Chapter 418: The Opportunity Zhao Wen Thought She Had

Zhao Wen took the proprietary Huaxian medicine and experimental report that Lin Yi had developed and returned to the hotel in a daze.

Everything that had happened today was like a nightmare to her.

This was the biggest Waterloo she had ever encountered in her career.

She had never thought that she would be defeated in such a way at the hands of this scoundrel.

“President Zhao, we have to report this to the headquarters. Otherwise, things might go wrong.”

!!
Standing beside Zhao Wen, Meng Haiqing said.

“I know.”

After calming down for a while, Zhao Wen called Luo Yi through facetime.

At this time, it was already midnight in the United States, but Luo Yi had not yet gone to bed.

“The deal must be done. When are you coming back from Huaxia? I’m going to throw you a party to celebrate this matter.”

“President, I’m sorry. There was an accident,” Zhao Wen said apologetically.

“How is that possible?!” Luo Yi’s face was filled with disbelief,

“We’ve done everything so perfectly. There can’t be any problems.”

“The thing is, Huaxia has developed a drug that has a similar effect to ibuprofen. I have the finished product and the experimental report here. In other words, our drug has been completely replaced.”

“Is there actually such a thing?!”

Bang!

Because of his panic, Luo Yi’s phone fell to the ground. “This is impossible. How could they develop a drug like ibuprofen in such a short period of time? That is impossible!”

“I don’t think that he would lie about this because it would be too easy to for him to be exposed. There would be no point in lying,” Zhao Wen voiced out her thoughts.

“Moreover, their attitude was very firm. They won’t accept a price of 289.”

“If that’s the case, then we have to take this matter seriously.” Luo Yi placed his hands on the table. This was his usual posture when he was thinking.

“These Huaxian people are too cunning. It seems like we have to give them some pressure from the international stage.”

Zhao Wen shook her head. “This won’t work either.”

“Why?”

“The proprietary Huaxian medicine they developed wasn’t prepared a long time ago. Instead, it was developed during these three days between negotiations. As for the 25 premium imported drugs from the six major pharmaceutical companies, Huaxia doesn’t seem to plan to import any more. They’re preparing to develop it on their own.”

Zhao Wen looked at Luo Yi and said,

“Because of this, we don’t have much time left. Once they develop those 25 imported medicines, it will be an important blow to the interests of all the major companies!”

“This is simply unbelievable.” Luo Yi’s expression was so twisted to the point that he was going crazy, “Every medicine of ours, from research and development to clinical practice, takes at least two to three years to reach the market. How could they make it in three days?!”

“Because in the process of developing Western medicine, we tend to use trial and error to navigate every phase. Our Western medicine has a very rigid theoretical framework, which takes a lot of time to comply with,” Zhao Wen said.

“Moreover, Huaxian medicine has almost no side effects. Even if the drug doesn’t work, its user won’t experience any bad clinical reactions. This is a huge advantage.”

“I know a little about Huaxian medicine, but I still don’t believe that they can develop these medicines in such a short period of time,” Luo Yi said.

“To be honest, I don’t believe it either,” Zhao Wen said. “But I think we should prepare a counter-strategy.”

“What strategy are you referring to?”

“Right now, aren’t the top three hospitals in Huaxia placing a lot of orders at the increased prices? Instead of shipping, we should directly transport them by air and send them to Huaxia as soon as possible. That way, we can pocket the money immediately. I’m afraid that during this time, other unforeseen incidents will occur, which will make things even worse for us.”

“Got it. Air transportation will save us a lot of time. I’ll call them right now and arrange this.”

“Okay.”

After she finished video calling with Luo Yi, Zhao Wen put down her phone tiredly. She covered her chest with one hand and found it difficult to breathe.

“President Zhao, are you okay? Should I send you to the hospital?”

“No need. It’s an old problem.”

Back when she first graduated from university, Zhao Wen worked harder than anyone else in order to gain a firm foothold in the company.

Because of her irregular schedule, her heart started acting up slowly. It wasn’t serious at all, and after years of recuperation, she became much better.

However, today’s incident gave her a miniature heart attack.

Meng Haiqing didn’t say anything and turned his attention back to the matter at hand.

“Director Zhao, what else can we do now? The current situation isn’t good for us. We’re too passive and they’re leading us by the nose.”

“The situation isn’t too bad. I don’t think Liang Ruoxu and that Lin Yi person would have expected so many Grade A hospitals to place so many orders for the six major pharmaceutical factories. Some of the raw materials and individual medicines are manufactured by ourselves, so we’ll be able to earn quite a bit from the price increase this time.”

“I understand.” Meng Haiqing nodded thoughtfully,

“Although this matter has had quite a big impact on us, these orders can be considered as giving us a chance to catch our breath. Our profit will not be affected. Due to this, we can free up some time to deal with this matter comprehensively.”

“Hmph, this is Liang Ruoxu’s mistake. I guess she wouldn’t have thought that we would be able to claw back from this.” Zhao Wen said.

“Although we got embarrassed, the money still ended up going into our pockets. It won’t have much of an impact on us in the long run.”

…

Dongheng Pharmaceutical, President’s office.

“F*ck!”

Fan Donghui threw the document in his hand onto the floor, scaring the secretary at the side. He didn’t even dare to breathe loudly.

“Dad, even if you’re angry, throwing things won’t solve the problem.” Fan Qinan sat on the sofa. He placed his foot on the table and supported his head with one hand.

“Judging from today’s situation, it’ll be very difficult for Pfizer’s medicine to enter the Huaxian market again, unless they agree to sell 9.99 yuan.”

“If it is really sold for 9.99 yuan, there’s no point in us acting as Pfizer’s agent,”Fan Donghui said.

“It was originally a done deal, but that kid Lin Yi ruined it. Damn it, get someone to check his background!”

“No need, I know his situation,” Fan Qinan said. “You don’t have to worry about it, let me handle it.”

“Do you still know him?” Fan Donghui looked surprised.

“His background isn’t negligible. He’s Qin Han’s brother. It won’t be easy to touch him.”

“If that’s the case, this isn’t going to be easy. We’ll just have to suffer this loss.”

“That might not be the case,” Fan Qinan said.

“About a month ago, Wang Mazi’s lieutenant, Zhang Ao, had an altercation with Lin Yi at the nightclub. Lin Yi stabbed Zhang Ao in the face, which was a slap to Wang Mazi’s face.”

“Really?” Fan Donghui was surprised. “I know Mazi’s character. Zhang Ao is his right-hand man, so he won’t let this go.”

“That’s true, but at that time, Wang Mazi and the Zhao family were going to invest in a piece of land in the suburbs. He was afraid that this incident would cause problems and harm the bidding process, so he decided to suppress the matter.”

“Then what happened? The bidding for that piece of land should be over now, right?”

“It’s indeed over, but the Zhao family and Wang Mazididn’t win the bid as it was snatched away by Lin Yi.”

“He was even involved in this?”

“It’s true,” Fan Qinan said:

“Now that Wang Mazi has nothing else on his plate, he should be busy dealing with Lin Yi. We don’t have to do anything, we just have to wait for Wang Mazi to act.”
