By the time the battle ended, it was already past two in the afternoon.

“Do you have anything else later?” Li Chuhan asked.

“I have to go back and continue training, or I’ll really be dismissed.”

Li Chuhan got out of bed and helped Lin Yi find his clothes.

“You must be hungry. Let’s go downstairs and eat something.”

“I won’t eat. I’m afraid I’ll fall asleep while eating.”

Lin Yi slapped his forehead.

“I forgot about your night shift yesterday.”

“It’s okay. I can still hold on.”

“If you say that, I’ll have to work even harder next time.”

!!..

“You have to take care of your health too. Health is not unlimited. You can’t mess around.”

“Got it.”

Lin Yi smiled and kissed Li Chuhan on the forehead.

“By the way, regarding Ma Jialiang from Orthopedics Department Room 602, you have to help me keep an eye on him. If there’s any movement, let me know immediately.”

“Okay, got it.”

“I’ll get going first.”

“Be careful on the road.”

After leaving Li Chuhan’s house, Lin Yi took a taxi back to the base.

In the training base, gunshots were heard. More than 40 students were undergoing the final firearms training.

Although the training only lasted one day, to most people, it was just an intensive training session.

This was because more than 30 people had graduated from the police academy. They had done this kind of training when they were in school. However, at that time, they had only fired blanks. There was no danger, unlike now, when they were using live ammunition.

“Where did this kid go? He didn’t even pick up the phone.”

Li Xianghui frowned, his eyes filled with anxiety.

“I have already called him and he said that he would come back. If he can’t make it to the final training and assessment, it’s his fault. He can’t blame me.” Gu Yiran said.

Li Xianghui rambled on without saying anything.

In reality, this kind of thing wasn’t a big deal. With one word from their chief, Lin Yi could be stationed anywhere.

However, the problem was that the final firearm training took up a large portion of the assessment.

If he did not take the exam, his final results would not be ideal.

Even if one performed well before this, if their overall score was at the bottom of the class, they would be the last to be assigned work.

Forcibly keeping them in the sub-bureau would definitely arouse complaints from others, which would be a difficult situation to handle.

“Teacher Wu is here.”

Just as Li Xianghui was thinking about these things, a man with gray hair walked towards the two of them.

The man’s name was Wu Dahn. He was an instructor who specialized in firearm instruction.

He was in his fifties, with a temper like a gun, quick to ignite and indiscriminate between men and women.

Just after one day of training, all forty-plus trainees were scolded by him.

“Master, how are they?” Li Xianghui asked with a smile.

Back then, when Li Xianghui came here, he was taught by Wu Dalin. Despite it being so many years later, he continued to call him this honorific.

“Let’s not talk about it. Each person is worse than the other. After practicing for a day, the best one only hit 86 points. I’m too embarrassed to say that I taught these people.”

The two of them pursed their lips. Neither of them dared to say anything.

For them, a score of 86 points was not considered poor. Given the different nature of their work, it did not demand such high shooting skills.

Moreover, considering the public security situation in Huaxia, opportunities to draw a gun were very rare. Even if they were later assigned to the criminal investigation team, they would have more chances to practice.

Therefore, a score of 86 points was still acceptable.

“Calm down. You’re already so old. Don’t get sick from anger.”

“It doesn’t matter anymore. If that temper could change, he wouldn’t have gone grey in his fifties.”

“The main thing is you, you can’t apply your own standards to them. They are just a group of rookies straight out of school, while you’ve served in the special forces and are a renowned sharpshooter. Who can compare to you? If anyone really had such skills, they wouldn’t be here with us now.”

“Don’t flatter me. Even if I lower my standards, their performance still wouldn’t be up to par. They didn’t even score 90, so by my standards, they don’t deserve to carry a gun.”

“Yes, yes, yes. You’re right.”

Knowing that Wu Dalin had a bad temper, Li Xianghui kept trying to appease him. “I’ll make two side dishes tonight. Let’s have a good drink.”

“That works, get some baijiu, that stuff is strong.”

“No problem.”

Wu Dalin glanced at his watch. “In about ten minutes, it’ll be over. Let them practice on their own for a while. You guys keep an eye on the assessment, I won’t follow anymore. I’m leaving.

“Master, wait a moment.”

“What’s wrong? Is there anything else?”

“There’s still one student who hasn’t arrived yet. Can you wait a little longer?”

“There are still people who haven’t arrived? Isn’t this a closed-door training? Where did they go?”

“He had something to do at home and took leave. He said he’d be back later.

Can you wait for a while?”

“Since you’ve spoken, what else can I say? Let’s wait a little longer.”

Although Wu Dalin had a bad temper, he was also a reasonable person.

If it wasn’t an emergency, the bureau wouldn’t just give him leave either.

In addition, Li Xianghui was someone he had brought up. Their relationship had been good all these years. Since he had pleaded for leniency, Wu Dalin naturally had to give him some face.

“Thank you, Master.”

“But it’s useless for you to thank me. Even if he comes, he won’t have time to train. These children in front of us have already trained for a day. This guy will definitely be at a disadvantage compared to them.” Wu Dalin said.

“Unless he performed exceptionally well in the police academy, standing out significantly from others, with a bit of practice, his results shouldn’t be too embarrassing.”

“That will depend on his luck.”

“Looking at your expression, something seems off. Could it be that he didn’t graduate from a police academy? Is he a big white man?”

Big white man was a discriminatory term of the industry.

It referred to an ordinary person without any experience – a complete novice.

“He’s just a big white man. I don’t think he’s ever touched a gun before,” Li Xianghui said with a smile.

“What a waste. Tell him not to bother practicing. It’s a waste of time.”

Wu Dalin pointed to a few girls who were trying out from civilian life.

“You’ve seen their situation. They almost cry when firing a gun. If I weren’t older and more tempered, I’d definitely have driven them out.”

“There’s still a difference between girls and boys; boys should at least be better than the girls.”

“Don’t say that. Among novices, there are also boys,” Li Xianghui said.

“Stop, stop, stop, don’t even mention that boy. He’ll be even worse than those girls,” Wu Dalin said.

“If you ask me, don’t waste my time. Even if he comes, his results will be at the bottom. It’s useless to train him. I’ll be leaving.”

“No, no, no. Master, wait a little longer. Give him a chance.”

“I can give him a chance, but it’s already so late. Why isn’t he back yet? Does he have any sense of time?”

Li Xianghui looked troubled because his master was telling the truth.

At this moment, the door of the shooting range was pushed open. Gu Yiran said,

“He’s here..”
