Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

51: Chapter 51 Leisurely Stroll Along the Riverbank, Harvesting GoldApril in Shanghai was pleasantly mild, the spring breeze carrying a comfortable coolness.

On the Bund’s riverside promenade, willow buds swayed in the wind. Sightseeing boats drifted slowly on the river, and there weren’t too many tourists around.

Chen Mo held Wu Xue’s hand. Both wore light jackets. Behind them, Wu Dongju skipped along, followed by Bai Fengjiu. The four of them, without any bodyguards, strolled the streets like ordinary people, shedding all traces of their formidable presence in the business world.

Wu Dongju clutched a bag of sugar-roasted chestnuts, popping one into her mouth as she called out indistinctly:

”Chen Mo! Sister Wu Xue! Let’s go over there and pick willow branches to weave into wreaths!”

With that, she grabbed Bai Fengjiu’s hand and dashed off.

Bai Fengjiu followed, laughing. ”Let’s go, let’s all go together.”

Wu Xue leaned against Chen Mo’s shoulder and said softly:

”You haven’t had time to go shopping with us lately. Today, we’re definitely making up for it.”

Chen Mo ruffled her hair with a smile. ”You’re right. You’ve all been so busy with trivial matters recently. Now that we have a few days to rest properly, we’ll make up for all of it. We’ll take our time. Whatever you want to eat or do, it’s up to you.”

”It’s all because of you, acting like a hands-off boss, dumping everything on us.”

Wu Xue rolled her eyes as she spoke.

”Hey, now you’re blaming me? Should I find someone else then?”

Chen Mo chuckled.

”Forget it, I’ll just work a little harder! So, shall we go on a sightseeing boat later?” Wu Xue pointed at the river, asking with a smile.

”Sure, whatever you say. We’ll go on the boat later, then eat the local Shanghainese food you love, and also the plum blossom cakes Dongju keeps talking about.”

Chen Mo smiled, shook his head, and agreed without hesitation.

Soon after, Wu Dongju came running back, pulling Bai Fengjiu along.

Chen Mo looked at the willow wreath in her hand and said:

”It’s actually quite pretty. But next time, don’t pick willow branches so casually. Take care of the plants, okay?”

Wu Dongju pouted. ”Fine. So, where are we going next?”

Just as Wu Dongju finished speaking, Chen Mo’s phone rang. It was Zhao Yuan calling.

He said:

”I need to take this call. I’ll be right back.”

Walking under the shade of a tree, Chen Mo answered the call:

”Hello, Zhao Yuan, what’s up?”

Zhao Yuan’s steady voice came from the other end:

”Boss Chen! News on the gold front! Goldman Sachs issued a bearish report, several major institutions are selling off together. The gold price dropped from 1600 to 1480, just hitting our add-on line!”

Chen Mo glanced across the river, his tone exceptionally calm:

”Understood. Proceed as planned. Add the entire reserved $150 million position. Keep the leverage at 20x. Move quickly, don’t make mistakes.”

”Received, Boss Chen!”

Zhao Yuan promptly responded.

”Mm. Focus on the work. I’ll give out bonuses when it’s done!”

Chen Mo instructed.

”Remember, start closing the position in batches if the gold price falls below 1400. Know when to stop, don’t get greedy. Keep a close eye on risk control. Stop loss if it rebounds more than 3%. Don’t let anything go wrong.”

”Understood, understood! Risk control is monitoring 24/7. Wall Street is quiet, absolutely no problem!”

”Also, after closing the positions, consolidate all the profits. Await my further instructions!” Chen Mo added another line.

”Yes, Boss Chen!”

”Alright. Send me a message after the operation. Don’t keep calling and interrupting my shopping.”

With that, Chen Mo hung up the phone.

Chen Mo put away his phone and walked back to Wu Xue and the others.

”Finished your call? Was it work-related?”

Wu Xue asked with concern.

”Yes. Adding to the gold position for the harvest. Zhao Yuan and the team are on it. Nothing will go wrong. It won’t affect our shopping.”

Chen Mo sat down and took her hand.

Wu Dongju immediately leaned in, tugging on his arm.

”Chen Mo, Chen Mo, stop thinking about making money all the time. Will you buy me the limited-edition dolls from the trendy toy store? And the plum blossom cakes, I want to eat them now!”

Chen Mo said:

”All you think about is eating and playing. You could buy ten sets of those limited-edition dolls yourself, or even buy out the entire trendy toy store and all the plum blossom cake shops!”

Wu Dongju punched Chen Mo’s arm:

”You blockhead!”

Bai Fengjiu laughed:

”Hahaha, Dongju, come on, come on, I’ll buy them for you!”

Wu Xue also smiled:

”Alright, let’s go buy the plum blossom cakes first, then take the sightseeing boat.”

”Great!”

Wu Dongju grabbed Bai Fengjiu and ran off, waving back over her shoulder.

”Hurry up and follow us!”

Chen Mo and Wu Xue exchanged a smile and followed at a leisurely pace.

Meanwhile, in the trading office of Tianxing Technology, things were bustling with intense activity.

On the computer screens, the gold price kept falling. The clatter of keyboards filled the air as everyone stared intently at their monitors.

Zhao Yuan watched the screen, typing rapidly:

”Add more! All of it! Quick, don’t miss the timing!”

Li Feng, while calculating data, shouted:

”Boss Zhao! Position added! All $150 million invested, 20x leverage, average cost 1478. Current gold price 1470, we’re already in floating profit!”

Zhang Lei, stationed before the risk control screen, said gravely:

”Boss Zhao, everything’s normal. Wall Street is busy with stop-losses, no one’s paying attention to us. The Japanese Central Bank is quiet too, no risk of a rebound causing a margin call!”

Zhao Yuan wiped his sweat and finally said:

”Good! Keep a tight watch! Start closing the position in batches if gold falls below 1400. Know when to stop. Anyone who messes up is responsible! Following Boss Chen, we make steady profits every time!”

”Understood!”

Everyone responded in unison, their hands never stopping, eyes glued to the screens, waiting for the gold price to drop a bit more so they could close the positions.

Over on Wall Street, executives at major investment banks watched the plummeting gold price, pacing anxiously, some even cursing. They could only watch helplessly as their losses grew, completely unaware of where the mysterious capital harvesting them was coming from.
