Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 49: Divinity! Playing tricks, huh?
Damn, he can really spin a yarn. I’m truly impressed.

Chen Pingchuan stared at the simulation information, his mind restless for a long time. He had to admit that his divine persona was indeed stronger than his ordinary self. This strength wasn’t in physical prowess or endurance, but in its divine way of thinking. If it were his own personality being simulated, the scope would be narrow—a single point, a small crisis that was difficult to solve, or perhaps some minor material gain or loss.

The divine persona, however, was different. It truly seemed to walk as a god among men. Its vision was locked onto the grand scale of human development, the good and evil of human nature, and the very survival of theplanet. It spoke of cleansing the world of sin. Forgetting the results for a moment, the sheer grandeur of the concept was on another level entirely. It was so convincing that even Chen Pingchuan, who was just watching the simulation, found himself believing it. One could only imagine what it was like for Major General Hu, who was actually in that scenario.

Chen Pingchuan continued to read.

[Major General Hu has been won over by your ideals. He recalled his own life: a tragic childhood, the confusion and helplessness of his youth, and his awful living conditions. The feeling of despair had been his constant companion.]

[Only when he chose his fierce tiger as a beast companion did he truly escape that predicament. But as he grew stronger, he realized it was merely a leap from one cage into another.]

[The way Major General Hu looked at you began to change as an emotion called admiration quietly took root. However, you, the self-proclaimed god, knew this feeling was temporary. You had to press your advantage.]

[Your tone becomes somewhat deep and hoarse as you state the following.]

[”You must have investigated my background, which will save me a lot of effort in explaining. If we count from the initial awakening of my consciousness, my divinity first manifested three years ago.”]

[Major General Hu was once again shocked by your words. He had not come here unprepared. His people had turned your file upside down and inside out, but no matter how they analyzed it, they remained puzzled by your origin.]

[Starting three years ago, your life seemed to deviate from its expected course. You were still the same orphan with no background, yet people of high status began to gather around you.]

[Of course, in Major General Hu’s eyes, these people were insignificant. But he understood that you and they were from two different worlds and would normally never have crossed paths. The woman who appeared by your side a few days ago, Xia Qingxue, was a particular source of confusion for them due to her background.]

[At the thought of that woman, Major General Hu’s heart trembled. Disregarding the regulations of the Blood Beast Ban, he began to reveal information to you, stating that the woman at your side had an extraordinary background. You did not let him finish, interrupting him again.]

[”I know her background,” you stated. ”Isn’t it just Mechanical Castle’s Sky No. 1? I also know she’s searching for the Heaven’s Chosen, and that the Heaven’s Chosen is most likely me.” With that, you pivoted, beginning to denounce the dangers of mechanical civilization.]

[”I call these mechanical creatures ’metal lumps,’ and I classify them as heresy,” you declared. ”Heresy must be eliminated. Only by wiping out this heresy can the world return to its original state.”]

[Major General Hu was now a firm believer in your words, truly seeing you as a newly awakened god. He said that Celestial Palace No. 1 Mechanical Castle was so powerful that even the Blood Beast Ban had to steer clear of them.]

[You interrupted him once more.]

Seriously? Can’t he show some basic courtesy? Why does he keep interrupting the guy?

Outside the simulator, Chen Pingchuan offered three seconds of silent mourning for Major General Hu. Every time the man tried to speak, he was cut off. It was as if he wasn’t even being treated as a person.

Then again, he reconsidered. For a grand swindler like my divine persona, acting this way seems perfectly in character. In fact, it would be strange if he *didn’t* interrupt people.

A phrase suddenly flashed through Chen Pingchuan’s mind.

An obedience test.

If not for the fact that every moment of the past three years was his own personal experience, he might have started to believe the simulator’s fabricated narrative himself.

This divine persona... is toxic!

Stay away from charlatans, cherish your life! Chen Pingchuan finally understood why the cults in his previous life had been so harshly suppressed. Their influence was a deeply insidious poison.

Perverse, manipulative, fanatical... It’s just too sinister.

So, is my divine persona the same? Chen Pingchuan frowned, beginning to worry about the direction the simulation was taking. Then he immediately corrected himself. This isn’t real. What the hell am I worried about? Anyway, I should continue the simulation.

[You tell him, ”I haven’t been awake for long, and because of the planet’s current environment, the recovery of my Divine Power is extremely slow.”]

[”To save the people of this world as soon as possible, I have decided to use what little Divine Power I have to summon my Divine Beast mount. It can not only protect my physical, divine vessel but also attract the attention of certain people.”]

[”As for why I chose you, it’s because we share the same ideals.” You turn around, your gaze falling upon Major General Hu. Staring at your young and handsome face, he becomes even more convinced of his earlier judgment: you are not human.]

[You smile as you look at Major General Hu, who stands beside you filled with admiration and respect. How could I possibly tell him that I’ve analyzed the growth methodology of the Blood Beast Ban? They exchange genes with beasts, use genetic serums to repair the flaws, and then enhance the exchange further. It all seems very scientific. But you are destined to become a god. You spotted the flaw in their advancement method at a single glance. When they swap genes with a beast, their humanity is suppressed while their beastly nature is enhanced. Although their abilities grow rapidly, their mindset also begins to lean toward animalistic instincts. They learn to love nature, hate the clamor of the city, and develop a natural aversion to machinery.]

[Sensing that you had no intention of speaking further, Major General Hu looked at you, his face a mask of bewilderment. ”I don’t know... I’m not sure... I don’t understand,” he asked. ”What should I do?”]

[Looking at the deferential Major General Hu, you thought to yourself, What an ignorant mortal, so lacking in perception. Even now, he instinctively tries to probe me, to see if I have some hidden designs for him.]

[You stared at Major General Hu without moving, holding his gaze until he lowered his head in submission. Only then did you speak. ”You don’t need to do anything. You just need to watch quietly. I will lead you in cleansing this world and restoring its clarity.”]

[You gave a slight nod and told him that what he needed to do now was complete his mission.]

[Major General Hu was stunned. He thought you would ask him to conceal your identity, but you were telling him to take you back as a prisoner.]

[He was visibly confused by your decision and looked up at you, as if to confirm he hadn’t misheard.]

[Although you were displeased by his reaction, you forgave his impertinence, considering you were still in the preliminary stages of building your Divine Country. You repeated your earlier command: ”Take me back. Then, assist me.”]
