Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 24: Demolition! Continue Simulation
The light in the rented apartment was exceptionally bright, revealing a horrifying scene.

Torn bedsheets, a shredded foam sofa, shattered flower pots, and walls covered in stains...

Upon closer inspection, tables and chairs were overturned, the fragments of various unknown items were scattered across the floor, and muddy claw prints covered every surface.

A red-eyed monster with black skin, sharp claws, white teeth, and a forked tongue lay quietly behind the door. Its hollow gaze carried a hint of despair.

Black Demon No. 1 clearly remembered its master’s instructions before he left; it was not to leave this room until he returned.

But it was truly hungry. It had no choice but to sample everything in the room that looked like food. The result was obvious: nothing was edible.

”HISS...!”

Chen Pingchuan sucked in a sharp breath, fearing he might lose control and kill the creature. The scene, which was a dead ringer for a husky wrecking a house, nearly made him snap. He had even been one of the smug onlookers laughing at others’ misfortune in the past.

But now that the tables had turned, the smile froze on his face.

Chen Pingchuan suddenly recalled his landlord’s words about a mouse getting into the apartment. This was no mouse—it was clearly a dog.

His hand, pointing at Black Demon No. 1, trembled slightly.

”Let me ask you, are you a dog?”

”You’re not. You’re a monster.”

”I told you to watch the house, not wreck the house! Is this what ’watching the house’ means to you?”

Chen Pingchuan’s tone grew increasingly ominous.

Black Demon No. 1 pretended not to hear the anger in his voice. Wagging its tail, it hopped in front of Chen Pingchuan and circled him ingratiatingly. Then, it clumsily used its sharp claws to gesture a circle around its stomach before lying on the ground, belly-up.

Looking at its ridiculous posture, Chen Pingchuan felt both helpless and bittersweet. Upon further reflection, he recalled that while Black Demon No. 1 had strong attributes, impressive attack power, and an even more impressive appearance, its intelligence was only comparable to that of a six- or seven-year-old child. His expectations for it were evidently too high.

Judging by the creature’s actions, it was clearly saying it was starving to death.

”Alright, I’ll let you off this time, but if there’s a next time...”

Chen Pingchuan didn’t finish his sentence, quickly correcting himself. ”No, I won’t give you that chance again.”

Subsequently, Chen Pingchuan cleared a space in the apartment, found a large iron basin, and placed chunks of raw meat inside it.

Glancing at Black Demon No. 1 devouring the meat like a starving animal, Chen Pingchuan shifted his focus to cleaning up. He spent nearly half an hour on a preliminary cleaning of the room, though he didn’t have time for a more detailed organization.

For him, the most critical task at hand was to seize the opportunity to continue the previous simulation.

Chen Pingchuan sat down firmly at his desk and opened his simulation log. Although he subscribed to the joking notion that only weirdos keep diaries, the simulator provided so much miscellaneous information that he simply couldn’t remember it all.

You looked at the little girl in front of you, your anger rising as you shouted, ”What bullshit Blood Beast Ban! I’m not one to hide my name. I am Ba, the eighth-ranked in my family!”

You posed an intelligence test to the little girl: ”Answer me this, what’s my name?”

The little girl didn’t see through your verbal trap. She affectionately called you, ”Daddy!”

Darkness overwhelmed you...

You died!

Huh?

Chen Pingchuan was taken aback. The speed of the information prompts was painfully slow in previous simulations compared to now.

He looked at the notes he’d recorded. Reasons related to simulation speed:

One, whether his attention was focused on the simulation.

Now, he deduced another:

Two, whether his mental state during the simulation was suboptimal.

In gaming terms, my Spiritual Power should be regenerating at n points per minute, and a full bar must have some special bonuses.

He recorded these conjectures in his log one by one.

Chen Pingchuan stroked his chin. He first mentally awarded himself a perfect ten for his clever pun, then prepared to end the simulation and choose his reward.

However, something unexpected happened.

The simulation text continued to scroll.

Endless darkness enveloped you. After a long time, you opened your eyes. You were alive.

You examined your body, finding it to be that of a Black Demon implanted with an ordinary parasitic seed. The clumsy body felt uncomfortable.

You scouted the surrounding environment, realizing you were still in the City of No Night. The constant sounds of combat nearby led you to deduce that not much time had passed since your death.

Three hours later, you were discovered by the City of No Night’s patrol personnel. You fought back fiercely and successfully killed three Genetic Enhancers. After achieving a 3-1 kill record, you died.

Endless darkness enveloped you. After a long time, you opened your eyes. You were alive again.

This time, you discovered the body you occupied after resurrection was that of an elite-level Black Demon. Its strength and agility were clearly far superior to a regular Black Demon. The sudden surge of power was intoxicating.

You attempted to escape the City of No Night and secretly began to formulate a plan. You intended to rest and recuperate, raise a sufficiently large Black Demon Army, and then return to take revenge on your enemies.

During your escape, your path was blocked by a little girl in a frilly dress.

You died!

Damn it, her again? Is this girl haunting me or what?

Looking at the simulation information, Chen Pingchuan didn’t even need to think to guess who the little girl was.

Enemies are bound to cross paths, I guess... But on the other hand... I can actually live forever.

Endless darkness enveloped you. After a long time, you opened your eyes. You were alive yet again.

Clearly, this awakening took longer. Upon opening your eyes, you found the resurrected body was still that of a Black Demon, and your mood soured.

You once again scouted the surroundings but found no signs of life.

The desolate city, the broken buildings, the dried bloodstains, the thick layers of dust and rubble, and the billboards that no longer flickered—you confirmed that during your resurrection downtime, the City of No Night had been breached.

You recalled the Black Demon horde, a black torrent of steel, and from the bottom of your heart, you approved of their masterpiece.

You initiated a parasitic sense, detecting the locations of all your parasitic seeds, and realized why you could only be resurrected into the bodies of Black Demons.

Your human hosts were all dead.

You again felt disgust for these brainless Black Demons, feeling their lack of intelligence made them unworthy of living on this land.

Of course, such trivial matters were unimportant to you. Your heart was already filled with rage. You wanted revenge.

You gathered most of your Black Demon thralls, willing to sacrifice the majority of your hosts just to teach that pesky little girl a lesson.

You spent three days turning the City of No Night upside down but found no trace of her.

During this time, you noticed the aftereffects of resurrecting via the parasitic seeds.

You began to be influenced by the Black Demon’s body, gradually becoming bloodthirsty and developing a preference for raw meat.

A month later, you had gained a general understanding of the City of No Night’s layout and discovered a human survivor inside a genetic drug research and development company.
