Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

68: Chapter 68 A Wall Street Murder SchemeThe Goldman Sachs representative spoke up:

”I have already planned a hunting trap, set for October 28th to 30th, during the Federal Reserve’s FOMC interest rate meeting night.”

The head of JPMorgan Chase looked over:

”What are the specifics?”

”We will jointly release fake news, claiming that the Federal Reserve will directly taper QE in October, causing the market to go into a frenzy shorting gold and US stock futures.”

The Goldman Sachs representative said slowly:

”Once everyone is fully leveraged on short positions, the interest rate decision will definitely maintain QE unchanged, directly triggering a short squeeze to liquidate them. We can swallow about 3 to 5 billion dollars in one bite. Even if we can’t screw Chen Mo over too much, we’ll still make a huge profit!”

The person from the Soros Fund followed up:

”No matter how capable Chen Mo is, when faced with a coalition of our capital on the international financial battlefield, he can only be a lamb to the slaughter!”

”In this round, if he dares to step in, we’ll make him spit out everything he earned before!”

The group hit it off immediately, reaching a financial hunting agreement targeted at Chen Mo.

Shanghai, top floor office of Tianxing Technology.

Chen Mo was in his office processing documents.

At that moment, a knock sounded at the door.

”Come in.”

Zhang Kai walked in with a tall, cold, and elegant young woman. The girl was wearing simple professional attire with light makeup.

The moment Chen Mo saw her face, he was momentarily stunned.

The woman who walked in looked exactly like the female tourist he had happened to meet and help in South Korea!

However, he had been in disguise back then, so she couldn’t possibly recognize him.

But somehow she didn’t feel like the same person; their temperaments were completely different across the two meetings.

One was like a workplace queen, the other like the girl next door!

Zhang Kai introduced her:

”President Chen, this is the presidential assistant I recruited according to your requirements, Li Yue, a Master of Finance from Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management.”

Li Yue bowed slightly, her voice carrying a hint of coolness:

”Hello, President Chen. I am Li Yue, I look forward to your guidance.”

Chen Mo suppressed the questions in his heart, remaining impassive on the surface as he asked calmly:

”Financial derivatives, cross-border settlements, hedging operations—are you proficient in all of them?”

Li Yue nodded:

”Yes. During my Master’s, I focused on international financial markets and have practical experience with us stocks, gold futures, and options.”

Chen Mo thought for a moment, then nodded:

”Fine. You start work formally tomorrow.”

Li Yue was somewhat surprised, not expecting the interview to be so simple. She quickly thanked him:

”Thank you, President Chen. I’ll go back and prepare, and come to work tomorrow.”

With that, she turned and left the office.

After Li Yue left, Zhang Kai remained standing there, looking hesitant.

Chen Mo put down his fountain pen:

”What’s wrong? Why are you hesitating? What is it?”

Zhang Kai handed over a resume and said:

”President Chen, there’s a heavy hitter applying for Chief Financial Officer. His ability is top-tier in the country—a top domestic financial expert, proficient in risk control, capital operations, and cross-border accounting... but there’s a bit of an issue with his resume, so I couldn’t decide.”

Chen Mo took the resume and scanned it.

When he saw the line about serving time in Tilanqiao Prison, his eyes instantly lit up!

Holy cow!

Isn’t this a perfect professional match!

He just loved accounting personnel who had ’furthered their studies’ at Tilanqiao!

Was there even a need to hesitate?

Chen Mo placed the resume directly on the desk and said:

”It’s him. Hire him immediately. Set the salary according to top market rates. As long as they’re capable, salary isn’t an issue for someone who’s studied at Tilanqiao!”

Zhang Kai was stunned:

”President Chen, you don’t mind?”

”Mind what?”

Chen Mo laughed.

”Those who can ’further their studies’ at Tilanqiao are all top talents in the accounting world!”

Zhang Kai was speechless!

President Chen actually said they went to Tilanqiao to ’further their studies’?

What kind of god-tier ’further studies’ is that!

”Uh! Okay, President Chen! I’ll contact him immediately!”

Just as Zhang Kai was about to leave, Chen Mo suddenly spoke:

”Wait.”

”President Chen?”

Chen Mo turned to look out the window:

”Tell the trading team to cancel all leave and return to their posts as quickly as possible. Also, prepare 1 billion USD in available funds. I want to trade three major instruments: Gold, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq.”

Zhang Kai:

”President Chen, you’re making a move again? Recently, rumors have been spreading everywhere that the Fed is going to taper QE; everyone is shorting!”

Chen Mo sneered:

”It’s precisely because everyone is shorting that there’s money to be made!”

”Go arrange it!”

Although Zhang Kai didn’t understand, he immediately nodded:

”Okay, President Chen! I’ll go arrange it right away!”

The office returned to silence once more.

Chen Mo shook his head with a smile.

In his previous life, this matter wasn’t being spread all over the place!

The US government had just shut down in early October and the economy was weak; the Fed would never dare to taper QE in October.

The actual tapering was on December 18th, not October.

On the October 30th interest rate night, gold and us stocks would definitely surge.

The current crash was nothing more than Wall Street smashing the market to lure people into shorting.

Wall Street is trying to set a trap for him!

They know I made a huge amount of USD last time!

This time they want me to spit it all back out.

What a pity!

They don’t know the advantage of a reincarnator!

In this round, it’s not yet certain who is hunting whom!

After Li Yue walked out of the Tianxing Technology Building, the coldness on her face faded quite a bit, replaced by a touch of girlish softness, bringing her temperament closer to the girl Chen Mo had met last time.

She took a taxi back to her residential complex. Opening her front door, she saw:

A girl wearing a casual hoodie with her hair in a high ponytail was curled up on the sofa playing with her phone. Her profile was identical to Li Yue’s, but her temperament was different.

”Sis! You’re finally back!”

Hearing the noise, the girl immediately put down her phone and jumped up, lunging at Li Yue.

The two of them, so similar, collided in a full embrace (ahem, I won’t write the details, just imagine it yourselves, it wouldn’t pass review).

This was indeed her twin sister, Li Xing, and also the person Chen Mo had met in South Korea.

Li Yue held her sister and smiled helplessly, saying:

”How old are you now? Still so restless. Aren’t you afraid of falling?”

”Hehe! I won’t fall!”

Li Xing dragged her by the arm to sit on the sofa.

”Quick, tell me, how was the interview? Did you get the job as the presidential assistant for Tianxing Technology? I heard so many people were fighting for it; the competition must have been intense!”

Li Yue rubbed her sister’s head, an imperceptible smile appearing at the corner of her mouth:

”I got the job. I start working formally tomorrow.”

”Really! Then is that President Chen of yours handsome? I heard online that President Chen is very handsome and even has a nickname ’earths number one handsome’!”

Li Xing asked with a laugh.

”Is he also particularly cold and aloof?”

Li Yue said amusedly:

”He is quite handsome, and definitely rich. He’s also truly cold and aloof; he didn’t have any extra expressions the whole time. He just asked if I knew about financial derivatives, cross-border settlements, and such. After I finished, he said I was hired. It felt like he was just going through the motions.”

”That casual?”

Li Xing was also surprised.

”I heard from my classmates that for their company’s presidential assistant interview, there were three rounds of follow-up interviews alone, and they had to examine so many things. Isn’t President Chen being too perfunctory?”

Li Yue shook her head:

”I don’t know. Maybe it’s because my resume was decent and happened to meet his requirements.”

”Hehe, it must be because your status as a Master’s student from Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management gave you a lot of extra points!”

Li Xing didn’t think more of it, shaking Li Yue’s hand and saying,

”My genius sister is just amazing. Sis, you have to perform well when you start work tomorrow. Once you’ve established yourself, take me to see that legendary President Chen!”

”No need for you to worry. In the future, I’ll show you photos of President Chen every day and make you drool, you little visual-obsessed girl!”

Li Yue swatted her hand away and said jokingly.
