“It was actually an act!”

Both of their expressions collapsed as they completely understood what was going on.

This was an out-and-out conspiracy!

A plot to get them killed!

“Lin Yi, how could you do such a thing? You’ll die a horrible death!” Zhao Jianwei gritted his teeth.

!!
“Over the years, there have been at least eight hundred people who cursed me. However, I’m still alive and well, aren’t I?” Lin Yi sighed.

“What a pity. I’ve only been here for a week and I’m already saying goodbye to you guys. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I really can’t bear to part with you.”

“You!”

“Alright, cut the crap. Come with us!”

With that, the head police officer looked at Lin Yi politely and said,

“Mr. Lin, thank you for your cooperation.”

“There’s no need to be so polite. This is what I ought to do,” Lin Yi said.

“Hey, shouldn’t you deal with Liu Yongsheng and Fan Shufang too?”

“Yes, we’ll go over now.”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go together.”

“Okay, okay, okay. We’ll go over now!”

…

Inpatient Department Eight, cardiology department.

Because there was a surgery taking place in the afternoon, Li Chuhan and Qiao Xin were both busy the entire morning. Even the time for their toilet breaks had to be cut short.

“Where did Brother Lin go? Why did he disappear so suddenly?” Qiao Xin asked.

Because Lin Yi was supposed to be the assistant surgeon for the surgery in the afternoon, if he didn’t come back soon, they would have to change doctors at the last minute.

“Haha, Director Li, don’t wait for Lin Yi. It’s very likely that he won’t come back,” Liu Yongsheng said with a smile at the other desk, looking like he was gloating.

“Why can’t he come back? What do you mean?”

“Looks like you’ve been kept in the dark, Director Li. Then I have to tell you what happened.”

Sensing that something was amiss, Qiao Xin pricked her ears, wanting to know what had happened.

“Do you remember yesterday afternoon, at around five o’clock, Lin Yi applied for leave from you and left early?”

“I remember.”

“Actually, he went to see the boss of Tianze Pharmacy last night. As for what happened, he probably won’t reveal too much. I reckon that he should have been arrested by now. You should quickly replace him for the surgery in the afternoon. Otherwise, the whole thing will be delayed.”

“That’s impossible.”

Li Chuhan was still writing the medical records, and the pen in her hand did not stop.

“Lin Yi doesn’t lack that bit of money. Your argument doesn’t make sense.”

Li Chuhan knew Lin Yi’s situation very well. Zhonghai International Racetrack was his, and he had a hypercar worth more than 60 million yuan.

People like him came to work in the hospital to satisfy their curiosity.

The commission from the pharmacy was not even enough for him to wipe his *ss.

“Director Li, I know you have a good relationship with Lin Yi, but it’s the truth. Otherwise, there’s no reason why he would not come back after so long. He must have been taken away.”

Qiao Xin was so anxious that she couldn’t sit still. For a moment, she didn’t know who to listen to.

She was not even in the mood to eat the bananas on the table.

“Go on with your work. Don’t listen to them.”

Although she did not know what had happened, Li Chuhan didn’t believe that Lin Yi would pursue that tiny bit of commission.

It was almost laughable.

“Got it, Director Li,” Qiao Xin said. “I also believe that Brother Lin wouldn’t do that.”

“Little Qiao, you’re good at everything, but you’re too innocent.” Zhou Ziqiang said.

“Don’t be fooled by Lin Yi’s actions. Who knows what he’s doing in the dark? You don’t have to wait for him for the surgery in the afternoon. He definitely won’t come back. You might even be implicated by him when he is forced to make a statement.”

“Brother Lin!”

Just as Qiao Xin was feeling down, she was surprised to see Lin Yi walk in.

“Why are you so excited? You’re acting like you just saw a ghost.”

“Lin… Lin Yi, why are you back?”

“What are you talking about? Isn’t this the cardiovascular department? If I don’t come here, where else should I go?”

“Shouldn’t you—”

Just as Liu Yongsheng was at a loss for words, he saw Zhao Jianwei, Cao Jiawang, and a few police officers walking in.

Seeing the police following the two of them, Liu Yongsheng smiled.

“Look, what did I say? The police are here. They must be here to arrest Lin Yi.”

The leading policeman glanced at Liu Yongsheng and Fan Zhufang and said,

“You two must be Liu Yongsheng and Fan Shufang.”

“We are.”

“That’s good.” The leading police officer looked at his colleagues behind him. “Take these two people away.”

“Huh?”

The two of them were stunned. “Officer, we didn’t do anything wrong. Why are you arresting us?”

“Why do you think we’re arresting you?”

“What! President Zhao and Director Cao have been arrested!”

The two of them avoided eye contact and were too ashamed to look at the others in the department.

“That’s right. The two of them have already been arrested. Don’t pretend to be innocent. You know what you’ve done. Come with us.”

The entire department was in an uproar.

A vice president, a department director, and two deputy directors had actually been arrested!

Wasn’t this news a little too explosive?

Didn’t this mean that Director Li was the only one left in the entire cardiology department?

“Officer, there’s another one over there. His name is Zhou Ziqiang, Cao Jiawang’s nephew,” Lin Yi introduced.

“Nephew.” The leading male police officer carefully observed Zhou Ziqiang.

Mr. Lin was implying something!

“Let’s bring him back for investigation.”

Zhou Ziqiang was dumbfounded. This matter had nothing to do with him. Why were they arresting him?!

“Officer, don’t listen to his nonsense. We have nothing to do with each other. I’m not his nephew, and he’s not my uncle. You have to be observant and not listen to his nonsense!”

“I don’t know if it’s nonsense, but you have to know that lying to a public official and withholding information is an additional offense.”

Thump—

Zhou Ziqiang slumped to the ground with lifeless eyes. Even if he had done nothing wrong in this regard, it would be impossible for him to return to Huashan Hospital after he was taken away.

Under the gazes of the physicians and nurses, Zhao Jianwei and the Cao family were brought away.

Some of them might not be held criminally responsible, but with such a criminal record, it would be impossible for them to return to being doctors in the future.

Everyone vaguely guessed that there might be a new move from the higher-ups. Otherwise, things would not have turned out like this.

“Director Miao asked me to go over. The two of you can go back to the department and organize the materials for the surgery in the afternoon.”

“No problem,” Lin Yi said, “Xinxin, let’s go. I’ll feed you some bananas.”

“Uh-uh.”

“Doctor Lin, we want to eat bananas too. You can feed us too,” the young nurse teased.

Lin Yi had some impression of her. Her name was Yuan Siqi.

“If you want to eat bananas, you have to bring them yourself.”

“Do we still need to bring it ourselves? Doctor Lin has one, right?”
