Tian Yan poured a glass of water for Lin Yi and said faintly,

“Before the New Year, didn’t we have a meeting to discuss setting up a few laboratories? Now, we’re running out of space, and the company is planning to allocate a piece of land to build a high-salary industrial park.”

“Wait.”

“Is there a need to go through so much trouble? Is there really a need to allocate land for this?”

“This is Director Qi’s idea, and it was also decided during our meeting,” Tian Yan said.

“By establishing this, we’re essentially expanding our industrial scale. Although those in the know understand that it’s not very meaningful, it looks different to the general public. There’s a significant perceptual difference, and it will greatly enhance the company’s reputation among the people.”

Tian Yan combed her hair and continued,

“What’s more, doing this can be considered a political achievement for the city leaders. Although it will cost more money, it’s still worth it in terms of long-term benefits.”

Hearing Tian Yan’s explanation, Lin Yi understood what was going on. He had indeed thought too little about this matter.

“Okay, go on.”

“Before Director Qi left, he took a fancy to a piece of land and even met with the relevant leaders in advance. They said that it wasn’t a big problem and that they would cooperate fully, but something happened recently and are now competing with us for this.”

“This is interesting.” Lin Yi took a sip of water and smiled.

“Who wants to fight with us for land? Is it someone from another province?”

Tian Yan nodded. “Huanghai Group from Shianggang.”

“F*ck, why is it them again?”

“Why the big reaction?” Tian Yan asked suspiciously, “Do you know them?”

“This company fought with Chaoyang Group for land before this. After 1 taught them a lesson, they’re now fighting with us.”

Lin Yi believed that the people from Huanghai Group knew about his background.

He also believed that the other party would carry out a thorough inspection before committing to a project.

Because of these reasons, their actions showed that they dared to openly compete with him. They were really poking the bear..

“It’s possible that they’re going against us.” Tian Yan said.

“But Huanghai Group is a big company. Its president is Li Dongxin. He used to be the richest man in Huaxia and is our strong competitor.”

“You guys stick to the original plan. 1’11 settle this.”

Just as Lin Yi had thought, Huanghai Group had indeed investigated him.

However, their research was limited to Lingyun Group’s influence in Zhonghai.

They did not find any in-depth information about him.

The Li Family didn’t know about Lin Yi and Liang Ruoxu’s relationship, the Liang Family’s influence in Yanjing, nor his relationship with Lu Beichen.

Otherwise, they would have to think twice before doing these things.

Lin Yi took out his phone and called Ma San.

As soon as the call connected, he heard Ma San’s sinister laughter, as if he knew that Lin Yi was going to call him.

“President Lin, long time no see. May I know why you are calling me?”

“I think you people from Shianggang are quite interesting. I took one of your hands and you still dare to taunt me. Doesn’t your hand hurt?”

“Unfortunately, this is your fault,” Ma San said.

“Zhonghai is so big. Are you the only one who can do business here? Can’t others do the same? Aren’t you being too domineering?”

“Looks like I have to talk to you when 1 have time. I’ll need to teach you a lesson,” Lin Yi said with a smile.

“Come on. I’d love to talk to you, too, but before that, you need to find me.”

Ma San didn’t give Lin Yi a chance to speak and hung up.

After hanging up, Lin Yi got up.

“Old Qi isn’t around. Take care of the company for now. Call me if there’s anything you can’t handle.”

“Got it.”

“Where’s He Yuanyuan?”

“I think she went shopping.”

“F*ck”

After getting down to business, Lin Yi instructed Tian Yan to gather the other executives for an internal meeting.

During this period, Qi Xianzhao was not around. Thus, Lin Yi prepared to deal with all the accumulated matters.

The meeting only ended at six o’clock in the evening, and then he went over to pick Ji Qingyan up from work.

That night, the two of them didn’t go home to eat. They went to eat hotpot together to celebrate Lin Yi’s return.

After returning home, Ji Qingyan did not go to the study. Instead, she sat on the sofa with Lin Yi and watched television.

Ji Qingyan was resting on his lap, and Lin Yi occasionally fed her some fruit, acting like a diligent caretaker.

During a quiet moment, Lin Yi placed his hand on Ji Qingyan’s stomach, which she did not resist. He stroked back and forth for quite some time.

“Having touched for so long, have you felt anything?” Ji Qingyan asked with a chuckle.

“The flesh feels plump and firm, and seems about the right weight. Our little pet pig is ready to be turned into a meal.”

“I bet the meat would be delicious, probably good enough to grant eternal youth.”

“I realized that you’re getting more and more shameless. You can even say such things.”

“Hehe, there are no outsiders anyway.”

Following her usual routine, Ji Qingyan headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

Lin Yi took out his phone and sent Li Chuhan a WeChat message. He checked the time of Ma Jialiang’s surgery with her and then called Miao Guofeng.

They chatted for more than 20 minutes before hanging up.

After arranging everything, Lin Yi rubbed his chin and muttered to himself,

“Zhonghai is my territory. Aren’t you happy enough to have survived? Why do you have to show off?”

The next morning, as usual, after breakfast, Lin Yi sent Ji Qingyan to Chaoyang Group.

Then, he went to Huashan Hospital and found the director of the Orthopedics Department, Sun Xiaogang.

“Director Lin, why are you here?”

In the office, Sun Xiaogang stood up to welcome Lin Yi.

“There’s something I want to tell you,” Lin Yi said.

“At ten o’clock, is there a patient called Ma Jialiang who is scheduled for surgery?”

“Yes, there’s still more than half an hour until then. The preoperative examination is done. It’ll start soon.”

Sun Xiaogang smiled and said, “Director Lin, is that Ma Jialiang your relative? You could have just told me. There was no need to come personally.”

“Don’t make this public. I’m going to do the surgery.”

“You’re going to do it?”

Sun Xiaogang was a little surprised. “It’s not a big surgery, but you’re from the cardiology department. Are you sure you’ll be okay performing an orthopedic surgery?”

“Of course, such a small matter won’t stump me.” Lin Yi walked over, patted Sun Xiaogang’s shoulder, and handed him two packets of Zhonghuo cigarettes.

“Don’t worry about this. i’ll handle the entire surgery. I don’t need anyone’s help. You just have to instruct someone to send him to the operating table. I’ll handle the rest alone.”

“But this is against the rules. I’m just a director, and us swapping positions privately is definitely not allowed.”

“It’s fine. I’ve already informed the head. Don’t worry, you won’t be implicated.”

Sun Xiaogang heaved a sigh of relief.

“I’m relieved hearing you say that. I’ll do as you say..”
