Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

98: Chapter 98 Harvesting Wall Street AgainThe panting in the room gradually subsided, soft light spilling over Liu Yifei’s fair skin.

Liu Yifei lay nestled in Chen Mo’s arms, a lingering flush still coloring her cheeks. Her fingertips lightly traced patterns on Chen Mo’s chest as she spoke in a honeyed, coquettish tone:

”Chen Mo, you’re so bad.”

Chen Mo responded with a roguish grin:

”There’s worse to come. We’ll try it next time.”

”No way,”

Liu Yifei looked at the mischievous smile playing on Chen Mo’s lips and flatly refused this shameless scoundrel.

The next morning, the sky was bright.

Chen Mo extricated himself from the tender embrace, patted the lump beside him, and said:

”Lazybones, time to get up.”

Without even opening her eyes, Liu Yifei replied:

”No, I’m sleeping some more. Don’t bother me!”

Seeing her like this, Chen Mo didn’t press further. After all, she was the celestial sister who wouldn’t get up until she had slept her fill.

It wasn’t her waking hour yet.

Chen Mo and Liu Yifei spent three days and nights of wanton indulgence at the estate before Liu Yifei finally left.

Though reluctant to part, she had no choice. Work called. Even as a figurehead, she still had to keep an eye on things for Chen Mo.

After seeing Liu Yifei off, Chen Mo had just returned to the living room when his phone rang. Seeing ”Zhao Yuan” flashing on the screen,

he frowned. Zhao Yuan was the head of his financial team and wouldn’t call without good reason, unless something had happened.

”Hello, what’s up?”

Chen Mo answered casually.

”Boss Chen!”

Zhao Yuan’s voice came through.

”All the short positions we opened early on foreign tech stocks on April 21st are now profitable!”

Chen Mo’s eyes flickered.

April 23-25, 2014, was the time window for the global tech stock crash.

First, tech stocks and the ChiNext board in the A-share market started falling. Then, on the evening of the 24th, Amazon’s earnings report bombed, forecasting heavy losses, which directly ignited panic.

By the 25th, tech stocks in the A-share, US stock, and Hong Kong stock markets were plummeting together, with many previously high-flying tech stocks being frantically sold off.

The main reasons were overvaluation from previous excessive gains, combined with poor earnings and tight liquidity, triggering a concentrated sell-off.

He had instructed Zhao Yuan to enter the market and short two days in advance.

”Boss Chen, it’s exactly as you predicted!”

Zhao Yuan’s voice continued:

”Amazon’s earnings bombed last night, plummeting over 10% after-hours. The US pre-market is a sea of red now, and Nasdaq futures are crashing!”

Chen Mo asked:

”What’s the specific situation? How much are we up on the foreign tech shorts?”

”In the US pre-market, Amazon is down over 10%, Twitter down over 5%, and the Nasdaq Internet Index is projected to fall over 3%!”

Zhao Yuan reported:

”Our early short positions are already showing an average floating profit of 18%! Everyone in the room is glued to the foreign markets!”

”Hmm, I saw Amazon’s report last night. It’s just the spark that will ignite the global tech stock crash.”

Chen Mo continued:

”Remember this: the situation in Ukraine is going to escalate sharply in the coming days. Gold and crude oil are about to go wild. This is another opportunity for us to harvest Wall Street.”

Zhao Yuan was first startled, then said:

”Boss Chen, you mean gold and crude oil? We should position ourselves in these two?”

”Yes,”

Chen Mo confirmed firmly:

”Our funds need to do two things simultaneously next:

First, massively sell off foreign high-valuation tech stocks, especially US tech stocks;

Second, quickly move into gold and crude oil for hedging. Once geopolitical conflicts escalate, these two are guaranteed to rise.”

Having followed Chen Mo for so long, Zhao Yuan knew his boss’s judgments were never wrong. He then said:

”Boss Chen, should we move now? Use the full $5 billion principal?”

”Proceed. It’s just $5 billion. Let’s earn some pocket money from those Western capitalists,” Chen Mo said.

Zhao Yuan: ”...”

Boss Chen, do you even hear yourself? $5 billion! And ’just’!

Only you, Boss Chen, could consider $5 billion pocket money!

If it weren’t Chen Mo, Zhao Yuan would have retorted, ’Boss, are you getting arrogant?’

Chen Mo continued:

”Deploy the entire $5 billion principal into foreign markets. Don’t touch the domestic stock market. Use $3 billion to add to our short positions on foreign tech stocks. Focus on Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, and the Nasdaq Internet Index. Add more as they fall;

Use $2 billion to immediately go long on gold and crude oil futures. Prioritize comex gold and NYMEX crude. Max out the positions, get in early, and wait for the opportunity.”

”Yes, Boss Chen! I’ll arrange it immediately. We definitely won’t touch the domestic market!”

Zhao Yuan promptly agreed.

”Go handle it. I’ll head over to take a look myself!”

After hanging up, Chen Mo grabbed his jacket and headed out. Since he had nothing else to do, he might as well check on the situation.

On the way, Chen Mo saw financial news alerts popping up one after another on his phone, all bearish news from foreign markets:

[Amazon Earnings Bomb, Plunges 10% After-Hours]

[US Pre-Market Tech Stocks Dive Collectively]

[Panic Over Global Tech Stocks Begins to Spread]

[Ukraine Situation Remains Tense, Geopolitical Risks Continue to Heat Up].

Meanwhile, major stock forums, futures groups, and forex communities were in an uproar. Discussions among stock and futures traders flew by, filled with laments and anxiety about foreign markets:

”Oh my god! Amazon is going to crash through the floor! Down 10% after-hours. The US market is going to collapse at the open today!”

”Can someone tell me what’s wrong with US tech stocks? Facebook and Twitter are both falling. My heavily invested tech stock fund is about to be wiped out!”

”The Federal Reserve is tightening QE. Money is fleeing tech stocks. Overvalued foreign tech stocks are doomed!”

”The forex market is also a mess. The US dollar is soaring, the euro and pound are plummeting. My long euro position got liquidated. Years of savings, gone!”

”Have you seen the international news? Ukraine is about to blow up! The conflict in the east is getting worse. When geopolitical risks rise, gold is definitely going to surge!”

”Right! Antiques in prosperous times, gold in chaotic times. crude oil will rise too. Geopolitical chaos always drives up energy prices. I’m already preparing to buy gold at the bottom!”

”Don’t bottom-fish! Gold hasn’t moved yet. Wait for the Ukraine situation to officially escalate—it’ll definitely gap up. Buying now means being the bag holder!”

”I made some money on my US stock shorts these past few days, but I’m still nervous. How long will this tech stock sell-off last?”

”No bottom in sight! Absolutely no bottom. Amazon’s report is just the beginning. Global tech stock valuations are too high. This downtrend will last several more days!”

”This is terrifying. US tech stocks crashing on one side, gold and crude oil about to explode on the other, plus forex chaos. This market is impossible to trade. Small retail investors can only wait to be harvested!”

”Any experts here? How high can crude oil go? I want to go long, but I’m afraid of getting trapped!”

”Hard to say. If the Ukraine situation escalates further, crude could break $100. If it eases, there’ll be a pullback. It all depends on geopolitical news now!”

”The US pre-market is already a bloodbath. The Nasdaq is projected down 0.7%, led by tech stocks. Another stormy opening today!”

”I’m heavily invested in Amazon stock, already down 20%. Should I cut my losses? Waiting online, I’m going crazy!”

”Cut! Cut now! Amazon forecasted heavy losses. It’s going to fall further. Not cutting will mean bigger losses!”

”Forex is insane too. The US dollar index is shooting up. I made some on my short pound position, but I’m not greedy. Should I take profits?”

”Advice: Take profits! The market is too chaotic now. Geopolitical conflict and tech stock crash are mixed together. No one knows what will happen next!”

The car entered the underground garage of Tianxing Building. Chen Mo walked straight to the private elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.

”Ding.”

The top floor arrived.

Entering the trading room, the outer area was the trading floor. Dozens of computers were neatly arranged, screens displaying real-time data for us stocks, hong kong stocks, forex, gold, and crude oil. Traders stared at their screens, fingers flying across keyboards, occasionally exchanging updates on market conditions;

The inner area was the command center, with a massive wall screen displaying real-time data for us stocks, the Nasdaq index, comex gold, nymex crude oil, and global forex.

Seeing Chen Mo arrive, Zhao Yuan quickly strode over and said:

”Boss Chen, you’re here! The US pre-market decline has widened again. Amazon down over 10%, Facebook down 5.2%, Twitter down 7.2%. Our short positions are nearly 20% in floating profit! Gold and crude oil are still showing unusual activity!”

Chen Mo walked to the large screen, his eyes scanning the real-time data as his mind raced through calculations.

He then spoke:

”Good. Continue executing the plan as I said. Deploy the full $5 billion into foreign markets.”

”Yes, Boss Chen!”

Zhao Yuan nodded and said:

”Before you arrived, I had already relayed your orders! We’re ready to add to our foreign tech stock short positions, focusing on Amazon, Facebook, and Twitter, increasing positions as planned;

As instructed, we’ve opened long positions on comex gold and nymex crude oil. The full $2 billion is already deployed, securing low positions!”

Chen Mo nodded.
