“It’s fine. Keep up the good work tonight. You might get something in return.”

“Stop, stop, stop. Brother Lin, stop scamming me. Let me live for a few more years.”

“Damn it, I gave you a chance, but you couldn’t even seize it.”

“I’m a mortal after all. I really can’t carry a player of this level.”

“Alright, stop dawdling. Pack up, get up, and get ready.”

The two of them went to the bathroom to wash up and then went to the canteen to eat.

“F*ck, he actually went to Instructor Gu’s side to eat. How could he have the cheek to do that?” Zhang Peng said.

Although everyone wanted to get close to the instructor, no one was shameful enough to do such a thing.

But Zhou Xinghai did it.

“Actually, there’s nothing much to say about this kind of thing. Coincidentally, such people are quite popular in the workplace.”

“That’s right. Everyone likes bootlickers.”

“Let’s just ignore him. Let’s go eat first.”

The breakfast in the canteen was sumptuous, but it was still lighter than lunch and dinner. This was in line with the Huaxian diet.

They wouldn’t be able to digest anything too greasy in the morning.

Halfway through the meal, Li Xianghui walked up to Lin Yi. “Gather at 7:30 and take them for a stretch. Then, we’ll officially start training at 8:00.”

“Got it.”

Li Xianghui nodded. Then, he took his plate and went to get some food. He was yawning non-stop. It was obvious that he had not slept well.

After dinner, everyone arrived at the field one after another.

As the team leader, Lin Yi also shouldered the responsibility and organized everyone to undergo simple stretching.

His role was a little like that of the sports committee in school. He helped the teachers do some chores, but he did not have any substantial authority.

At eight o’clock in the morning, everyone stood in formation. Li Xianghui and Gu Yiran walked over from afar with a stopwatch in their hands.

“Today’s morning physical fitness test will be conducted according to military standards. Completing a 5-kilometer run in 23 minutes meets the standard, 20 minutes is considered good, and 19 minutes is excellent. These results will be recorded in your assessment scores. You have 10 minutes to warm up before the test begins.”

“Five kilometers in 23 minutes!”

Everyone complained. They felt that this was a task that could not be completed.

If they were from the army, such a standard was nothing. Most of them could complete it.

However, most of them had graduated from the police academy. Although they had received some basic training, they were only slightly fitter than ordinary university students.

It was obviously a little overboard to ask them to meet such a standard.

Only those who were especially good at running could barely reach the standard, while the rest could not.

For example, it was already very impressive if they were able to run it in less than 25 minutes.

In fact, it was already not easy to complete it in 30 minutes.

Now, they would only have 23 minutes. Wasn’t this heaven-defying?

“Instructor, can you be a little more lenient? This request is a little difficult for us,” Zhang Zixin said.

“Even if it’s difficult, you have to persevere. Don’t forget your identities. After wearing this uniform, you’re no longer ordinary citizens. You have to hold yourselves to the high standards!”

“But 1 don’t think anyone here can finish it.”

At this moment, Zhou Xinghai did not say anything.

This was because when he was in university, he had done a test. His best result was 24 minutes.

Now, it had been almost half a year since graduation. He did not exercise in between. Forget running it in 24 minutes, it was already not bad if he could finish in 25 minutes.

“Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean others can’t.”

Gu Yiran looked at Lin Yi, “As their team leader, you have the responsibility to set an example for these people, don’t you think so?”

“I’m just helping to organize them. What does this have to do with me?”

“Since you know your identity, you have to set an example. If you can’t do this, won’t you feel very embarrassed?”

Lin Yi felt that this tigress was still challenging him.

They all had the same two eyes and mouth. Why did he have to be more impressive than the rest?

“If you can’t, stand aside. I’ll get someone else to come out.”

“It’s not a big problem.”

Gu Yiran snorted, “Are you sure you can do it in 23 minutes?”

“Don’t talk about me. What’s your best score?”

“20 minutes and 32 seconds.” Gu Yiran said confidently.

“Oh my god, this is too amazing,” Zhang Zixin said enviously. “We’re both girls, but why is Instructor Gu so outstanding? 1 exhaust myself but still can’t match this timing.”

“There’s nothing to be surprised about. Your situations are different,” Lin Yi said.

“When you run, the constant bouncing will definitely affect your speed. However, she doesn’t have such worries. Her results will definitely be better than yours.”

“Bouncing…”

Zhang Zixin glanced at Gu Yiran.

This seemed to make sense.

“Be serious!” Gu Yiran snorted.

“My results have been shared. 1 hope you can perform well and not be worse than a woman like me.”

“You didn’t even do it in 19 minutes. Where did you get your sense of superiority from?”

“Heli…”

Gu Yiran glanced at Lin Yi, “The world record for five kilometers for women is 14 minutes and 11 seconds, and for men, it’s 12 minutes and 37 seconds. Do you think I’m bad for running it in 20 minutes and 32 seconds?”

“It’s indeed quite ordinary.”

“Phew…”

Zhou Xinghai hissed, “Lin Yi, can you have some self-awareness? Instructor Gu’s results are already very outstanding. As a boy, you would have run it in around 18 points to be on par with her results. Do you think you can do it?”

“Pretty much.”

“Then I’d like to know, what’s your best score for the 5k?”

“I haven’t run five kilometers before. Still, I’m a capable guy. It shouldn’t be a problem for me to surpass her.”

“Brother Lin is awesome!” Zhang Peng whispered.

“Didn’t you say you’re better than me? Run now. If you can finish within 18 minutes, I’ll admit that you’re better than me.” Gu Yiran said.

“If 1 really run now, can 1 skip morning practice?”

“Sure.”

Gu Yiran agreed without hesitation, “But if you lose, everyone will practice for an extra two hours today.”

“No, no, no.”

Zhou Xinghai stepped out and stood beside Gu Yiran.

“Instructor Gu, I’m not with him. Please don’t count me alongside him. We can’t be punished for his failure.”

“Me too. I’m not familiar with him, so 1 won’t get involved,” Ding Peng said.

Seeing the two of them stepping out, Gu Yiran crossed her arms and looked at the others.

“Do any of you want to join him? If he loses, you’ll have to train for two more hours. It’s not much. If you feel that you’re full of energy, you can give it a try.”

“We won’t bother. An average athlete can achieve such times, but I don’t believe he can finish within 18 minutes.”

“He had never run five kilometers before. He probably misunderstood this distance. In the end, he didn’t even know how he died.”

More than 20 boys stood on Gu Yiran’s side, leaving only Zhang Peng and a few girls on Lin Yi’s side.

“Instructor Gu, that’s not right, is it? Why are you threatening them?”
