in a low voice, “Make them stop quickly.”

“How much are you going to pay me?”

“You got a lot of balls!”

Whoosh!

Lin Yi raised his leg and kicked the middle-aged man. “You talk too much. I’ve given you enough face, haven’t I?”

Lin Yi took out the item at his waist and fired a shot into the sky.

“Stop right there!”

Everyone was dumbfounded. They had never seen something like this before.

Even Gu Yiran didn’t expect Lin Yi to do such a violent thing.

Although it was very satisfying, it did not match his status.

“You, why did you hit him?!”

The middle-aged man clutched his chest and pointed at Lin Yi, as if he was in the right.

Lin Yi walked over and squatted down. He grabbed the middle-aged man’s hair and whispered.

“With your behavior, I can tell that you were a hooligan in the past. The tricks you use are useless on me. It’s considered a light punishment that 1 only gave you a kick. If you dare to force me again, I’ll put youin jail for life.”

The middle-aged man was so frightened that he didn’t know what to say.

Soft people were afraid of hard people, and hard people were afraid of those who didn’t care about their lives.

This was a classic example of the metaphor.

“Get out of here!”

“Let’s go now.”

After being beaten up by Lin Yi, the middle-aged man became obedient. He didn’t dare to mention money again and left with his men.

“We were too late.”

When Lin Yi fought with the other party just now, Gu Yiran went to the scene to investigate.

He discovered that more than half of the area had been destroyed. Although the remaining portion was still intact, it would not be of much worth to the investigation.

Lin Yi pointed to his left, about a meter away.

“If I remember correctly, the crime scene was right there.”

Gu Yiran nodded, “Almost. I checked just now. There is nothing there anymore, so this is quite suspicious.”

Lin Yi looked around and said,

“The so-called suspicious points are just our own guesses. Although it’s likely, it’s also perfectly reasonable for the park to do this.”

Lin Yi remembered that when he was in high school, a relative who treated him well passed away.

Originally, his mother did not plan to bring him along, but because she was good to him, she let him follow.

Out of curiosity, he took a closer look at the deceased’s face, but when he got back, he got beaten up by Wang Cuiping and had to take several baths.

For the next few days, she even prepared a peach tree branch and made him keep it in his bag for a week. She said that this could ward away unclean things.

Due to this, Lin Yi understood the leaders of the scenic area very well. They valued Feng Shui more than ordinary people.

“But there’s also the possibility they were deliberately sabotaging the scene.”

“Don’t make this matter public. Just investigate it secretly.”

Then, Lin Yi looked up. “Let’s go up and take a look first. We’ll bring the surveillance equipment back.”

“Okay.”

Over the next hour, Lin Yi and Gu Yiran took away all the surveillance cameras.

Other than that, he also went to other places in the scenic area to retrieve a few more surveillance cameras. He even took away a few of the cameras from the hotel that Song Deyuan was working on.

On the way back, Gu Yiran drove. Lin Yi used this time to chat with Ji Qingyan.

Although she expressed her support, she still complained a little. She felt that Lin Yi was getting too tired from work.

Lin Yi could only smile and comfort her, trying to calm her down.

When the two of them returned to the police station, it was already past three in the afternoon.

At the same time, Gao Mingjun, who had gone out to investigate Song Deyuan’s company, returned. There was a large pile of documents on the table, and Li Xianghui and the others were flipping through them.

“You’re back.” Li Xianghui greeted.

“Anything new?”

Gu Yiran sat on the chair and combed her hair.

“More than a month ago, the entire scenic area changed their security cameras. We brought a few back from different places and plan to study them. Therefore, our previous suspicion is true. There is indeed a possibility they were intentionally misleading us.”

“Apart from that, there is another strange incident.” Gu Yiran continued,

“The place where Song Deyuan fell off the cliff is being cleared by the scenic area. It’s impossible for us to gather any further clues there.”

“That’s pretty normal,” Zhang Hui said.

“After such an unlucky incident, those in business would definitely tidy up a bit and then set off some firecrackers and the like.”

“But there’s also the possibility they are deliberately sabotaging the crime scene.”

“Do you suspect other clues might be left at the crime scene?” Li Xianghui asked..
