Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

81: Chapter 81 Old Jia’s FawningOld Jia was dumbfounded on the spot.

He was the CEO of a company worth tens of billions, yet when he publicly invited someone to say a few words, he was treated like air, ignored to the point that the person couldn’t even be bothered to offer a refusal. He truly lost all face.

However, the reason he had clawed his way up from being a poor kid to where he was today was his thick skin and patience.

He knew clearly that Chen Mo was not someone he could afford to offend; even the backing he had behind him was insignificant compared to Chen Mo.

In just one second, he regained his composure, coughed twice to change the subject, and continued hosting as if nothing had happened.

But his wife, Gan Weiwei, lacked such composure. Seeing Chen Mo give him absolutely no face, she was stunned first, and her face instantly flushed to the roots of her ears, feeling like everyone around was mocking her.

What made it worse was that she wasn’t sharp-witted. She leaned in and said, ”CEO Chen, Old Jia invited you to speak. Didn’t you hear him?”

Whoa, this shrew!

Chen Mo didn’t even glance at her.

”I heard, yes. I’m just bored today, came out for a stroll. Speaking is unnecessary.”

He came to the celebration to support Yang Mi and the other two girls. If he actually went on stage to speak, it would be equivalent to endorsing Old Jia, and he wouldn’t do such a foolish thing.

Although Gan Weiwei was dissatisfied, she dared not show any other expression on her face.

She knew her tone earlier was inappropriate, and if she showed any more dissatisfaction now, she would be finished; even Old Jia couldn’t protect her.

The surrounding celebrities understood instantly:

CEO Chen’s presence here had nothing to do with Old Jia; he was purely there to support the three young women beside him, to prevent them from being bullied.

No one dared to voice this understanding, but they all knew it in their hearts.

At this moment, the live stream room immediately filled with bullet comments:

”Hahaha, Gan Weiwei, that shrew, totally brought this upon herself!”

”CEO Chen’s line, ’Bored, came out for a stroll,’ slapped Old Jia right across the face!”

”Got it, CEO Chen is here to protect his own!”

”Old Jia’s face turned green, yet he still has to pretend nothing happened!”

”CEO Chen’s aura is truly completely dominating!”

As the performance on stage began, Old Jia took the opportunity to slip over to Chen Mo’s table. Not daring to sit, he held up his red wine glass with a very humble posture:

”CEO Chen, I toast you. Thank you for gracing us with your presence today.”

After speaking, he tilted his head back and downed the entire glass.

Chen Mo glanced at him faintly.

”Mm, Old Jia, you’re too kind.”

He didn’t even move the wine glass next to him.

Old Jia wasn’t angry either. He knew:

If he couldn’t curry favor today, it didn’t matter. As long as he could pull Yang Mi and the other two onto his side, relying on their relationship with Chen Mo, there would be no shortage of investors biting.

The shares he gave the three amounted to a full 15%, a portion alone worth over 200 million. If it truly went public in the future, it could be worth billions.

”CEO Chen, then I won’t keep you. I need to go greet the other guests.”

Old Jia chuckled dryly and quickly slipped away with Gan Weiwei.

He wasn’t greeting anyone; he was just afraid of being publicly humiliated again if he stayed longer.

Chen Mo casually nodded, not taking it seriously.

As soon as the Old Jia couple left, Yang Mi immediately leaned close to Chen Mo’s ear and whispered:

”Chen Mo, did this Old Jia offend you in the past?”

”Not exactly an offense, he just wanted to use my name to build momentum. I couldn’t be bothered to argue.”

Chen Mo said casually.

Chen Mo had something else he didn’t say:

This Old Jia would eventually scam everyone and run away. He was happy to watch such an exciting show unfold from the sidelines.

Yang Mi became nervous upon hearing this:

”Then does he have problems? I noticed your attitude toward him was very clear.”

Dilraba Dilmurat and Guli Nazha next to her immediately perked up their ears like little white rabbits.

Chen Mo lowered his voice so only the three of them could hear:

”The problem isn’t huge. It’ll definitely be fine for the next two or three years, but after that, it’s hard to say. You can keep the shares for now, but don’t invest any more of your own money, and don’t count on an IPO. Sell when you should sell. Just keep this matter between yourselves; don’t spread it around.”

Yang Mi instantly understood:

Old Jia would crash sooner or later!

But she was calculating in her heart:

Two or three years was enough time for LeEco to secure several more rounds of financing. Her 10% share cost only 20 million. By then, selling for hundreds of millions would be easy—a guaranteed profit.

Chen Mo saw her expression and knew what she was thinking, so he didn’t stop her.

Tens of millions was pocket change to him. Yang Mi had ambition and wanted to make a mark in the entertainment industry; he couldn’t be bothered to manage such a small matter.

In contrast, Dilraba Dilmurat and Guli Nazha were like two salted fish, lacking any career drive, which made Yang Mi feel quite helpless.

After Old Jia left, the gazes of all the surrounding celebrities fell upon Chen Mo. They were all filled with awe and curiosity, but no one dared to approach and strike up a conversation.

Even familiar faces like Deng Chao and Hu Ge didn’t dare to come over; they only dared to watch from a distance.

In their eyes, Chen Mo’s status had risen so high that they didn’t even possess the courage to try and curry favor.

But just then, a reckless young man walked straight up to Chen Mo, holding a wine glass.

This person looked somewhat familiar. He wasn’t very famous right now; even newly debuted young idols were more popular than him.

Everyone took a look and saw it was Wu Jing, an actor who used to be in martial arts roles, now just a third-tier, washed-up artist.

Wu Jing walked up to Chen Mo, and without saying a word, he tilted his head back and downed the wine in his glass.

Everyone was stunned.

Good heavens!

He was holding a red wine glass, but it was filled to the brim with baijiu. Downed in one gulp, it was at least half a catty (about 250g) of hard liquor.

After finishing the drink, Wu Jing wiped his mouth and said directly:

”Hello, CEO Chen. I am Wu Jing. I toast you with this glass. I have something I need to ask for your help with today.”

Chen Mo smiled faintly.

”Wu Jing? Go ahead, what is it?”

He wasn’t putting on airs, but he wouldn’t treat someone differently just because of a glass of wine. Right now, Wu Jing was the one asking him for a favor.

The surroundings instantly erupted in quiet murmurs, and the live stream comments went crazy:

”Holy crap! Who is this Wu Jing? How dare he be so bold?”

”A third-tier nobody dares to ask CEO Chen for help?”

”Drinking half a catty of baijiu just to gain face? How naive!”

”It’s over, this guy is done for!”

”He’s really daring. Even Old Jia was snubbed, and he still dares to approach!”

Wu Jing ignored the surrounding gazes and looked at Chen Mo, his tone still direct:

”CEO Chen, this matter isn’t difficult for you. I filmed a movie and would like to ask Tianxing Video to help me with the special effects. I will pay the market rate.”

As soon as these words came out, the surrounding people laughed.

Asking for a favor while being so assertive, and even saying, ’I will pay the market rate.’

Does Chen Mo lack that little bit of money?

Was this asking for a favor at all!

The live stream burst into laughter:

”Hahaha, is he insane?”

”Does he think Tianxing Video’s special effects are something he can afford?”

”He really thinks highly of himself!”

”CEO Chen will definitely refuse immediately!”
