“I don’t think it’s a big problem.” Gu Yiran thought for a while and said.

“The leader is very concerned about this matter. Moreover, the other departments have produced a few especially powerful people this year. They could easily get first place.”

“Isn’t there still a rookie spot? Who did you send?”

“I’m not too sure about the details. It’s said that he’s a very powerful person called Gao Yan. His family is from the northeast and he even won the national mixed martial arts championship. The leader found him and wants him to act as the newcomer to participate in the martial arts competition.”

“They’ve really invested a lot. First place will surely be ours.”

“Don’t be so confident. This is a competition to test combat strength, not bravery. Therefore, there’ll also be a team competition. We only have an advantage in the individual competition, but it’s hard to say what will happen in the team competition.” Gu Yiran said.

“I saw last year’s competition, and it places high demands on a team’s operational capability. Just having strong individual skills isn’t enough, so who knows if we can take first place.”

Zhang Peng and Zhang Zixin nodded. What Gu Yiran said made sense.

“Stop playing with your phone!”

Gu Yiran said in a daze.

“You talk, and I listen. It doesn’t matter if I play with my phone.”

“I’m asking you to get ready. I might need you tomorrow. Be mentally prepared.”

“Hmm? I’m new here. What can 1 do for you?”

“Your marksmanship is good. It might still be useful in a team competition. Who knows whether 1 need you or not, but you still have to be mentally prepared.”

“Brother Li didn’t tell me about this yesterday.”

“I wasn’t sure at that time, but we thought of you today.” Gu Yiran said.

“Because one of the people we have isn’t very good. Coupled with your performance during training, we’ve decided to let you give it a try.”

“Aren’t you afraid of taking this risk?”

“You want the truth?”

“Isn’t that obvious?”

Zhang Demin glanced at Lin Yi. This young man was a little rash.

“Brother Li asked around. The other three teams are very interested in the team competition and have prepared for it for a long time. In comparison, we’re a little inferior. Unless something changes, we’ll be fourth.”

“Then, you want me to take the blame. If I lose, it’s on me. If 1 win, it’s on everyone?

“Don’t be dissatisfied. Others don’t even get to try.” Gu Yiran said.

“If you have any objections, go to Inspector Li. He recommended you. This has nothing to do with me.”

Lin Yi pursed his lips and did not say anything.

If it was arranged by Li Xianghui, he could not say anything.

After all, he treated him quite well.

Moreover, as Gu Yiran said, ordinary people did not have this opportunity.

“Haha, Brother Lin, this is your chance. If we can really use you, you have to perform well. We will definitely cheer you on!”

Gu Yiran said goodbye to Zhang Demin and left the office.

Lin Yi thought about it. How should he act tomorrow?

After all, it was quite embarrassing to lose.

The next morning, Lin Yi drove to the location of the competition according to the address provided by Gu Yiran.

The venue of the martial arts competition was set in a stadium, but the location was a little remote.

According to Gu Yiran, the competition involves not only combat events but also team cooperation projects, making this location particularly suitable for the competition.

Upon arriving, Lin Yi found that describing the place as remote was an understatement.

It was not an exaggeration to say that it was desolate.

There was an abandoned chemical factory a few hundred meters ahead. According to Gu Yiran, that was the venue of the team competition.

This was like a movie scene.

He did not know how they found this place.

Because it was a team competition, Lin Yi drove to the entrance of the factory.

Lin Yi noticed several buses parked around, and tents had been set up outside as observation points for the various groups.

There were four colors of tents: red, blue, white, and orange. The people from Xinshan Sub-bureau were all under the red tent, where Zhang Peng and Zhang Zixin were also located.

The other three teams were Yuanhe Branch, Taiping Branch, and Baoshan Branch.

“Brother Lin!”

Seeing Lin Yi, Zhang Zixin waved her hand and beckoned for him.

“The competition hasn’t started yet. What’s the hurry?”

“No, it’s because you’re set to participate!”

“You’ve really decided to use me?” Lin Yi looked at Li Xianghui. “Has this matter been decided?”

“I didn’t plan to make you join at first, but someone had an emergency and we didn’t have a suitable replacement, so 1 decided to let you give it a try.”

“I seriously suspect that you’re making me go up to take the blame.”

Glaring at Lin Yi, Li Xianghui pulled him aside.

“You don’t know what’s good for you.”

“Am I not telling the truth?”

“You know your own level. I don’t expect you to produce results at all. Besides, you’re a newcomer. Even if you fail, no one will blame you.”

“Then why do you want me to go?”

“I want you to use this opportunity to showcase yourself.” Li Xianghui said.

“If you catch their eye in this team competition, the leaders will remember you. It’ll be beneficial to your future development.”

Lin Yi smacked his lips. “In that case, I really misunderstood.”

“That’s why you have to be more serious. Besides, you’re a smart person and can react quickly on the spot. You might get a chance to show off later.”

“Got it.”

Li Xianghui looked around and whispered,

“Let me tell you, the leader doesn’t have much hope for this competition. He just doesn’t say it out loud. So, if there’s an opportunity, think of a way to show off. Do you understand what 1 mean?”

Li Xianghui valued Lin Yi very much and was prepared to keep him by his side in the future, so he took extra care of him.

“Got it.”

Lin Yi was a little touched.

After all, this man was really thinking for him.

After the two of them finished whispering, Li Xianghui brought Lin Yi to Liu Guangxian.

“Leader, I’ve told him all the details. He should be in good spirits.”

Liu Guangxian nodded and said in satisfaction,

“Little Lin, this is the opportunity that Little Li gave you. He said that your marksmanship is exceptionally accurate. Don’t disappoint me. I’ve bet everything on you.”

“No problem. Don’t worry, Leader.”

“Little Li, bring him along to familiarize himself with the other team members. The competition is coming up soon. Let them get to know each other first.”

“Got it, Leader.”

Under Li Xianghui’s lead, the two of them arrived at the bus.

There were four people inside. Their average age was around thirty years old, not much older than Lin Yi. They were discussing countermeasures in the car, and the atmosphere was abnormally tense.

“When I think of a newbie coming in, I don’t even have the mood to discuss the battle plan. It was originally a 5V5 match, but now, a rookie has turned it into a 4V5-.”
